Based on the weather outside, it sure would be nice to be in the south playing in 80 degree temps and sunshine ! However, players in the northeast have ample opportunities to play an abundance of games if they are dedicated and willing to commit to the sport. If you were to take the Bath area as an example, our high school team has scheduled 24 games plus sectionals. The Legion team has 35 games scheduled this summer, playing teams from Rochester, Buffalo, Pa. Ohio, and Canada. That will end up being very close to 60 games played from April 4th until July 20th. That is approximately 17 games, each, in the months of April, May, June, and July or about 420 innings. Your premier pitchers, will get in excess of 100 IP in that time and will face some pretty stiff competition. Baseball in our area does not need to take backseat to anyone, but it needs to be promoted. Hopefully, more sites like this will emerge to provide notice and publicity for our athletes that are very talented and deserve the notoriety. We have always been a baseball-rich area ( Rochester and the Southern Tier of NY ) and have produced many fine players. Good luck to all this spring.
