My preseason top 5 for next season's player of the year are
1.)Chad Dillard-gates,could be a big east wr if he has a big season
2.)Devin Worthigton-aq,should be top player for defense in section five next season
3.)Ashton Broyld-marshall,could be the top qb for section five next season
4.)Clay Harris-rush,next year they should be a running team he will get alot more carries

Nice List
I Think Devin From Aquinas Will Get It But Defenses Is Going To Shut Down Marshall And Ashton Next Year

Ashton is gonna have to earn that spot, they also have Manny Magliocco coming up from JV, this is of course the brother of Mark Magliocco that was at Aquinas back in my day and also son of coach Mark Magliocco, and they were relying heavily on him to revive the pass game at Aquinas next season. He had a 9-1 season as the starting JV quarterback and saw some time in the end of the Sweet Home game during States, so Ashton needs to really impress the coaches for the spot to be given up.

I haven't heard any rumors about Ashton Broyld, other than what is on this board - but just throwing in my 2 cents - why would he go to Aq? - They are a power run oriented team - he could showcase his talents better in other places
Aq is obviously a great team and they will be for long time with the staff they have over there, but as Arel said they are bringing up a young guy with some great bloodlines at QB, who already knows their system- If I were Asthon and I was going anywhere - First place I would look is RH - they run the spread - they are losing Delone (who was the only QB to make the AGR if I am not mistaken), they are returning Harris and Roberts at RB - and they have the athletes to throw the ball too - Asthon knows the spread and he would better himself to get out of the city league, because frankly it is not a strong league. The only challenge he gets is East and McQ - thats it...Marshall has two great WR's - probably the best around - but I watched them play a few times this year and they don't showcase this kid enough - he is a big time player. There are other options out there if he is indeed going, but after thinking about the season and looking at the teams for next year that would be a logical move - plus if he does hoop - what better place to go?
Personally I think kids should stay where they are unless it's a hardship thing -but since the rumors are flying I couldn't help but to chime in.

CITY CATHOLIC IS ONE OF THE TOUGHEST LEAGUES OUT WAT ARE U TALKIN ABOUT HE HAD HIS BIGGEST GAMES AGIASNT SUBURB TEAMS NOT IN THE CITY AND HE IS
I AGREE WITH YOU ON HE WONT FIT IN ON AQUINAS OFFENSE BUT HE IS BETTER OF STAYING AT MARSHALL WITH THIER OFFENSE BUT IM THE ONLY ONE WHO WOULD KNOW ANY INSIDE INFORMATION FROM BEING A FREIND OF HIS AND KNOWING HIS TALENT BECAUSE IM A DB AND PLAYED AGIASNT HIM ONE TIME

I don't want get into a border war between the city and the county here - I was simply stating any rational fans observation that the county has much better football than the city and that Ashton would be able to showcase his talents more so, against better competition on a week in - week out basis. The City is not a bad league - but it is not as consistently tough as the county schedule -
I know Ashton had big games against C-C when Collier & Boland were sidelined and that he had a good game against D2 Athena in sectionals - but he didn't have the opportunity to test out his talents against teams like Gates, Rush & Pittsford...the big D1 teams we are talking about here.
As for the city:
East is consistently good (lost to Gates at home), McQ is fair (got rolled, at home, by an average Hilton team), and after that it's a crap shoot every year - Wilson had it going last year - not so much this year - Edison didn't fair so well against Gates in sectionals and your mighty Q-Dawgs lost got shutout by D1 cellar-dweller Penfield...how is that tough - please explain?

Franklin ' We Was A Rebuliding Year With All Juniors And Freshman And Sophmores
Edison ' This Was They First Year In The Spread And Did Pretty Good In It
Wilson ' Had A Very Young Line And Injury Problems
Year Before Last Season We Beat Spencerport And Varsity Lost To Penfield By A Fieldgoal And This Our Jv Killed Penfield
Very Young
Any City Team I Name Will Beat Any Of Your Suburb Teams

I borrowed a few scores from the SectionVFootball website to add to our discussion - I included the 2 wins that the city had against the county this year out of the 10 games played - Wilsons other 2 wins vs. Section 6 and Newark don't count - you might as well be playing ,well, LeRoy for that matter - sorry Boobie. I am not talking about rebuilding, youth, or JV teams - I am simply talking about what it is like out there today for these kids.
Take a gander -

Now again - I am not bashing the city - It's decent football - but for week in - week out competition - with no let downs - the county has them beat - and it shows in head to head competition. That is why I was saying that if a player as good as your buddy is looking for better competition I would look at Monroe County Football.

so u saying 2 guys was going to make a difference in the marshall and saints game
okay then look at marshall first game
1-eddie jackson playin hurt
2-freshman qb=500+fans
3-starting runningback was not playing and used a fullback to replace him
4-marshall couldnt hear audibles from churchville die hard fans yealling thier lungs out
5- starting DE ONLY PLAYED A COUPLE OF QAURTERS FROM CRAMPS
A CITY TEAM PUT IT TO A UNDEFEATED SUBURB TEAM WHEN IT COUNTED
IDC WAT YOU DID IN THE SEASON OR POOL PLAY IT'S ALL ABOUT THE PLAY-OFFS

Yes absolutely 2 of the best players in section v will make a difference in a 4 pt game...
In game 1 for Marshall 2 & 4 are not excuses - the others I will give you and that is a major factor
As for sectionals you are absolutely right - scoreboard baby!
But my point still isn't contested - week in and week out the county is more competetive and a better league.
