I'm curious who everybody thinks is the Steuben County League Most Valuable Player? It doesn't seem as "Cut and Dry" this year as it was last year. Last year Ryan Caron was without a doubt the League M.V.P, this year it seems like it could go to a couple of different players.

Brennan Thurber-Jasper-Troupsburg
Patrick Wightman-Prattsburgh
Nick Smith-Arkport

Are there any other players who deserve consideration? in the end the coaches decide which is how it should be but in your opinion who should be the Steuben County League MVP this season?

I'd love to hear the Talksback Members thoughts on this...............

I realize Will Duncan isn't on a winning team, but he has put up solid #'s all year as well!!!

Thurber is hands-down MVP. JT went from barely having a team to being the #3 seed in the county. Thurber has had to carry a lot of the load himself this season. He doesn't have much of a supporting cast, so a lot of opponents spend a lot of time focusing on him.

Just figured it out he's averaging around 12.8 PPG or so, decent numbers but not MVP type numbers.

I stand corrected... I guess I was baseing it on the the 2 games against P'burgh, and have read where he had a couple other descent games!!!

not taking anything away from the kid or trying to make light of his accomplishments, he's put up decent numbers but League MVP's average more than 11.7 PPG. Last I knew he was averaging close to double digits in Rebounds and if he did he'll probably be a 1st or 2nd team all-star. But I can just about gurantee you that the League MVP won't come from the #7 seed in the county.

Oh and that would be "Throw him in the mix"

when will cornett won his senior year he averaged 10.8 a game. but he also only played half the game most of the time

Yeah and was on a winning team and also averaged good numbers in almost all other statistical categories........I think you knew what I meant

yea ik i was just sayin u dont need to be an outstanding scorer to win mvp. will is a starter at fisher and he plays the same way there as he at C-S. he looks for other people before he looks to score. and hes also a vicious defender

If i had to pick a player from the Hport team to throw in, I'd say Ryan House. He's more consistent than Duncan and he's the one who keeps them in games most of the time.

I agree. Brennan Thurber deserves the MVP, he is a great player, and not only has he improved the stats of himself, he has been helping some of the other players get better from what I see.

If Thurber is not MVP the whole thing is a scam. He is always facing junk D or doubles and still puts up the best stats. Without him they dont win more than prob. 5 games all year long!!!

He's currently averaging 21 PPG & 14 RPG and is only 45 points away from 1,000 points for his career. He'll likely get it Wednesday in Bath in either the Finals or 3rd place game.

Brewster is a junior that's put up decent numbers this season, he'll likely be one of if not the best player in the League next season.

Knowles-is a Shooter, he's also put up decent numbers at times but is inconsistent

House- very good shooter but doesn't do much else,........... does keep Hammondsport in games with his speed and shooting ability

All three are potential league All-Stars, although Knowles will likely end up Honorable Mention if teammate Zach Sutton gets selected.
