whatever the workout the girls at Canandaigua, Penfield, pittsford Mendon are doing, we should be doing that same workout at RH for our girls, because i am tired of those teams showing us up at the XC meets...........Step it up or get ready for a long season running behind those other 3 schools.....

With all due respect, that is the most short-sighted, ill-informed post I have ever read.
I think you will find the RH girl's x-c team beat all three of those schools as recently as the 2009 "regular" season. Knowing their programs, that was a very commendable achievement. A young RH girls team lost to terrific state-ranked teams from Canandaigua and Mendon yesterday but unless the result page is lying they have yet to run against Penfield.
If in fact you would associate their wins and losses solely based on their coaching and training, how would you account for the RH boy's # 2 state ranking? Same coaching staff, same training philosophy.
There are a bunch of gifted runners in class A, what team they are on is more a matter of geography and luck than coaching. How they develop is a matter of natural talent, determination, drive and yes, coaching. RH is blessed to have dedicated and knowledgeable coaches and the RH running program has the record to prove that. More so, RH has had a very good run at getting great athletes out for cross country (both boys and girls).
If you are a parent and you have already predetermined that the RH girls will ultimately loose to Penfield this year, you are doing your daughter a tremendous disservice and should seriously consider not speaking to her for the next two months.
As for everything else that your post exposes about your lack of knowledge about high school sports and particularly cross country, it's better to not say anything if you don't understand the topic than to open your mouth and prove it.

Whatever. I stand by everything I wrote and would suggest Shay Tuite as a perfect example.
Throwing the coaches under a bus two weeks into the season is ridiculous on an amazing amount of different levels that, unfortunately don't resonate with you.
I'm quite sure there isn't enough room in your world for your ego, Bobby Knight and me, so, believe me I'm good outside looking in but thanks for the offer.

So are you suggesting that the only reason why the R-H girls aren't the #1 team in the state right now is because they lack dedication? I'm sure that they're just as dedicated to running as any other team. Why won't you get off their backs?

Congratulations, what is your name so I can look up all the the jaw-dropping accomplishments you had in your professional career? ...lol. Why would you ever run that much every day? All you're doing is getting a good run in for the morning, and then destroying your body in the evening. The R-H girls don't need to run even half that much haha. In fact, I find it ridiculous that you even questioned the coaching methods or passion at that school (one that has 8 sectional titles, and just about as many 2nd place finishes in the last 3 years between the boys and girls running squads), especially if you are the parent of an athlete from R-H as you implied in an earlier post. They have been a dominating force this season, and are improving every week. They are taking down those teams you named in a previous post. And as was mentioned by split 7's, it's the same exact staff that handles the boys team, which you don't seem to be criticizing for some reason. Though I see you have posted comments supporting R-H, I suggest you don't comment any further because you are merely making assumptions (incorrect ones, might I add). Congratulations to Coach DeMay and the R-H girls on a very fine season so far, and keep up the good work.

When i did play football, every night I would go to the track at edison, and run around it 40 times, the track and xc people would also be there doing their workout, even after my 30th lap, i would still race them and beat them until i was at my 40th lap, i didnt know anything about xc then, but dude let me tell you, I was a natural at that sport, i could sprint the last 3 laps full speed. Need to step it up , cause i'm tired of seeing you guys get beat down when you go out of town...how does it feel when your damn near 2 football fields behind a person, and you just don't have the strength to catch them, that means that person works out harder than you, your lazier than that person, so either work harder on your running or give the sport up, or just don't compete, do it for fun...

It would appear that the "runners around here" actually go out and attempt to match up with the top teams in the NATION. At this point in the season, losing to the number 1 nationally ranked team, and the number 10 nationally ranked team may be okay in terms of getting experience for later on. Your perfect football team (ranked 638 in the nation), however, would have roughly NINE MILES of buses of teams ranked ahead of them. (1 bus = 36 ft or 11m) x (2 buses per team) x (638 teams) = 14,036m... (14,036m)/(1600m = number of meters in a mile) = 8.8mi. In terms of something you may be able to comprehend, THAT'S DAMN NEAR 15,500 FOOTBALL FIELDS OF BUSES OF TEAMS IN FRONT OF YOURS! When you baby your team into thinking that they are the best with an easy schedule, perhaps it becomes easier to think that any time a team loses, it's because they aren't competing? I'm still not sure I follow your logic. We support the football team, but seriously, shut the hell up.

