I didn’t think my sons last game as a senior would be so hard to deal with, but it’s actually been harder than I ever could have imagined. So many thoughts and emotions go through your mind at a time like this; then you realize you never really prepared yourself for when it’s finally here.

Parents, please enjoy the time you have watching your kids play! Trust me, it goes by fast! Go to the games, get involved, be supportive of all of their efforts…fill those stands on Friday nights!! Not only do they deserve it, but the pay off is well worth the effort you put in!

Bombers, it’s been nothing more than an honor watching you boys grow into the young men that you are today. Seniors, you should be proud of the job you’ve done leading the ‘07 team the way you have. Your hard work and dedication shows in the way the underclassmen look up to you! Keep your heads up; you have nothing to be ashamed of! Best of luck in all of your future endeavors! Neal, Conor, Michael, Danny, Matt, Brendan, Marshall, Phil…It’s time for you to step up! Pick up right where we left off next year. You will be the leaders now, you will set the example! Take what you’ve learned and take it to the next level! Make the seniors proud…prouder than they already are. Hearing what some of you said about Nick after the game last night, well, I just don’t know what to say…thanks! You kids will always have a special place in my heart!
Coaches, thanks for an amazing season! You should be very proud of your accomplishments…speaking on behalf of the parents, we couldn’t be prouder! Personally I’d like to thank you for making Nick the football player he is today. He thinks the world of all of you and its going to be very difficult leaving this chapter of his life behind!
And lastly, to everyone who’s ever given Nick support and kind words over the years, Thank You! You have no idea how much it means to us, and more importantly, to him!

Thanks,

…remember: "It's easy to have faith in yourself and have discipline when you're a winner, when you're number one. What you've got to have is faith and discipline when you're not yet a winner."
~ Vince Lombardi

We Love You #80!!

I'm very serious here when I say that was touching. Its nice to see a DAD so very proud of his son! And from the sounds of it, your son must love you to death..Well put and good luck!

Mr. Fischer... you exhibit all that is good and honorable with high school sports. You support all of the hard work & efforts by the kids and also understand the valuable life lessons that sports teaches on a daily basis. I think there are many of us on this forum who bleed for you and your son in his last hurrah. There are certain players, from other schools, that I silently root for and Nick is one of those. I don't know him from the man in the moon, but I sure have gotten to know his dad. If he becomes half the man you reflect on this forum, he will become a superior adult. May he and your family find many successes.

I have been in your shoes with this type of loss and it is only more diificult when it ends the year in a senior season. Once the initial " shock " wears off, the one consolation is that the memories that you guys ( and mom ) can reflect on, as a family, will last a lifetime. Please keep us all informed about Nick's future goals. I, for one, would love to follow his future successes !!

From Your Uncle and Brother ,

The post you wrote earlier this morning to the players and the parents was very intense and heart felt, I feel your pain and emotions too. Through you and Nick, I have learned a greater love for the game of football at the highschool level. These boys give everything they can to the game for the sake of the game, and not a paycheck.
Having the privledge of following Nick through out his years of playing football,
has been one of my fondest memories and privleges in life. The past two years esp.
I've seen the emotion from the boys , the coaches, and the fans and it doesn't get any better then high school football.
I want to thank the team and the coaches for allowing me to be on the field this year taking pictures of the boys playing, it too has allowed me to see things that people in the stands don't, The intencity, the pain, the glory, the wins and saddly the losses.
Everyone needs to be very proud of all the boys that played on the ERG team this year and for years to come.

It's been an Honor Boys,

MF

I think your words ought to be put in front of every parent, player, and coach involved in youth athletics. Thank you

Also having a senior on the Bombers I know where you are coming from. It has not been a fun weekend :( and he can't believe it is over. I mean you think about it many of these kids have been playing football together for half of their life. Heck DFisch80 you coached them back on C-team.

They had a heckuva run though. :)

I loved to watch them play over the last 9 years.

difisch80, that was a great post. I hope very parent that has a child that plays sports takes the time to read it as a reminder to appreciate every moment. I have a son whos passion is basketball, and there is nothing I enjoy more than watching him play. You made me even happier that he is only a sophomore. Thanks.

I've never had the opportunity to watch your kid play, but I've heard how good he is. I wish him the best and know that he will do well in college ... in both football and schooling.
I enjoyed the opportunity to chat with you during the ER/Oakfield game and know that you are one of those special parents. I meet 10-15 parents every week and most of them could give a crap about their kid's high school careers. Most of the time I blow those people off.
You, my friend, are a great parent and can take pride in what your child has done with his life. Thank you for being there for him and being a great parent. You don't need to hear this from me, but your kid is going to be a good person that understands how to live life. Part of that is sports and part is good parenting.
Please allow me to extend my best wishes to Nick, I'm sure he will do well.
