I've seen this in other regions so I'll start it here.
Who would be on the all time team for each of your schools?? I've only been here for 9 years and I've seen some very good players but I'm not sure how they would rank against others.
Everyone feel free please.

Lets see I remember when my dad used to Coach the Dundee team, but I couldn't remember any of their names.
But some names I do remember watching from back in the day include;
Marques Williams-HAC. He was so nasty
Rob and Andy Platt- RJ
Kid from Bloomfield who played against RJ twins in the finals. forget his name

Rob Platt i wouldn't say at all, he wasn't anything special but i would agree with Any. I use to play pickup games with him at a campsite we went to together, he dominated everytime we played. lol

I know that there were some good players back in the day. My dad always talks about the team when Mark Stait was a sophmore i think. Had him, Dave Nolan and another that i guess were very good.

Nolan was tough. That was a nice team. Nolan was who I watched when I went to games. Strait was good too.

Played many a game with those two on Sunday mornings in Dundee. Nobody ever worked harder on both ends of the floor than Mark Strait.

I put this name out there because I know he never would do it.
For Dundee Coach Les Miller I believe is the last guy to play in the McDonalds Game. He's have to fall somewhere on that list I'd think.
The kid from Bloomfield Joe is talking about was John Eshelman, they also had a kid I remember Jim Bellis who was excellent.

Steve Bloom was another Chris Shepard And Dave Nolan all played together There was no one better at drawing a foul for the old fashion 3 point play than Dave Nolan and no better position rebounder than Steve Bloom.

Not sure how many people saw him, but Todd Devlin from Naples had a heckuva senior season in '97....and unfortunately, one good year is usually enough to get you on Naples' hall of fame list. The guy could flat out jump. I've seen a lot of HS games since then, but I haven't seen anyone pull off the dunks he could.
I'll also throw Peter Christianson from Dundee and Rob Dellasanti from Honeoye on that list. I don't have any numbers on them, but I had to guard them, so their on my HOF.

I saw Todd Devlin play and he actually plays in a League with my older brother and plays in 3-on-3 tournaments with him over the summer, he's put on a little weight but can still play........
Another name to add to the Naples list is Mike Chapman, he's still Naples All Time Leading Scorer and also plays Ball with my older Brother. He's my brothers Accountant

One name I haven't see yet on here from Honeoye, I've heard mentioned before was Ralph Angelo. I keep hearing he was one of the best shooters in section V.

He scored over 2,400 points in his career and is a member of the section v hall of fame. I'd say he's in!

One thing about Angelo was he never seemed to have a good shooting day against quality teams. That's one thing people always said about him that he pumped in tons of points against lesser teams. I saw him play once in a state qualifier and he did nothing.
I would add Tim Angeline (Red Jacket), Andy Rogers (Bloomfield), Dave Conklin (Bloomfield), Steve Veeder (Romulus), Joe Rosicka (Honeoye), Mark Vigren (Honeoye), and Craig Emmerling (Honeoye) to this list.

I also saw him play in a state qualifier and the only thing I remember him doing was throwing one of our players into the wall on a breakaway layup with :50 to go in a blowout game......classy

Without a doubt, Steve Veeder (1985?) would be on the list at Romulus. The Warriors have won a bunch of sectional titles, but not sure of the years, so you know they've had plenty of standout players over the years. Veeder may have been the most intelligent basketball player I've ever seen.
I would think that Tony Alvaro would have to be the coach of the Warriors' all-time team. One other guy I think deserves to be on Romulus' list is Steve's older brother Mike Veeder (late 1970s or early 1980s), who was lights-out from the perimeter. Wow, could that guy shoot!!! (He probably still can!) Other players from Romulus that I remember standing out but not sure if they're all-time worthy are Daryl Morrell (late '70s/early '80s), Damon Nicholson (early '80s) and Matt Colegrove (late '80s).
A couple of names I remember from South Seneca would be all-time coach candidate Jack Guinan, whom I believe led the Falcons to a bunch of titles in the mid- to late-1970s. One player's name from South Seneca that I recall is David (?) Close, whom I believe was Guinan's top gun in the 1970s.

Romulus came to our Xmas Tourney every year in the early 70's at Corning West. I find it hard to believe that there were any better players than two players who gave us all we could handle. Charlie Cool and Dick ? Willlower. Could be wrong on that first name. They were outstanding players.

He still is the best player in the gym even today. Cant leave him open or its money. Cant let him get the board down low or its another basket. Its close to impossible to get by him on defense. I wish i could have watched him back in the day.

Yes David Close was his name. I heard he was quite a player, his son is playing at south seneca and is a sophmore and has the potential to be quite a ball player himself.
what about Kevin Casey from Naples.

wasn't there also a player from naples back in the 50's that got a full ride to syracuse?

