While reading the D&C today, I read the following quote by a Geneva player:

"It's a great feeling," Geneva senior linebacker Jimmy Warner said.

"How many teams can say they've made it to the state semifinals, three years in a row?"

That got me wondering, as I know Forks and Dobbs are now in their seventh straight semifinal, but how many have done three (which is a feat in itself)?

I was expecting about a dozen, but the answer is more than I had expected...18.

Consecutive State Semifinals

7 straight: Chenango Forks and Dobbs Ferry

5 straight: Caledonia-Mumford, Rye, Troy and Amsterdam

4 straight: Clymer, Lackawanna, Edgemont, Tuckahoe and Monroe-Woodbury

3 straight: Onondaga, Syracuse CBA, Jamestown, Cambridge, Ravena, Rensselaer and Geneva

As for overall appearances, the leaders are...

Overall State Semifinal Appearances

8 Final Fours: Cambridge

7 Final Fours: Caledonia-Mumford, Chenango Forks, Dobbs Ferry and Amsterdam

6 Final Fours: LeRoy, Rye, Syracuse CBA, Troy and Tuckahoe

5 Final Fours: Aquinas and Harrison

I imagine I missed a team somewhere in one of the above two groupings, maybe not.

Great Stats Mike, looks like another great final 4 this season.

Mike: How do you see the Geneva/Forks Rematch? Can Forks Stop Geneva's Jermiah Allen?

Hows the Walton/Bolivar-Richburg match up shaping up?

Everyone visit Mikes Website http://www.section4football.com he does a great job and I'm sure he has info on B-R's opponent Walton & Geneva's opponent and Section V nemesis Chenango Forks.

Should be another great game between Geneva and Forks. The above link will bring you to the teams homepage.

Looks like Forks must be hated by Westhill and Cazenovia as they have ended good runs by those programs denying them the chance at the dome (old final 4/championship) multiple times.

I was wondering, Mike, what team has had their season ended by another team the most times in New York?

To make it easier we could say intersectional but I was wondering at all levels.

Good stats.
As for the quote though Jim ment coming out of the finger lakes I'm suspecting. Kids dont go in depth like adults and its not like any section worrys about any other section until the state playoffs. So to redetermine the stats if you will, how many teams from section 5 have been to the state semi finals 3 years consectutive?
