both teams were expected to be towards the top of the league this year
No offense buddy as I know your a player on Hammondsports team but honestly nobody outside of Hammondsport had them near the top of the league prior to the season. I expected them to be near the middle of the pack but new they couldn't compete with the likes of J-T, Prattsburgh, C-S, Addison & C-G. Hammondsport is still recovering from losing 11 seniors a couple of years back and it'll take them time to get back to the top of the league. Keep working hard though you never know
As for tonights game I expect C-S to come out angry as they've lost two in a row for the first time in a very long time. I think they may have opened the 2001 or 2002 season losing the first two games in the officials tip-off tourney to S.O.T.A & Wellsville and that's probably the last time they lost back-to-back. I'd look for C-S big probably 20 or 30 points I could be wrong.
Good luck Defense54 and please give us a game review of your own after the game win or lose, who knows I could be way off and you may give them a game if I'm wrong don't be afraid to tell me about it!

Your right maybe hport was not considered towards the top of the league thats my mistake i shouldnt have said that but there is no way that they were considered a push over like last year...and yes cs is going to be angry but i expect hpor to be the same way as they have not quite put 4 good quarters of basketball together and there record could be totally different as they lost a couple games that could have completely made a difference in their ranking inthe counties or sectionals but its a rivalry game and its always a big game yes they got blown out by 50 or so last year but i look back when bill whitney was coaching my first year on jv...we set the goals to hold them to under 60 and score thirty...that same team that they have now we only lost to by 13 i think any team can beat anyone on any day and that with the exception of a few teams i think you cant take anyone lightly in the league this year....no offense but if you go back and look at their halftime scores with all those teams you said they couldnt run with theywere right in the game they come out of the half flat they have yet to put four good basketball quarters together they usually ahve like 13-15 second half turnovers and thats what sets them apart from the good teams if you look at talent to talent they match up well with almost all teams in steuben county they just need to put it together but your right the way they are playing now they are only a mid level team in the county and sectionals...but if they put it together and can keep it that way...they are a team to watch out for...but if hport doesnt put it together tonight and they fall into their same bad habits i look for a close halftime score with maybe cbell up by like 5-10 points maybe tied who knows...its all about how hport comes out of the locker room at halftime...if they come out and take care of the ball i look for a rather close game to the end...if they come out and turn the ball over cbell will prolly win big....the ball is in hports hands...they know cbell is coming to play its a matter of whether they bring their game....

I love your positive attitude and the fact that you have goals going into the game, that doesn't happen very often. I wish you the best of luck tonight and like I said, please post after the game with Details!

A good goal would be for you guys to keep it within 20. I'm not trying to get you down. In fact, i am a Hammondsport fan. Baby steps first. You can't go from what you were last year to all the sudden contending for a league title. You are on the right track.
Good luck.

How can Campbell-Savona vs. Hammondsport be a rivalry? Doesn't one team have to beat the other in the last decade for it to be a rivalry?

Last time C-S lost two in a row was SOTA and Wellsville in 2002-2003 during the tip-off tourney. My sophomore year.

Thanks for confirming I knew I was right but couldn't remember the exact years, I remember it well because all 4 teams were loaded. West had Jon Onyriuka, & S.O.T.A had Solomon Donaldson & the big 6'7" Olowasi Oseni C-S had Isaiah Smalt, Jon Vanskiver, Collin Wright & A young Matt Newman. Wellsville was loaded with Jason Szabo, Mike Tripodi, Rick Whitwood & Dave Gardner. I remember the Onyriuka/Oseni Battles very well it was a great tourney that year and If I'm not mistaken C-S didn't lose again until the Sectional Finals, but I may be wrong it seems like they may have played Kearney that year and lost a close one to Jamar Gray and Co.

We had 2 more losses that year, Corning West in the finals of the Shaddock tournament at CCC where they came bak on us late after an "extra" free throw Onyiruka and two handed, put-back dunk by him literally on DeWolf's head, and Canisteo-Greenwood at our place when they went unconscious from outside with Beers and Ricky. It was my sophomore year, not my junior year though, so no Newman that season. It was the year VanSkiver had a stress fracture in his foot and missed the finals completely and we lost to Marion.
Actually, the next year we lost 2 of our first four, dropping the finals of the tip-off to West and then going to Kearney and running into AJ White and Jamar Gray. Will never forget throwing a lazy skip pass against their 1-3-1 on our second possession and then watching White pick it and go tomahawk one on the other end. Worst chewing out of my career in the time out that followed.

hammondsport and CS was a great game to watch hammondsport came out firing and went into halftime with a three point lead came out into the second half played a strong third quarted and going into the fourth CS had a slight edge CS pulled it out and won by 11. Great game both ways, i think h-port kinda showed some people in this game that there serious and they play hard they just cant put all four quarters together yet and that deff. shows with scores at halftime tied with CG, up by 3 to CS, up on clyde savanah, up on CG finney and then lost i believe they will put it together before the end of the season and put a good fight for teams in both counties and sectionals.

I agree as ive said before look at their half time scores there in all their games at half its them coming out in the 3rd quarter flat and turning the ball over...hammondsport only did that for about a two minute stretch in the game last night...cbell went on a 9-0 run and hammdonsport could not just make it up...i think hammdonsport proved to people last night not to take them lightly...they showed that with a good effort they can play with some of the better teams and i hope people on here do not take them as lightly as they have before...

They kept it within 20 so they exceeded my expectations. I want more though. You guys are individually skilled players. Some of you make dumb mistakes while others play scared.
Good job in the game last night though.

Your right and thats been the problem is not putting it all together...most of the game was an extremely close game i dont know if you were there or not but the score was within 5 or so with hammondsport leading a couple times throughout the game it was that killer to minute stretch where we made stupid mistakes and played like we have in the killings this year...the interesting thing about the game was coach lowin was not there last night coach wilson filled in as lowin was out due to family problems...coach wilson is an extremely smart man who was an assistant coach at La Salle university for a few years...the man knows the game and is a great asset to this teams future...I think once hport continues to play tough and lose those moments where they have a mental lapse they are going to be involved in some good games
