I'm going to agree and go with Aquinas as well due to their size advantage, I'm not sure what's going on with them they've lost two out of their last three and I don't think anyone saw that coming.

The only common opponent is Cansius

Aquinas 67
Cansius 56

Kearney 50
Cansius 44

In their most recent "mini" slump, AQ was down 2 starters. They are back and will give Kearney a great run. Look for a close game. I am going out on a limb here.

Kearney 66-60.

According to Mike (AQ coach) they have had two players hurt and two others out on academic ineligibility. I'm not sure when the players will be back.

Kinda hard not to go with aquinas here. why the huge warning against those who may flame the topic?

I wanted to have a real discussion about a big basketball game, not another "We hate Aquinas because..." thread.

I do think with AQ's starters back they'll be too much for BK IFFFFF they play their best. It seems AQ is notorious this year for expecting opponents to lay down and die as soon as their warmup and cheerleading routine are done.

You just assured a Kearney victory.

I told you that Fairport would beat Athena.

I am telling you that Kearney beats AQ.

Mark it down.

gotta go with aquinas because of size in the middle
crilly just came off an ankle injury and still isnt 100%
something happened to another one the players wrist and is in a shooting slump right now
AQ will be fine and when they get Jonathan Jones back in the lineup they will be even more of a threat to teams

The 2 players hurt are Crilly (ankle) and Piccone (wrist)

and the players ineligible are Jonathan Jones and Dwayne Smith

drew just doesn't want anybody talking about the aquinas recruting violationd and what not. only talking about basketball matchups is allowed.

this become the place where you are not allowed to give out facts about aquinas?
as an unofficial junior moderator i would advise you to tread lightly

Aquinas 49
Bishop Kearney 52 OT

Just ask me.

Just kidding. I didn't mean to sound cocky, but I am 2-0 picking winners in the "big" games. I had Fairport over Athena and Kearney over AQ.

There is only one way for me to go, and it isn't up. That won't stop me from making predictions though.

Interesting. I knew I should have gone.

I guess I can't put AQ winning class A anymore. They just aren't consistant enough winning big games. Every once in a great while (like every 10-15yrs) teams are able to flick the playoff switch and start rolling. However, that is not the norm and it's especially not the norm when you have had most of your starters available for most of the season. It's a different story if you've dealt with injuries to 2-3 starters for the first 3 months of the season, but from what I understand AQ has only been missing 1 and not for that long. Maybe I'm wrong on this? Maybe there are other injuries I'm not aware of?

there is more that you are unaware of..JJ has been out for i think 11 of aquinas's 12 games, Dwayne Smith has been out the past 6 games, tim crilly missed 2 games and is playing with a sprained ankle and nick piccone has a problem with his wrist so thats 4 legit players that are either hurt or out

Thanks! What happened to JJ? Is he supposed to be 100% before sectionals?

Crilly played yesterday, dwayne and jj average about 9 points combined last year. The kid they called up from jv's is the best point guard that school has.JJ's grades are the issue so it's not a done deal him coming back this season.

thats where your wrong...john powers is a better POINT GUARD in running plays..jalen dennis (the soph) is just more agressive, JJ on the other hand is going to be back for sure, he has his grades up and is doing much better in school ***(i know this because i go to school with him)*** and dwayne is also a PG who can control the ball, andlike i said...crilly is STILL INJURED just playing on bruised and swollen ankle

sectionVhoops30
01-10-2008, 04:21 PM
or coach in section five would say Jalan Dennis is the best point guard there. So when dwyane comes back you will have him and powers.Does that mean jalan will go back to jv?Throw, that in with he started the first 5 football games and lost his spot to wingate. That's not what aquinas want to do to there best 10th grader in sports.

i honestly dont know what they are going to do with that situation, but did you go to the game at kearney? there were some extremely bad moments when the ball was thrown out of bounds by the pg and i was told by some players today that some of the plays werent even being ran by the point guard..i know you say jalen is the best PG in the school but when aquinas was down 8, john powers came in and AQ went up 4, then he got taken out, and it went downhill, just throwing it out there

This argument is one that can go both ways.Ill agree on that.Im just saying they could have a problem because the way the whole football thing was handled with jalan and if they were to put him back on jv's for basketball that would be two sports he got a starting sport or lots of playing time and lost it in the same season.I was not at this game but,im basing what I seen from the mcquaid game and heard from other people.

okay thats a fair point and i get what your saying about him being cut on playing time from both sports possibly but in my opinion you gotta do what makes the team better and AQ has been losing it for themselves lately with costly turn overs at the end of games. i know people will look at the 7-5 record and probably say "oh aquinas is bad this year or they suck" or something to that degree but not a lot of people realize the team is injured or has academic problems and my last point is, their worst loss of the season was by 6 points i believe so thats 5 losses by about 18 points

I heard one of aq's jv players from last season ,went to bishop kearney. Is he doing good over there?

Brandon Dell left aquinas and is not doing very well at BK, against AQ's JV he had i think 4 points on about 1 for 17 shooting

just sayin, this was a BK/AQ thread not pittsford but somehow it always seems to turn into a giant class A/AA/AAA team chat
