who do you think would win their respected classes if sectionals started tomorrow?

AAA - Fairport: Always a solid program.
AA - East: I never pick against them
A - Batavia: I'm a homer ... but Newark looks pretty solid.
BB - Charlotte - Very athletic and probably has more talent than every other team in the class.
B - Pembroke: My upset pick. Babcock and Wright are steady and if Maurer gets hot shooting ...
CC - Cal-Mum: Nothing against Oakfield or Avon, but the old saying it's hard to beat a team three times in a season could hold true here.
C - Dundee: No idea really.
DD - Notre Dame: Solid group. Francis and Bochicchio get the headlines, but Pawlak is as good as any player in the league at what he does.
D - Prattsburgh: I watched them beat ND and it might not be the most talented Prattsburgh team ever, they play well together.

///just picks. if you saw my nfl picks this year you know i'll probably be wrong on most :)

I'm surprised ER has only been chosen to win by one person. CC is a tough classification and there are possibilities for upsets, but I think ER is the team to beat in CC (just my opinion).

AAA - R-H
AA - East or Athena... I hope this is the finals matchup
A - Newark/Batavia/Sutherland/Geneva
BB - Charlotte/Hornell... No one is talking about Hornell
B - Kearney
CC - ER
C - HAC/Dundee... Just like Hilly, I have no clue
DD - ND/JT should be finals matchup
D - Prattsburgh

AAA - Rush-Henrietta-Dane Miller & Co. should be where they want to be when Sectionals Start

AA - East-High-Loaded with Talent, Ruben Balkum, Bobby Bell, Jerold "Mr." Brooks, Jazz Huffman & Norman Simmons make for an impressive starting five.

A - Newark-Led by Soph. AGR Player of the Year Candidate Javon McCrea & Jr. Tyshun Stephens Newark is on Cruise Control a couple of tight games might be good before Sectionals start and Geneva & Canandaigua are on the schedule.

BB - Charlotte-Loaded but got a wake up call vs. East, that's only going to help them get better. Very talented group I'll be very surprised if I don't see them in Glens Falls, Olean from VI won't be a pushover but Could be a "Road Block" on their trip.

B - Bishop Kearney-Might be the first time in 3 years they win the title with a .500 or better record. Played a brutal Schedule yet have come out on top most of the time. Will Likely see Wellsville again in the finals and will likely prevail, again!!

CC - Avon-Not getting much hype but undefeated an rolling, very good balance with all five starters contributing, young team that doesn't start a senior, will be tested in the LCAA Tournament.

C - Dundee-Solid team their success in Football has carried over and they're playing well, second match up with Harley-Allendale-Columbia will decide the League Title and pretty much help determine the Sectional Favorite, I give the Edge to Dundee and think they can bring home the title.

DD - Batavia N-D-As a Steuben County Guy I'd love to See J-T win it, but with the recent injury to Ryan Hadley although he'll be back for Sectionals I feel that J-T will have lost their momentum and now I have to give the Edge back to notre-Dame and the Francis & Bo. Show.

D - Prattsburgh-Finally Clicking on all cylinders with the Tough County Tournament yet to come, Very balanced and deep squad with a solid Floor General and two sturdy big men.

State Qualifiers:

AA-East
A- Newark
B-Charlotte
C-Avon
D-Prattsburgh

The thing that deters me a little from picking E-R is their Schedule and Although they went to Florida and that was a very good trip for them, the fact that their league is down this year is going to hurt them. The fact that their only tests came in the 3 games in Florida may come back to haunt them in the Sectional Semi-Finals or finals. Also with a higher seed if they run into a Campbell-Savona or Canisteo-Greenwood early on a team of that caliber they could be going home early. most seasons playing against teams like Sodus, Lyons & Gananda have been tough but with those teams rebuilding playing them has hurt E-R..............

UNC - What do you think about Hornell?

I wish they were in B!

