Decided to go out to Alexander with my friend whos daughter was playing for Batavia in the Alexander tournament Sunday. It was an interesting tournament that I haven't seen anyone run before, it was 3 players on the floor and a goalie. With only 3 players on the floor there was a lot of open space, very few fouls or stoppages in play, and some pretty good soccer. The open play really catered to the teams that moved the ball quickly and players that didn't get stuck in the "I play defense, I never go up the floor" mentality. Williamson ended up winning the tournament 2-0 over one of the Alexander teams and it was a great game. Williamson scored very early and then scored when Alexander was changing late in the game.

Williamson beat one of the Batavia teams in the first semi-final, Alexander's 2 teams played in the other semi final with one of them winning (obviously).

Williamson was fun to watch, they used their goalie a lot and continually pulled the ball back into their defensive half to set things up and spread the floor out. Alexander played a lot of balls into the center to whoever was up top and then ran overlaps around the sides which worked well. The other teams were playing a lot more direct and dribbling to much which didn't work well for them. While Williamson won and was definitely the best overall team, Alexander's Anna Dominick was in my opinion the best player. She must have had 10 goals or more in the 4 or 5 games she played.

Fun tournament to watch and less players on the floor made the soccer a lot better than other tournaments that I have been at in the past that cram too many players on the floor and it results in pinball soccer and foul after foul (either called or not called).

I like this take on Indoor Soccer. I agree it is much more fun to watch with fewer players on the floor. Very nice post