South Seneca probably would need to include some of the kids from the early 70s like Bobby Rich who went on to college and be the all time leading scorer at his college, I forget it was like Potsdam or Oswego and then played pro ball in Europe. some other kids like the pritchards as well. Those teams won 53 home games in a row on the way to 5 straight sectional titles that really should have been 7 in a row..

casey was a very good player.
Wouldn't be surprised if Kevin wrote that post himself
Devlin was a gifted athlete who would have thrived in a program like South Seneca or a bigger more basketball focused school
Naples doesn't care about their basketball and probably never will
Kevin Casey's Dad was a big wig in Naples and pressured his coach's from Kevins frosh year on up to play him over more gifted players ahead of him.
Kevin would berate team mates who wouldn't get him the ball when he was closing in on 1000 points for his career
The best guard recently from Naples was Sam Hubley who not only could straight up take over a game but also got him team mates involved
Nick Mannella and Tommy Mannella also were studs who woulda been even better at a school with a basketball focus

devlin was a stud and i think played in college.
caseys dad was a big wig -- but a great guy -- i don't think he had to pressure anybody -- casey could play.
i can't speak on him berating the other players.
the mannella brothers were solid players, but definitely spent more time on soccer, thus the reason they won a state championship in soccer.
sam hubley was a lot of fun to watch and was a great all around athlete. he could play any sport at any school. if you gave that kid a year and he would be a top 2 or 3 player in any sport at any school. he also played on naples state championship team.
i think you are right that naples didn't care much about basketball. if they did and spent as much time with those athletes on basketball that they did on soccer, they might have looked at a championship in basketball with the state champion soccer kids.

I disagree. Rob Platt was one of the smarter HS players ive seen play. He was a good athlete and had good post moves to go with a soft touch. I remember going to a fair amount of RJ games where he played like the better Platt brother.
Heres my all-time team fro Bloomfield:
John Eshleman - F- Graduated in 2005. The best 6 foot 2 post player ive probably ever seen. There was no one in Finger Lakes West who was in good enough shape to stay with him for an entire 32 minutes. An absolute beast, correct me if im wrong but I believe he had something like 3 40 point games his senior year in a season where he averaged close to 30 PPG and 12 RPG. A great talent that unfortunently never got to play the perimeter because of a lack of another post presence on the team. Played 1 season at Roberts Weslean I believe.
Jim Bellis - G - Graduated in 2002. 6 foot 4 point guard who was not only flashy but smart. I remember watching him play when I was a kid and he could really play. Went to Ithaca and put on major muscle and became one of their All Time leading scorers. Probably the most sucessful college basketball player to ever come out of Bloomfield.
Dave Conklin - G - Graduated in the mid to late 70s. I cant say I know much about him as a player other than he was one of the two best players (along with Andy Rogers) on the Bloomfield team that was a few points away from winning states in 1978. He also was a three time Section 5 All Tourney Team. Went to Alfred U and became a successful player there.
Andy Rogers - C - Graduated around the same time as Conklin. I heard this guy was a workhorse in High school who would catch the ball on the break and dunk over anyone who was unfortunate enough to get in his way. Is said to be the best player on that Bloomfield team in the late 70s who made that state run. Could have been a good college player too but became a farmer instead.
Donald Rayburn - Played for Bloomfield in the 1950s, hes Jake Rayburns grandfather. Its pretty well known in Bloomfield that he was the best athlete the school has ever had. Was the first Bomber to get 1000 points in his career, and holds Bloomfield's record for most points in a quarter with 24. Also a stud in soccer and baseball, he went on to Ithaca where he played all three sports.
6th Man : Jake Rayburn - F - The best player in Finger Lakes West for the last two years. With the exeption of ER, no other team couldnt even come close to stopping him. I watched him play AAU and he was an even better player running the fast break then he was in the 1/2 court. People do not realize it but he could play pretty well on the perimeter too. Is currently at Hobart where hopefully he'll get good minutes and carve out a good role on the team as a freshman.

If were going to go back in time for bloomfield lets go. The 78 team lost buy 1 point in Triple OT Andy Rogers 6'4 center Steve Rogers 6'2 forward, Dave Conklin 6'1 forward and gaurds were Wally Campbell and Tim Collins. They were a well balanced team.
The 76-77 sectional champ teams were also.
Then you have the undefeated team from the 73 season I believe
So take the 5 from the 78 team and lets add
Donald Rayburn Sr 50's Center /Forward
John Hudson 73 Forward
Robert Coles 73-76 Forward
James Bellis 73-76 Gaurd
Brian Twilleger 79-81 Gaurd
Darrel Joesph 79-81 Forward
James and Joseph Bailey 79-82 Forward/Gaurd
Jeramy Langan late 80-early 90'sCenter
Jimmy Bellis Gaurd
John Eshleman Gaurd/Forward
Jake Rayburn Center
So that would be the team from Bloomfield i would Take

I like Jake Rayburn a lot. His Jr. year I wouldn't say he was the best player in FLW. Mynderse was in FLW that year and David Lynch was the best player in the league that year. Also, that year you have to look at Zach Alesheimer from South Seneca who was a tremendous player.