Very good team, discplined, play good defense, very unselfish on offense. Balanced. They're very good. I just don't know if they can beat Charlotte, their game with Aquinas in a couple of weeks will give us an idea of how good Hornell is. Because really besides Olean they haven't played top notch competition.

good mix of talent with Seniors Ryne Hunt, Steve Smith, D.J Schwartz & Jordan Blades with Junior Guard Kyle Murphy.

i think if they were in B they'd have a good chance of beating Kearney but I'm not sure on Charlotte.

I can see your point about Wayne County being down this year but I have not been overly impressed with Livingston, Steuben and other CC teams this year either. To me last years Campbell, Gananda, Letchworth and Marion teams would all be heavy favorites in CC. Avon and ER are both very good teams but top to bottom, the quality of the CC's this year is down.

I'm hoping to check out their game against Monroe next week. I want to see how they handle the helter-skelter full court game.

1 Avon LV 2 CC 14-0
2 East Rochester W CC 12-1
3 Caledonia-Mumford LV 2 CC 12-2
4 Oakfield-Alabama GR2 CC 11-2
5 Canisteo-Greenwood ST CC 11-2
6 Letchworth LV 2 CC 8-3
7 Red Creek W CC 8-4
8 Gananda W CC 9-5
9 Perry LV 2 CC 9-5
10 Marion W CC 8-6
11 Campbell-Savona ST CC 9-7
12 Addison ST CC 7-7
13 Alexander GR 1 CC 6-7
14 Honeoye FL W CC 6-6
15 Kendall GR 1 CC 5-8
16 Lyons W CC 3-10

This is what the Sectional Points looks like right now, Now Campbell-Savona @ 9-7 might not impress you but if you look a little closer at their Schedule you'd see one loss was to Class A Newark 15-0, One was to Class BB Livonia (6-7) & one to Class A Corning-West Section IV. C-S picked those losses up in Non-League games. They also lost to 3 pretty good league teams in Canisteo-Greenwood 11-2, Prattsburgh 13-1 & J-T 12-2. As far as C-G goes they've lost two games and one of them was to Class B Attica non-league. The LCAA teams you have Avon 14-0 & Cal-Mum 12-2 with both L's coming to Avon. I have to ask superheroaj what's not to be impressed with? Why didn't E-R go out and get tougher games besides the Disney trip? Is it policy in Wayne County that everyone plays eachother twice? I know in Steuben you just play once in League.

My Point:Some of these teams went out and found tough games and they accounted for losses, had E-R gone out and picked up more tough games they too might have some more L's.

It looks like everybody plays each other twice in Wayne County, 9 teams.. 16 league games so there is not much flexibility. ER had to commit to 3 games in Florida and it's very hard in this section to find one game to play as most are home & home series or two day tournaments. This could hurt them but baed on what I've seen, I still like them to win CC.

I understand Campbell's schedule and know they are much better than their 9-7 record may indicate. My point is not based on records, is completely subjective and based on my limited experience of SEEING the teams play: No team in this years Class CC would stand up to last years C-S, Gananda, Letchworth or Marion teams... not even Avon or ER. That's why I think CC is down.

AAA- R-H over Fairport (could go either way really)
AA-East over Athena
A-Newark over Geneva
BB-Charlotte over Hornell (easiest pick)
B-Bishop Kearney over Wellville again, and again.
CC-E-R over Avon (not too sure on this one)
C-HAC over Dundee
DD-J-T over BND (could go either way)
D-Prattsburgh over Northstar (Easy to pick Prattsburgh, not so easy to pick who they end up beating)
Crossovers:
AA-East over R-H
A-Newark
B-Charlotte over Kearney
C-E-R over HAC
D-Prattsburgh over J-T
I may be wrong with many of these but I'm excited to watch them play out!!!!

Personally i think CC is one of the deepest and strongest classes in all of section v from top to bottom. Although Letchworth's team last year was good with only one loss, i don't think they would be able to be considered heavy favorites at all. In fact i don't even know if they could beat Avon for their own division this year. It should be interesting come sectional time with no team as a clear cut favorite.

I don't think Aquinas has been playing good enough to beat Newark.

I saw Newark play this year. If Acquinas beats them I'd be really impressed. Newark has a really nice team.
