Who do you think will be the AGR POY? Which players will be on the AGR team?

Kaheem Gist has a good chance of POY, over 2300 yards rushing and 41 tds, thats quite a season

Averian Collier Player of the year,6 aq kids made it,gist made it,eddie jackson made it and chad dillard made it.I thought the best kid in section 5 was chad dillard though.
Eddie Jackson and Chad Dillard made first team???....hummmm, interesting

Chad dillard was easley the best wr in section 5,his team was 8-1 and they lost the one game by 3 points. Now if you want to argue jackson I can see that but he made it as a dback not wr.
It's just interesting to me, thats all. Don't get me wrong, Chad is a great receiver and I'm happy for him. And your right, his team had a great record this year. I'm just curious what your basing your opinion on...stats?? Cause if its stats, I'm gonna have to disagree with you...no disrespect, just my opinion. I'm sure MaxPreps isn't very accurate. It's just after all these years, other than a "vote", I still cant figure out how its decided as to who makes it and who doesn't. I understand any Section V records held aren't supposed to be taken into consideration, thats ok. But besides a vote, maybe alittle politics, maybe the school you attend, maybe even who you know...can you tell me how its decided??
Again, congratulations to Chad and everyone else that was selected. I wish them the best of luck in their future endeavors.

he had 3 great rbs,a decent qb not great but decent. If he would have been on a spread team who knows the stats he would have put up.Coaches and sports writers vote.
O I see, is that how it goes? Is that how they decide who makes first team??...how good his teammates are?? Ok, let’s factor in the offence. ER/G has an amazing QB, arguably the best in all of Section V, (cant wait to get beat up on that) and in my opinion a great running back, and 4 other receivers that put up great numbers as well. They do run spread, how many other schools do?? I like your answer, but if a player makes first team AGR because he’s got some great running backs on his team...well sorry, that just doesn’t make much sense to me. Did any of those running backs make it?? Did Zapata make it?? I still say it’s who you know and where you go!
Sorry, this subject just strikes a really sensitive nerve with me, so I'm going to stop before I say something I'll regret!

Unfortuantely the AGR is about 85% political. Every year it gets worse. Just like the Eddie Meath game. Unstead of being based solely on who deserves it on acomplishments is who wour Coach knows and what kind od pull they have.

just about everyone I heard on the team so far should be on it. You don't put kids on 3-6 teams on it.
...of course you think that. Who said anything about a 3-6 team???

Thats not what it is at all, I have a problem with "flawed" systems.
Believe me, I think Chad is a great receiver and hope he does make it to a D1 school. It's honors like this that will give him a better chance than others. Keep us posted on all of his offers and let us know where he ends up going!

but one thing I can agree with you on is there is some flaws.Collier might be the best kid in section five in fact he is.However, did he have the best season,no,they lost in the first round.Gist set a ton of records and he did not get player of the yr from one of my sources collier got it over him.If this happened that would be wrong I think.
This would hurt the D&C's hype machine though. How could they NOT give it to someone who has sold so many papers for them over the past 6-8 months?
Like you said, Collier is the best player in Section V. He did not have the best season of any player in 2007 though.

When One Of The Other Boys Recieves A Full Ride (d1) They Can Then Be Considered As Good As Averin. Til Then They Are Only Good Players Period. Just My Opion.

Matt Jones accepted one before the season started then he won a state championship. Maybe we should add him to the voting?

I dont think Zapatta should be considered for poy for this year. Yes he broke two major records but he had a better year as a junior. Look at his stats for the year. The only good team he ran for good yards against was Bath. He got shut down by Leroy and Geneva. I also think he was second in his leauge for td's behind McCloud.

Gotta remember Zapata played less than 3 quarters in most every game, I agree his overall numbers might not be as good as last year, but the kid did break the career yards and TD records, as HARD as it is to say I think he is as deserving as any of the big school kids....

Gotta be hard to get coach of the year when you have the hand-picked Section V All-Star team all playing for your school

should be neimen,he had the 5th best team for talent in section five and took them the the final 8 for the state. They had 6 out of 22 make agr, that shows with the talent they had anyone could have won states there.
Why not Dave Whitcomb? He had 18 new starters from the 2006 state championship team and took them to the final four.

Because it would make too much sense and not enough dollars for the D&C.

I'm aware of the fact that Aquinas won states and went 13-0 but I still think getting 6 players on the AGR 1st team is a little much, Some other players deserved recognition.

Theres a nice slideshow of headshots of each player followed by numbers of action shots, over 150 pix in total for first team and almost 50 of the 2nd team members

Nice to see absolutely no GR guys on 1st or 2nd team...gotta love the D&C
yeah. especially since tucker smart and jared dent were both class c players of the year...
that makes no sense how a guy can be player of the year and not make first team AGR

As I said a good political team, ruled by who you know and who has pull. As far as players of the year. Bath had two offenesive players of the year back to back and I belive they got honorable mention...not even 2nd team.

Not a bad idea Greeceman - the larger schools definitely get more pub - would open some spots to some very deserving kids.

I completely agree. Tucker was fantastic this year, and Williams and Shetler probably could have made it too, along with Jared Dent and maybe even McKenrick or Babcock, but the D&C shows no love for the GR

You're about 4 months late, Gist was already named AGR POY so I don't think you need to do any campaigning. I haven't heard anything about him continuing his football career after high school, do you know what he's planning to do?
