The Batavia boys and girls both won the class C and D Rochester Relays last night with both over a margin of at least 20 points. Over 5 school records were broken and over 10 different relays won medals. It was a very impressive performance and a big statement to all the other competitors out there.

How in the world is Batavia High School competing in C and D classifications. Thats rediculous since they have almost a thousand kids in their school

Not to be a buzz kill but he's right, staying in C when AQ and Newark moved up really cheapens anything you win this year because those 2 and Pal-Mac won everything last year.

On that page look how much bigger the gap between Batavia and Geneva is than between Batavia and the smaller B schools. Batavia should have moved up to B. Does it really mean more to beat those small programs than to contend with the big schools? Look at Aquinas (6th at relays despite being the smallest school there) competing with and beating the Fairports and Penfields of the world, its a shame that the really good athletes in the Batavia track program (their Long jumpers espiecially) don't get to compete there.
Sorry that's just how I feel. And btw congrats to Alexander on that 4x2 time. I'm pulling for you guys up till State Quals.

yeah thats how indoor track works. you either have 0, 1000, 1500, or 2000 students. batavia has 1000, oakfield has 0

I would like to point out that Batavia has an enrollment of 605 students listed and there are 7 schools in class C that are within 100 students of enrollment. Also, some of the smaller schools in the classification are very competetive (wayland Cohocton, Hornell, Leroy etc...) If Batavia was in class B though, they would be over 400 students below the top teams in that classification. While I think that they could be competetive in that classification, they do belong in class C even if they are the biggest school. As to how Aquinas can compete in Class B, they have the ability to attract very good athletes from a number of good districts to offset the enrollment difference.

Batavia held it down on both sides. Every relay was very well put together. I would like to give a shout out to my sprint medley relay who took the gold!

yes batavia won both boys and girls but i wouldnt exactly call it a "clean sweep" what was finally cleaned up though was the question of who has the better 4x2
i applaude batavia for beating all the C schools but its not so hot that you beat the D schools. who is there to challenge you? no one in D has the depth and numbers to compete with a school of your size. you have double the numbers of most of the schools

hahahaha you were lucky to beat us in that 4x2. our third runner isn't normally in that relay and was dusted. congrats on barely beating our 3rd string 4x2.
As for your other complaint. I am so sick of hearing about size when it comes to schools. Could it be that your coaches lack the track knowledge that ours have? Our coaches put together a hell of a lineup for this meet and it paid off. I don't wanna hear the crap about how big our school is or any other schools. Class D could have easily competed with the class C schools

i'm sure that there is no defecincy in alexander's coaches knowledge. and how is it your 3rd string 4x2 if you're meantioning that the 3rd runner is the only one usually not in the lineup?
NSFSB

Hes 3rd string when it comes to our relay. We have a main 4x2. A secondary 4x2 and a 3rd string 4x2. understand?

01-10-2008, 10:47 AM
but does that mean you have 12 different athletes competing on three individual 4x2 teams? If so, that kind of answers the question of whether school size makes a difference.
As far as track coaches goes, I'm pretty sure Alexander's has lead several Sectional winning outdoor programs over the last few years. I think this is only their second year running an indoor program. I get the sense he knows what he is doing.

Yeah we have 100 people competing for one spot.
We have just has many kids on our team as alexander does. So I dont wanna hear how our school is so big

You would be calling it a clean sweep if Alexander won by 20+, besides you can ride your 4x2 for as long as you want but It won't win you a meet

ha. wow. whatever man. show some class.
oh and real quick..how could we possibly be jealous of a relay team we have beaten by over 2 seconds?
and while we're on the subject, our relay has yet to run to it's full potential due to injuries.

Me show some class? Your teammate is crying about losing the first big meet of the year. I'm just defending my team. Why don't you tell your buddy to show some class, i know that's hard for him to do but i mean to cry about losing to a Class C school and then say its because they have a higher classification. come on get real.
Its funny how the only thing you seem to have on us is this 4x2. I'll give you that you beat us. congrats. But I'll take a Rochester relay title and a sectional title over having bragging rights over you guys in the 4x2.

4x2 is not the only thing we got, we also have the 4x4 and sectionals means nothing because we are in different classes and i'm not crying im pointing out how you think you are all cool and tough because you won CONGRATULATIONS!!! big whoop how many sectional patches do you have? and how much did YOU contribute to that win.
hey man i am extensively ecstatic that you are peeing your pants with excitement about the attention your are getting on the internet because you don't get any on the track
this all makes me laugh because im out of pulls-ups and i am a mauture young adult
SERIOUSLY GROW UP IF YOU HAVE SOMETHING SAY TELL ME TO MY FACE AND NOT HIDING BEHIND AN INTERNET NAME. YOU KNOW WHO I AM BECAUSE I MANNED UP AND GOT MY NAME OUT THERE, I CAN TAKE CRITICISM guess you can't handle it.
just remember "agruing on the internet is like the special olympics...
EVEN IF YOU DO WIN YOU'RE STILL RETARDED"
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i will honestly give batavia mad props for winning i looked at the numbers and you are not as big as i was lead to believe. plus your coach did throw some good relays together in good spots to get the win. and im glad i graduate this year so i don't have to run Rob next year he is gonna clean up even more than he already does. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think that it is very good that everyone is so competetive and intense when it comes to their teams and individual performances. I think that The Genesee County teams (Batavia, Oakfield, Alexander, Leroy, BB) all have something to be proud about. Skidmore, Williams and Cowan from Batavia, those distance guys from leroy and a bunch of others have had some pretty frickin good performances this year. Hopefully a bunch of us make it to states this year and represents

Totally agree. There are many strong individuals in the teams mentioned above. And I have to say, every team mentioned above is very competitive with each other. Not trying to slam Batavia here by any stretch, but i think its going to be a dogfight for the team title at the sectionl championships. Many great performances this year.

I think Hornell might be a huge darkhorse come sectionals. They have been quietly putting up good performances. Who knows, maybe Batavia and Leroy will be too busy killing each other at the meet and Hornell will sneak up behind them and grab it themselves.
NSFSB

Yeah Hornell is the darkhorse for class C. Batavia, LeRoy and Bath will be fighting eachother while Hornell gets those 3 and 4th place finishes. It should be a fun championship thats for sure.

Bath may be winning lots of stuff on the track but leroy and batavia will be cleaning up in the field events. therefore bath will be good but will not be as close to batavia and leroy as people think

Very good point. Bath may have the advantage at distance (so they say) but batavia and LeRoy make up for that in other events
