I ran varsity cross country, indoor track, and outdoor track at Oakfield-Alabama from 2003-2006. I made a lot of great memories and friends over those four years with my teammates. Over those four years, the teams that I was on had a lot of success. We won three team sectional championships in cross country, two sectional championships in indoor track, and three sectional championships in outdoor track. Winning these team championships were the greatest feelings I ever experienced as an athlete. In my opinion, the reason behind our success as a team had a lot to do with our coach, Coach Art Goldstein. Coach Goldstein is more than just a coach with all of his athletes. He is a teacher and role model who looks out for all of us both on and off the field of competition. He has been able to motivate and inspire his athletes to do great things no matter what the final score or end result is. Every year new faces come and go from his teams, yet each year he is always able to unite the team and help produce winners and champions out of all of us. I have never seen a person who stresses the importance of team more than this man. I'm writing this message because Goldstein is retiring at the end of this year from teaching and I'm not quite sure if this is going to be his last year as a coach as well. But whether if it is or it isn't, I would just like to say thank you to Coach Goldstein, for all that you have done in my life and in the lives of many others who you have influenced over the years. Thank you.
