Well the Batavia football season has come to a sad ending last night. Actually an embarrassing ending. The game versus Livonia ended with over a minute left to play because of personal fouls and unsportsmanlike penalties on Batavia. In the Batavia Daily news, the coach from Livonia states that the fear for his players and the conduct of Batavia players led to the game ending abruptly. This is embarrassing and a horrible reflection of where the program of Batavia is today.
I know some of the fans and reporters think that they are getting better, but let's get real. They lost to Brighton, which only has a win or two if that this year. They lost to Arcadia, and now Livonia. Fans of Batavia football would be embarrassed by these losses.
I understand that the head coach is not working in the district, but the following is embarrassing.
only 22 players on the team.
The received numerous penalties each game.
Finally, the conduct of the players at the end of the Livonia game. This is unexceptable and a reflection on the coaching staff. Bottom line.
The coach should keep his players in line, whether winning or losing. A teams needs to win or lose with first class.
I do not know where Batavia football will go from here. But right now, it's at a huge low point.

I watched that sideline go out of control last year when Eastridge lit Batavia up. Kids swearing/fighting with each other, slamming helmets to the ground, it was ugly. It seems like its at the point where they are held hostage by the bad apples just to have the numbers to field a team. I remember when Batavia used to be a damn hardnosed team that would whip your butts when you came into Vandetta on a Friday night, it was never an easy place to play.

Geiger is attempting to bring that spirit back to Batavia, and it isn't his fault that happened. Like was said previously, he is kind of stuck with what he has because there just aren't numbers. If there is an incident like in Elba this year where multiple players get suspended, the season is over. As much as I love the city of Batavia and I think it's a great place to live, there just isn't the support by members of the community.
Geiger is trying his best to get the young kids involved and get an interest in football but like I've said previously ... there are too many sports in Batavia and many people just don't give a crap about their kids and athletics.
There are a lot of good kids on that team and a few bad apples apparently, so the situation is sad to see for those guys that have worked hard and buy into the program.
I fully support Geiger and think he has the potential to bring Batavia back to glory. I just hope the community and school gives him the opportunity.
What do you think will happen if he ends up not sticking around? Batavia will not be able to hire a quality coach because who the heck would want the job at that point and any interest he has built with the kids will go right out the window.

I saw Batavia play twice this year and both times the Indians ran the reservation so-to-speak.
Certain players on that team just can't stop with the antics — whether its yelling obscenities at the opposing players or refs or late (cheap) hits or poor sportsmanship throughout.
But there were about 10 players who did shake hands with Livonia afterwards, I commend those 10 — they showed class.

Batavia Football is a disgrace and they are awful! I feel bad for other sports at batavia because they get a bad rap from the football team. Who trys to blow up a QB when he's taking a knee? Batavia thats who

After the negative publicity this one got, I would be surprised if something drastic doesn't happen over there.
Batavia football needs a 'Zero Tolerance' rule, if a player uses foul language at an opposing player or ref — gone.
That's what always seem to srat the ball rolling over there.

Batavia players were yelling obscenities (Bigtime) at the officials and fans. They also took several cheap shots at Livonia players. At one point one Batavia player even screamed a four-letter paragraph at one of the Livonia coaches.
It was way worse than the Batavia story that was written in Saturday's Daily News paper.

Batavia's program is a complete disaster and embarrassment.
I feel bad for the kids like conors that have their image ruined by the classless acts of foolish teammates.

i am not defending anyone's actions by any means, but please do not think that this was a team of thugs. a lot of people are saying that the whole team lost control. They didn't. a select few did. But their actions overshadowed the teams. They acted selfishly, no doubt about it, and i'm sure there will be penalties for their actions handed out. I was disgusted with the way they acted. I didn't bust my ass all winter and summer in the weight room for them to act like that. I didn't bust my ass at physical therapy to just play in one more game after tearing my mcl for them to act like that. our coach definitely didn't deserve it, after what he did for them, how he went the extra mile... it was just selfish. that's all i'm saying. i'm done.

