I attended the Honeoye @ Dundee FLW Showdown this past Friday night. Boy I'm glad I did. What a game, Dundee jumped out to a big first half lead thanks to an incredible 15-for-20 first half performance from the field. Honeoye fought back hard in the 2nd half and made it a game but Dundee was able to prevail and win the game by 10 points.
Senior Brandon Camacho once again made a strong case for FLW Player of the Year honors, he scored 33 points and hit 7 3 pointers, however the play of the game was a no look pass in the first half to a wide open Steven Carruthers under the basket, it was a jaw dropping pass that had everbody in the gym smiling. In a rare girls/boys varsity double-header, LCAA rivals Bath and Hornell battled for the first time this season. The night tipped off with a much hyped girls varsity match-up. Bath jumped to a nine point lead in the second quarter, but only lead by 3 at the half. Hornell would go on the strength of strong third quarter to take a 7 point victory. In the boys game Hornell cruised to a relatively easy 60-44 victory. Bath did make a run in the fourth quarter and closed to Hornell down to 9 points, but couldn't sustain the momentum.