I invite you to actually check out the stats from past national meets and interstate competitions. Consistently, New York teams are at the top. Since the Nike Nationals meet began in 2004, the New York girls have dominated, having a team win each year, and only one year where two of the top three teams were not New York teams. Boys have had similar success, to a slightly lesser extent. Since 2004, New York boys have placed at least one team in the top three, three separate years, placing first and third in 2005. As far as distance running goes, New York is one of the premier states for the sport, consistently producing several outstanding teams and individuals. Section V cross country and track programs are consistently amongst the top teams in the state. Thus, Section V is actually quite strong. If you see any flaws with my point of view, please, do inform me. I wouldn't want to do anything but "keeps it real."

And what I'm saying is that out of any similarly sized geographic, or to be more fair, populated, area, Section V is at the top. It isn't fair to compare section V to the remaining entirety of the state.
http://www.tullyrunners.com/RankStateBoys.htm... Scroll down to the class A rankings and you will find that in the top 20 ranked runners, five section V runners are included. This is more than any other section, indicating that out of New York State, section V is one of the best. Going back to my comment earlier about how New York is at the top of country's running: using the law of sillyjizzin (or is it syllogism?) if New York is one of the best states (arguably the best) in the Nation, and Section V is one of the best sections (arguably the best) in New York state, you will reach the conclusion that Section V is one of the best areas for running in the Nation. However, the junk yard dawg fallacy may be applicable, using ignorance and stupidity to negate logically argued points.
Edit: That "kid from webster" happened to be a state champion in the steeple chase in outdoor track this past year, improving on his runner-up finish in 2010.

http://tullyrunners.com/RecNysBoys.htm <--- a rather helpful reference mr.junk yard dawg...but just to give you a partial preview this is the class records for NYS dating back as far as 1965 so "Emmett Watts" doesn't appear to be amongst this list anywhere. Its also stated that the fastest mile ever ran was by Matt C. so I'll diagnose your mental disease of schizophrenia since you are apparently the child of someone who ceases to exist according to any record holders in NYS, from East High, by the name of Emmett Watts.

They use to be able to run around a track 60 times, ask the people out in greece, these guys use to be some serious runners, until we came to henrietta, and they got KOOL, to kool to run anymore. They would've been the top runners around this town, putting this area on the map, plus they were on the honor roll in greece, came to henrietta, and it all fell apart..You know Derick and Emmett are athletes, they just couldn't handle Henrietta...

If your definition of "kool" is smoking marijuana and drinking alcohol then yes they are now very very "kool" but i really doubt they were running 60 laps around a 400m track...if you do the math that's 15 miles. That would mean they were doing 15 miles "back then" which is when there... what? 12 years old? That's ridiculous!

Won the modified championship in the 7th grade for xc, she started varsity in the 8th, now shes just in the 9th, i also have her little sister alexia in the 6th, that could run varsity right now, but shes to young , she will be on the varsity team next year, unless she plays soccer, Derick and Emmett were good runners also, i just made the mistake of pushing them towards football and basket ball, and baseball, my freakin mistake, cause i really like the runners world better, just to much bull in the other sports...When they got in trouble in school , sometimes it was 80 laps, i tell you no lie...I wish i would've knew more about xc.....I blew it, better atmosphere and everything.

I tell you no lie about the running, 40 ,60, to 80 laps, and 20 crabs the whole 100 yard football field, then run the bleachers 50 times......ask the people in greece if you think I'm lying, we lived on one of those highschool tracks out there....I'm not bragging, it just pisses me off, that i moved to henrietta, and everything fell apart....

Now, now, my dear Hippo, let's not forget that we is booty around here! Mr. Dawg didn't want to waste his kid's time with us. They're far superior and had no business fooling around with such melancholy.