The rogues of Batavia are not only an embarassment to themselves and their town, theyre also an embarrassment to Section V. I have played them before, and they really dirty. And by dirty I mean in the not-meant-for-the-game kind of dirty, not the well its a part of football dirty.

I hardly think that Batavia football is a disgrace. I have watched a lot of section v football the past couple of years, and I don't see Batavia doing anything different than anybody else. They play hard and won;t be pushed around. They are a B class school who plays probably the toughest schedule in NY state, check it out they play mostly A and AA schools while every other B class teams play mostly other B c and Attica plays mostly D class schools. So give Batavia some credit they have to fight to survive within their league.

The key words "FIGHT to survive"=dirty, cheap play.

oh jeez. you're cute..football#1, whoever you are. i really like the king conors72 though. i'm not really too worried about football. i never thought it would get me very far. it was something nice to do during high school, and sure i got a few looks from division three schools.. i'm not amazing, you're right. i am very average. actually, there are times when i suck too. but that's life you know.. nothing special. sure, i was just being a hard ass with the whole trashing the leroy line thing. but i knew someone or other would get all worked up about it, so mission accomplished i guess. and puhleaseee don't start with the win as a team lose as a team thing. being retarded at the end of the game and giving the opposing teams fans the middle finger to "show them" is just stupid..completely stupid. you're not "showing" anyone, you're just furthering the problem. drawing that much bad attention to your program, because it's your one big last hurrah. just stupid. i'm willing to bet most anyone on this site will agree with me. it takes a bigger man to walk away. i've said that all year. they'll agree with me on that too. The reason i made those posts was not to absolve myself, but try to save face, once again, for our program, like i've been doing all season. This was not a team of thugs. There were so many good kids on that team. Unfortunately the actions of a few make the program look like it's running out of control. Which reflects poorly on the head coach. So now our coach has to put up with all this undue stress. We're so lucky to have him here, and he doesn't get the respect back that he's given his team. I loved my team this year. I really did. We started out as a family. I don't think any unit could have been more unified at the beginning of the season. we were unified throughout most of the season, with the exception of the arcadia game. i will never ever ever discuss what happened after that. that was only for the 25 people in that locker room. after that the group without a doubt became more unified as the season progressed, even after missing sectionals. the season just ended on a low note. there's a serious divide between sticking up for your teamates and just being flat out retarded. i didn't trash my teamates. their actions trashed themselves. i've stood up for them alllll year when they've done stuff. And every time all i would here about was how my parents raised me to be a little bitch because i stayed at home and did my homework instead of going out and making "poor decisions". So lets not get into a thing where i am the ultimate team killing benedict arnorld character. Almost every kid on that team, especially the underclassmen, i still have a ton of respect for.
also......Unless you were at practice, don't judge how hard i played.
Seriously-not your place. and also shut up with the whining about my injury. also, i am not taking advice on life from some mystery person that hates my guts on a website. that's just stupid too. I think i'll make my own decisions, thank you very much. and not worthy to clean their shoes? i was their waterboy, so i'm sure i'm worthy to clean their shoes. But alas, i have homework i have to get done, because i plan on going somewhere and being successful someday. Have fun continuing to post about the season that could've been. see you at the banquet. ;)
Good for you stand up for what is right. continue to stand up for your team, which by the way if they played the kind of schedule the rest of section v played they may still be playing. these players who are bringing negative attention to the team, I would bet where all me me me players and not team players. Wasn't hard to who was NOT A TEAM PLAYER.

Connors or anyone else who can answer this. i really think the lack of discipline goes back the head coach. Connors, did coach guiger(sorry for the spelling), every tear your team a new butt hole, during the season or after the livonia game? Does he get in the players face, angry, etc. Or is he always positive. I know that he comes from the Churchville program, where coach Dick is a preacher type, and prays a lot. Coach Dick even prayed with the team at the end of the Marshall game. Bottom line, is the coach a hard ass at times. Also, what does it look like if the coach is coming back next year? Will he return. A coach needs to be at the high school or somewhere in the district. I do not know if there are any Math jobs opening. What happens if there is no teaching position available. What will happen?
