Tonights the rubber match, Gen-Valley won in the Tip-Off Tourney and Whitesville got revenge, tonight they face again, who Wins? This one's important as it comes down to sectional points, Whitesville's looking to secure the #1 seed in class D and Genesee-Valley's trying to secure a top 4 spot in DD. I'd like to hear your thoughts on this game!

Whitesville won the rubber match 54-50 in a very physical game that saw Whitesville go to the foul line 40 times. so whitesville won the season series 2-1, The Jays are looking pretty good heading into sectionals and have to be the favorite in single D, Dan Heisey led Whitesville with 24 points.

The Whitesville senior put up 44 points and 13 rebounds in a win over Andover last night, Heisey is making a strong case at Class D player of the year.

Even if Heisey wins Class D player of the year, Brubaker will be team MVP. He is their defensive stopper, their leading rebounder, leading assist guy and 2nd leading scorer.

They compliment each other so well, I like to call them the "Dynamic Duo" they're fun to watch, it's been fun watching them develope since their sophomore year. It's too bad they don't have a "Sidekick" a 3rd player to contribute more. If they had a legitimate big man they'd be tough out in the crossover, I think if they do win D they'll have a tough time beating either Prattsburgh, Notre-Dame or Finney.

I think they'll have a tough time with Northstar and Desales again in D.

I'm sorry that someone is giving you bad stats for you to draw poor conclusions with. You were right though about kyle brubaker being the defensive stopper, but that's where your truths end. Dan Heisey is the team leading rebounder, assist guy, and shot blocker. He is also third all time in career pts for Whitesville and school single game scoring record.
For a player that plays as unselfishly as he does, he gets alot of crap. Dan doesn't go out every night and try and score 40 pts, rather he tries to set up his team mates. The only reason he had 44 against Andover is because he saw his team losing 20-7 after the first quater and decided to score. He also stepped up similarly for his team at the end of the GV game by taking over late in the 4th and OT.
Dan Heisey- great basketball player, who also significantly helped the soccer team succeed last season.
Kyle Brubaker- Great soccer player, who will also significantly aid in the success of Whitesville this postseason.

everything that has been said is probably true but isnt it the 2 of them together that makes them good. thats why they are 16-1 right now and will probably win out. i cant wait to watch them come sectional time when they should be at their best.

At the end of my post, I mentioned how each other significantly HELPS their teams in the playoffs even if they aren't the best player on the team. In basketball dan just happens to be the leader, in soccer kyle was. Kyle is essential to the team, he's scotty pippen. Why you gotta hate people?

OldSchool- Thanks for your inside info.
As an outside observer, i just stated how I've seen things in the way too many times I've watched Whitesville over the past 3-4 years and this season. Perhaps the team sees things as you say and they look up to Heisey more for leadership, but if I were coaching against Whitesville, I'd probably key on shutting down Brubaker as I'm not sure it's completely possible to do that offensively with Heisey. If Brubaker isn't getting steals, rebounds and penetrating, the team has a much more difficult time winning.
That said, Coach VanSkiver has this years team playing some of the best team defense I've seen Whitesville play, even the year they went to Glens Falls. They don't have the same inside play that team did so it's almost like they have to play this well to be where the are.

You proved my point. The MVP would be the player that you know u can't stop. Instead key on other integral part of the team that you see as feasible to stop. Does that make the person the MVP? Whitesville is playing great D this year. Their Big guys give up size in almost every game they are in and yet hold their own very well; complements go to Phil Saunders and Derrick. I don't know where you're from or how much Whitesville basketball you watch to say that their D is better. The 2004 Whitesville team held their opponents to 35pts a game. Whitesville may be letting fewer pts up a game this year but I don't know.
The difference between the 2 Whitesville teams is incredible. Whitesville who was once a very big team thrived on set offensives that allowed them to get the ball in low and their ability to out rebound teams. This year's team is guard oriented and runs opponents into the ground with their fast break. Two good teams, the 3 ball makes this year team extremely fun to watch. (Dan and Kyle, the best guard duo Whitesville has ever had)

this is very ture, i have watch the two from the time they started 5 & 6 basketball. the two help each other to be better players. each has his own tools they use on the floor. dan a great shooter inside and out. kyle is geat at driving to the basket and scoring and a great defender bar none. both have no trouble giving up the rock for someone with a better shot. to me they could easily be co-mvp. provided they make the finals and win. not saying they won't but strange thing do happen come playoff time. jays rock
note all: rock will be painted for the finals nuff said hahahahaha
