Here is a little hats off to all lineman throughout Section V. The young men that never get any credit but get all the critizism. How many times have you heard the fans yelling "block line", "come on the line has to block". But you never hear "great block", "good job line". Thats because the fans are too busy reaping the benefits of good line blocking such as touchdowns, big runs and long pass plays. Well big boys in the trenches I support you. Especially all of you that play both ways getting your bodies pounded so your faster teammates in the traditional glory positions can post big numbers. Just remember lineman that a touchdown for your receivers and backs is a touchdown for you. No glory involved but be happy with the accomplishment. I just hope that more fans and coaches take the time to thank their lineman. Have you hugged a lineman today? For those lineman who wish to play in college, I sure hope that your coaches are putting your names out there along with the backs and receivers whether its NAIA, D3 etc. In the meantime keep fighting in those trenches boys. You are the heart and soul.

Great post and thread topic, blitz14!

I'm from a family of linemen. My Dad was a lineman for Coach John Sullivan's early 1940's Aquinas teams. My older brother was a lineman for McQuaid in the early 1960's. I was a lineman for Cardinal Mooney in the early 1970's. My nephew was lineman with Spencerport's first varsity team in the mid 1990's. My sons became linemen with the Chili Lions in the late 1990's and my youngest is playing in his 11th season this year as a two-way lineman with the undefeated Churchville Chili Saints! Great running backs attain spectacular numbers running behind great lines!

That is a great post and great reminder to many that football is NOT a one man sport. It takes 11 men to take that ball down the field. My son taught me that, and I witness that every week. Those linemen take a beating and are in my opinion the toughest guys out there. They have to be prepared mentally and physically, just like everybody else out there, but maybe on a slightly different level. And I agree, hats off to all linemen out there!!

In my opinion there are two kinds of people in this world, those that have to love what they're doing (Receivers, backs and qb's), and those that take pride in doing a good job (Linemen). Linemen know all games are won and lost by them and need no praise for what they do. It is nice to see from time to time that people understand their value to a team though. :D

If you know anything about Churchville Chili you know their line is being touted as not only the best in the state but possibly the best ever in Section V, and yes that includes Webster in the glory days, which says a lot. I constantly hear their coaches praising the offensive line and telling their rb's to thank their linemen.

A team with an outstanding offensive line usually possesses a good rushing game. The Saints rushing attack has been awesome this year. Averin Collier has rushed for 874 yards and averages 12 yards every time he touches the ball! Chris Vitale has rushed for 600 yards for an 8 yard per carry average.

The Saints offensive line is awesome. From tackle to tackle:

Left Tackle Dan Brewer 6'3" 230 lbs.
Left Guard Joe Yanaitis 6'2" 225 lbs.
Center Brett Mastrella 5'11" 215 lbs.
Right Guard Steve Dunn 6' 265 lbs.
Right Tackle Dave Kubarycz 6'1" 265 lbs.

They are strong and athletic and can move and block in space very well. Add FB Nate Boland 6'2" 230 lbs. and TE Matt Kerwin 6' 215 lbs. and skilled running backs such as Averin and Chris get their yardage in chunks. According to the magazine, Bigger, Faster, Stronger, the Saints are one of the strongest high school football teams in America.

Any of them have college offers yet? Would be great if you could keep us updated on college offers to Section V players.

Unless a player is a 4 star prospect, they won't be offered until after the season is over and it's closer to signing day. That entire line is being looked at by D-1 and D-1AA teams and all the guys have been getting "fan mail" from prospective programs, but they haven't been offered yet. For sure, I'll post about it here if and when any of the Saints are offered.