Doing that much running would literally take 4-5 hours, plus iv'e seen Henrietta and its not that bad of a place. Obviously if you work hard something good is going to come out of it; but when you talk negatively about some peoples teams because of how you think they should train your gonna have the entire section against you because you cant back up your point of view. Any true runner would know that its not about the amount of mileage you put in, its about the quality combined with a good amount of base. Tracks have no hills, no resistance, just because you do 15-20 miles on one does not mean you will get that much better. Plus the surface is still harder then grass and the injuries it would cause are enough to end your running career for sometime. All the workouts you have posted above are football workouts not cross country workouts...they will not help you run a 5k, they will help you tackle a kid. That's not part of our sport.

Mr. Woofer,
Your son ran cross country in 2009, after being kicked off of the football team--perhaps you forgot? On the two to three days a week that he would show up, he would struggle through runs (with the lower part of the team), tell teammates about how he liked to steal things, and proceed to inform them about how he was better than they were. When it came to his first and only race of the season, he did not finish.

Before we left Greece, he was the best distance runner around, when you guys ran with him in 2009, he had stopped running for 3 years or so, he was trying to be a little thug, he didnt care about running no more, but in his mind, he knew he would've been better than you guys if he had stayed at it, but the kid is 6'5 and his basketball game is almost back to where it was, so he'll probably be AGR in b-ball this year, and hes passing all his classes, so don't count the tall guy out yet....hes a survivor....been through hell and made it back....

So what your saying is that you assume your fighting with children?...When in actuality you are arguing with intelligent college students who need not go to bed because they have classes much later in the day. I'm gonna help this whole situation out and say the section does not need people like you trying to lead it in a certain direction because guess what, the reality is whatever the "old days" were like; they are now over. "Blood" is B.S. just cause a parent is good at something does not mean their children will also be good. Biologically that's not a given. Your work ethic is horrible because all you do is lie about what you thought you ran... "4 minute miles" were not produced by you so you can stop trying to say you ran them. You didn't, and also the coaching of every team in section V is more elite then what you put your son's through. If you want to prove they are good runners then make them do track and have them try and win something big. Ill be waiting to see the results.

lol you act like none of us know Emmett... he's a funny guy... but athlete isn't what comes to mind when i think of him. derek is a monster... at football. i remember when derek tried doing track and quit because it was too much work. i remember when emmett tried xc and talked about how it was "too damn far" to run. i'll ask them if they ran 10-20 miles a day for you in Greece... they'll say no because it's a damn lie. Alexia is amazingly talented as a young girl (as many are, and then they burn out)... Shaylyn Tuite was on a whole other level at that age. I believe she placed 12th at the state meet as a 7th grader, and had 5 top-10 finishes in her other 5 years running... and placed TOP TEN IN THE NATION last year. nobody in the history of the section has run at that level. everything you're saying is a completely outrageous lie that NOT ONE damn person on this thread believes. if you think they're so talented and they were prodigies, GET THEM BACK ON THEIR MARATHON TRAINING YOU HAD THEM ON BEFORE and have them race any of us in any distance. that way you can stop talking and back up your talk. or maybe you should pick a distance and race any of us? you're on the wrong damn forum, this is a sport for educated and intelligent people, not for ignorant arrogant people like you. honestly, i'm not sure how your account hasn't been banned yet. do us all a favor and listen to the subliminal message dropped by the pumpkin guy.

A good option considering the forcast,(rain) and the fact that GV is a swamp right now. It will be a true 5k and should be fast. The groomed trails will take the abuse of the many races, the only down side I see is the start and finish could get mucky being on grass.

We got an email thursday morning telling us about the change. 9 out of the 24 schools racing have run here before, and mine is not one of them. Apparently the hilton coach wants it to be here every year, but i hope not. it out of they way for soooo many of us.
The county champions went off very well today. The county coaches that worked to set up the course did a great job to make this as enjoyable and fair contest for all the runners. Congrats to all the runners.
