One of the Deepest Classes last season is once again very deep. Last year Bloomfield won this class and the overall Class C title and reached the Final Four in Glens Falls before falling to eventual State Champion Elmira Notre-Dame.

Perry- 7-0 and Battle tested already, reached the Sectional Finals last season before falling to Bloomfield. This season they've already played and beaten several very good teams picking up a 42-41 win over a very tough Avon team and also won close games over LeRoy & Pavillion. Senior Guard Meg Mclurg leads the way for the Yellow Jackets She's currently leading the entire LCAA in Scoring averaging 17 ppg so far, she's also averaging 10.2 Rebounds good enough for 5th in the LCAA. 5'9" Jr. Teammate Samantha Smithgall is 2nd in the LCAA in Rebounding averaging 11.7 to go along with her 10.0 ppg. So Perry currently has two players averaging Double-Doubles. Sr. Point Guard Kacey Kwiecien is the Floor General and she's averaging 4.6 assists per game & 3.1 Steals per game so far this season. With Multiple Weapons and already holding victories over several contenders, Perry is in good shape for sectionals. Playing in the Way-Co christmas tournament and will open up vs. Class A Brighton, so yet again another stiff test for Perry.

South Seneca -Class C powerhouse has a had a couple of "Down" years that's if you call last seasons 18-5 and losing in the Sectional Semi's a down year, but to Class C Girls Power South Seneca that is a down year. Currently 6-0 and looking tough. Yet to be tested this season they've outscored their 6 opponents 385-139 their closest game was a 54-28 win over Campbell-Savona, they beat Naples 60-21, DeSales 72-19, H-A-C 64-24, Dundee 76-18, & Red Jacket 59-29. Should get some good competition in the Geneva X-Mas Tournement were they open up vs. Waterloo. Second half of the season will see games vs. Bloomfield, Romulus & Honeoye so they'll be tested in the second half of the season. With 7 Juniors and only 3 seniors the Future looks very bright for South-Seneca.

Bloomfield -Last years champ has been hit hard by Graduation and Injuries. Current Record is 5-3 but the Losses are "Good" Losses, losing to Class A Victor 57-45. Class B Marcus Whitman 53-44 & in an out of town tournament in Buffalo 49-44. Have cruised by everyone else. Sr. Guard Brittany White leads the way for the Bombers, Sophomore Sarah Hart has stepped into a Scorers role with the injury to Jen Hudson. 5'9" Sr. Forward Alex Dailey has to play tought down low for the Bombers. Several good outside shooters including Freshman Guard Haley Zambito & Sophomore Emily Socola. With younger players like Zambito, Hart & Socola mixed in with seniors like White & Dailey the future looks extremly bright for Bloomfield.

Geneseo-Off to 5-1 Start, lost in the Class C finals to Notre-Dame but moved up a class this season. Only set-back so far was a one point 35-34 loss to Class BB Dansville (6-2). Very Balanced team with their leading scorers all averaging around the same number of points Sophomore Brynn Young (8.3 ppg) Sr. 5'10" Forward Nikki Kingston (8.3 ppg) & Sophomore Liz Schinski (8.0) give the team plenty of weapons. 5'5" Sr. Guard Taylor Gibbs surprisingly leads the team in Rebounds averaging 7.7 rpg, Kingston is 2nd with 7.3 per game, Young is 3rd with 7.0 per game. With Multiple Weapons Geneseo should be in Good shape come sectional time. Brutal Schedule awaits them as they're in the Avon Christmas tournament and then Play Avon, Perry, Warsaw, Dansville & Pavillion in the second half of the season, so they may not have a "Fat Record" but they'll be ready for Sectionals by then. And playing this type of schedule is very good for the young players.

Pavilion Early exit in last years Sectionals left the Golden Gophers hungary. Off to a Mediocre 3-3 start but have played some tough teams already, Lost to Perry 55-52 to start the season then lost to a very good BB School in Way-Co 63-38 then played and Beat Powerful Avon 40-38 before losing to Keshequa 41-34. 6'0" Senior Center Kristi Jefferies leads the team in Scoring (14.9) & Rebounding (9.2) Sr. 5'9" Teammate Hannah Norton is second on the team in scoring averaging 10.1 points per game to go along with 7.2 rebounds per game. If they're going to put a long sectional run in they'll have to get more consistency out of their team. Right now they're going to Ride Jefferies as far as she'll take them.

I have not seen them play this year but of all of the leagues that supply teams to the C level they seem to play in the toughest. GR and Liv seem to be down a little this year and outside of Marion I don't think anyone from Wayne is that great.

Bloomfield at home, why would that surprise you.
You're talking about a program that has the best girls' coach in New York state.
And his daughter is outstanding.

Well it mainly surprised me because with the way South Seneca had been playing I thought they might be back to the "Glory Days" with Erin Farney, with the Impressive Victories over Waterloo & Geneva in the Christmas tournament, and with the injury to Jen Hudson I really expected Bloomfield to struggle, boy was I wrong.

It was a close game the whole time, so the "bloomfield at home" theory doesn't really hold water. In the end it was decided by the refs. Their calls seemed very one-sided. The same kind of play/moves were called fouls on SS (mostly in the 2nd half) when they weren't on BF. They were also pretty whistle happy in general.....there were about 23 fouls called in the 1st half alone, both teams being in double bonus. When Britney White *finally* got called on one, her father went ballistic on the ref. It might have been a bad call, but SS dealt with their share of them too. Had the fouls been called even, the game would have been anybody's call. The re-match on 1/16 should be interesting.

I was at the Bloomfield SS game and I do not think the refs were the issue. Don't get me wrong the foul trouble hurt, but SS shot terrible from the floor that night and did not execute well. And we should give credit where credit is due White and the rest of the Bloomfield kids played a great game.
