Was wondering what shoes everbody thought were the best for basketball. Im looking for new ones for next season and over the post season. Personally im looking at a pair of new reeboks, the breezy mid, question 3 or the ones coming out in june. from anyone's past experience with any shoe, do you have any suggestions as far as durability, performance, comfort, etc?

Style, I always liked Jordans.
But I always tell players to just get light weighted shoes, preferably under 13 or 14 ounces.

not two dudes' nutsack store, that for sure. I usually go to sports-related stores like Sports Authority, Dick's Sporting Goods, Foot Locker, etc.
but enough with you becaue you obviously have no desire to discuss the topic of shoes, back to the topic.
And a side question: I have the adidas pro model (last year's i think, the team got em for team shoes) and the grip has gone to hell, they collect so much dust in the tread and the tread itself is wearing like crazy, any suggestions on how to make them last until i can get my new kicks, how to get them somewhat grip again??

I'd go for the retro look, like that idea.
That gives me an idea. I'm going to hit up ebay and try to find some classic Jordans.

...but too many people are too interested in how they look, as opposed to how they work. Ask any podiatrist, and they will tell you that in general NIKE is the worst shoe company when in comes to arch support, stability etc. I have had numerous ankle and knee issues/surgeries, and almost universally, every doctor told me to stop wearing Nike. I have and it has made a difference (I prefer Adidas for b-ball, or Asics for running) Unfortunately, NIKE outmarkets every other company, and creates great looking sneakers that are anatomically poor. I know many small college coaches won't put their team in Nikes because of injury issues and durability, and since small colleges don't usually get shoe contracts they would just as soon pay for better shoes. D1 schools wear Nikes, but only because Coaches can pad their salaries.
As for Starbury's the initial reports were that they were good, supportive, durable shoes. However, too many people dismiss the thought of buying them because of where they are sold, and because they lack status symbol appeal (like Jordans have). In fact I bet if you placed Starbury's in a Dicks and put a $120 price tag on them, a lot more people would be willing to buy them.

I have been wearing nike's for most of my basketball career and I havent had any problems. This year our team tried team adidas shoes and I had feet problems the whole year. I think that some shoes work for some people and different shoes work for others. Its all about the feel of the shoe and whatever works best.

RC4Lyfe-I am not trying to preach, and I am not trying to argue. For some people Nikes are OK, and I wore them for ten years before developing issues as a collegiate player. I will say this though, many people have foot pain when switching from Nikes to other brands due to the fact that Nike has poor arch support, and when they put on sneakers with better support, it causes discomfort. I experienced some initial pain as I switched to other brands. But, choose sneakers by feel and not by look. I will never let my son wear Nikes, I have heard too many speeches from too many Drs. I also have a friend who does team sales for basketball sneakers and he has loads of research showing the inferiority of Nike as compared to other brands, but no one is interested because they would rather have the "swoosh." According to him New Balance are by far the best basketball sneakers, in terms of health, but no one gets excited about wearing plain white New Balance sneakers. Either way-good luck to you!

Go with the LeBrons they are heavy, but if you can get over that you'll be fine they have good ankle support. Nikes personally are my favorites, reeboks tend to rip out and dont last all to long. The lighter the sneaker, the sooner they will fall apart just from my experience. Nikes would probably be your best bet, but you know how coach Hout is and he'll probably love his 3 stripes.

Addidas Pro Form's are the best for my money. Great arch support, better than adequate ankle support and great traction.
I play 5 times a week and these are by far the best performing sneaker I have ever worn.
I tried Nike, Reebok, Converse, you name it. The only one that comes close to the Addidas are the Reeboks.

i hope not, those shoes killed my foot. i have problems with my big to on my pivot foot(right) and the first nuckle, idk. plus the grip died about 1/3 of the way through the season and we had to use tooth brushes with soap and water to get them through the first half

have any of you had any experience with the adidas crazy 8's? I think they look good and have gotten some good reviews online but can only tell the truth by trying them on at the store.
http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41GMPKKM8ML._AA280_.jpg
16.6 oz is kinda heavy, and some reviewers said that they were kinda wide but other than that they were very good shoe for playing in.

weight does not matter that much the LeBrons that i wore this past season in practice were 20.4 oz and i still played the same in the adidas that were like 5 oz lighter. that amount of weight is not going to matter. 16.6 is an average weight for a decent pair of shoes. If i were you i would give those shoes a try they look like they have good support and look comforitable. give em a try and let us know how they are.

ill see if they are at the nearest footlocker, cuz thats where i found the most information... for 50 dollars, if they are the least of how the reviews show them, they shoudl be a very good buy.

I'm gonna have to agree with RC4lyfe and go with the hightop Chuck Taylor's. Before skateboarders took over the market, Chuck Taylor's were THE shoes for real basketball players.
