haha true...Mark Driesel from Kendall is making a name for himself. He's being looked at by some big D-1 colleges.

i know alexander has a few good sophomores and juniors coming up. Zach Burke and luke c are sophomores that should see some playing time, as well as jordan leitten and andy bittner.

That's interesting. Mark's a decent pitcher but must have made huge strides from last year to be getting D1 looks. Can you tell us which schools?

Bittner played varsity for Alexander last year as a sophmore. Did a decent job at third and second, struggled at the plate a bit even though he has a great swing. Had a good summer hitting the ball and will likely hold down the hot corner this spring.

Burke, Czechowski and Little Leitten are solid hitters that will all see significant playing time on the varsity. Burke and Czechowski will get some time on the mound (both lefties) and Czechowski will probably be backing up Ben Antonucci behind the plate.

Well i know that he went to a lot of big camps over the summer, where d 1 recruiters were in attendence. He also plays for the East Coast Grays, which i dont know a lot of details about but i think it is in a superior league. He told me a few schools that wanted to look at him more but i cant remember, i will check with him and get back to you.

OK thanks. There are 2 versions of the East Coast Grays. One that played in the Northcoast Baseball League out of Rochester. They have not been very good. My team in that league, the Genesee Valley Velocity, has had the better of them. The other is one that did a little more regional travel baseball. More of a "who can you pick up to go to the next tournament" approach. Shayne Herold and Jim Sheflin from LeRoy were 2 players that played for me and traveled a couple of times with those Grays.

Drew Seager from Bath

Drew is a big boy for a sophomore at 6' 2" AND 210 pounds. He was on the radar gun last year for us in Legion, as a 15 year old, at 81 mph. That was a max... he threw routinely in the upper 70's. He also has a nice breaking ball. Drew struggled a bit in Jv's with control. I think he felt like he needed to strike out every batter every time they came to the plate. When he throws strikes he has electric stuff. He lost to Oneonta this past summer on a five hitter, 3-2, while striking out 8 and only walking 2. He pitched well in Buffalo also against a Canadian All Star team. he won 2 games for us in American legion ball against stellar competition. Personally, I think he would be a solid # 2 or # 3 starter behind junior Michael Rossi and junior Montana Yastremski. The young man can also hit with power and slammed a monster three run home run against Victor in the district Legion play offs this summer. His talents should only add to a powerful & young ( two seniors ) Bath team again this spring.

East Coast Grays, wasn't he "discovered" for that at the Pavilion baseball clinic? The ECG's head coach (Chris Snusz - former pro catcher) is the instructor and found him there.

Yea, he got some innings vs. Pavilion when they beat Kendall at Dwyer during Sectionals. I remember him batting and he took over for the starting pitcher - it was in the daily, the photo of Kevin Green sliding into home, the pitcher covering was Driesel - this pic I think.

Nick dedman from batavia is a very good sophomore and he plays for team new era in buffalo. He is going to be starting at shortstop this year for batavia and he started at batavia last season at second with only 1 error and a .365 avg look for him to do it big.

As long as he keeps himself in control and stays healthy.. he has a promising 4 seasons ahead of him.. he is only a freshman.

Lucas Czechowski - Alexander, sophmore. Look for him to get innings as the #2 or #3 behind Leitten and Lovria. Getting bigger and is hitting the ball hard in pre-season workouts.

only problem that he has is that if he's not doing well at all...it only gets worse. he gets in his own head too much

Watch out for two Juniors at Rush Henrietta this year Aaron Barley and Brandon Phillip. Last year Aaron batted over .500 on varsity as a sophomore and made the AGR team but not that many people know about him. Brandon hurt his shoulder last year just before the season snowboarding so he started off the season on jv. He was called up about half way through the season and became one of our top hitters with four or five homers and batting in the high three hundreds.

mark driesel was on a list of 300 players nationwide that was sent out to every DI conference. he struggled over the summer a little with his command, but he did very well last fall vs the Florida Pokers and East Cobb at Perfect Games World Wood Bat Underclass Championships in Ft Myers. we changed his mechanics a little and dropped his arm angle. he is currently attending the East Coast Grays winter workout program in Rochester and will most certainly get some national exposure this summer and fall.

every one of those kids comes from school with money. why not dig deeper in your scouting and find the kids who can't afford all those camps with just as much talent.

catchaprospect
02-09-2008, 05:54 PM
in that case i believe that their is a SS at albion named Ward. i saw him when he was a freshman and from what i remember on him, he was a very solid looking prospect. i wish i could see all of the kids, so i could be aware of kids that could play (both in rochester and buffalo).... its tough to see everyone.... if you know of any then by all means let me know who they are

fisher22

driesel is from kendall. u said he was from pavilion. i played against that kid last year and hes not that good in my eyes. but hell, i guess playing against someone gives u a better perspective than watching.

grbball200
02-10-2008, 09:30 PM
driesel has really good stuff and can throw some decent heat. his only problem is that he will let things get into his head too much and try to hard to be perfect every game. i think he is better that you are giving him credit fisher

Mustangs24
02-11-2008, 05:46 PM
I've seen Mark over the last few years and he has a lot of potential and many attributes scouts look for. Watching and knowing what to look for is a lot better than playing against guys. Last year watching the loss to Pavilion in Sectionals he stood out more than anyone on that team, though as everyone knows Hackett took the show overall in that game.

catchaprospect
02-12-2008, 02:11 PM
mark picked around the corners early last year... we dropped his arm angle to a mid 3/4 delivery and having him throw more across the body... now he throws the ball down the middle and lets it move, instead of trying to hit corners

sucka.
03-02-2008, 10:13 PM
gavin black, jake coleman, and corey mcevoy from hilton all juniors played varsity as sophomores and started they all pitch and have solid bats

I know that for a small school hornell as some real good athletes coming up. I heard that a few freshman are trying out and a few sophmores as well for the varsity team. There are also good players in the JV baseball program. From what I hear DJ Schwartz's little brother is on the JV team and throws hard and has a nice bat (freshman) and there is an 8th grader on the team who throws hard and has some potential with his big bat.

The 8th grader from Hornell that you are talking about is Dominic Scavo. He is as good a player as I have ever seen at his age. Hornell has a couple Freshmen who should do well also...Dylan Dunn, Pat McCormick, and Tom Rose.

I think Cito Culver is the best up and coming young player in sectionv. pending good offensive stats, he is 100% eligable to contend for player of the year or at least AGR, considering 1st team all county last yr. plus, he will be the best on Ironqequoit for the 2nd year in a row AND he will definitely be the best in 2009 and 2010.
