I think it all depends on which team shows up. They can play poor defense sometimes, with giving up lots of errors. But they can also play good defense (this is ususally true with most teams, so it isn't a mind blowing statement, but they have given up a ton of errors in a couple games.) They also have hit pretty good against decent pitching, but they also haven't faced Leitten from alexander. Their pitching is pretty good too. But if they play a home game, against a power hitting team in sectionals, they may give up an easy homerun or two because of the short porch. The seed that they recieve may also be a gift too because the kind of competition they play usually isn't as difficult as the other teams in their class. Last year, they got knocked off by a last seed. The other teams in their class are very good, but I don't see any overpowering, untouchable teams. Basically, if they play their best ball, they have the capabilities of coming home with a sectional title, but the littlest mistake could end it all very quickly.

I believe that Livonia may have to be the " favorite " at this point of the season. They are moving down from class A ( last year ) to compete in BB this season. However, there are a few teams that have an equal opportunity to grab the Class BB Sectional Title.
Penn Yan has a solid club and has been hitting the ball very effectively in the last two weeks. They have a couple of solid pitchers who can keep them in most games. They definitely will challenge for the title !
Bath is very young ( starting 4 sophomores & four juniors ) but has played a very difficult schedule to achieve an 11-6 record. ( Corning East & West, Wellsvile, HFL, Hornell and Campbell< which was 10-0 at the time> ) Their sophomore ace, Rossi, is 4-1 with a 1.3 ERA and they have an assortment of other pitchers who can be very effective.
Livonia has Northrup who is a tough lefty. They beat Bath 4-3 in 8 innings earlier in the year and have a senior-laden team who has been there before in many sports. Will they have enough as their # 2 starter to move through sectionals or can their hitting carry them ?
Attica is young and has a solid pitcher in Kosek. They don't compete against some of the premier teams around and that may hurt them ? They have the talent to challenge anyone, however.
Hornell cannot be underestimated. Schwartz is getting better and throwing more strikes recently. He is as tough as anyone when he is " on." They will be a difficult out for any team that draws them in sectionals.
I would not count out Midlakes either. They could pull an upset ( or two ) if any team takes them for granted.
Pitching and defense wins games. A little luck never hurt either....

I'm going with Bath to win sectionals, they've got a real young team but I think they can put the 4 or 5 wins in a row together to win the BB sectionals. They put a tough schedule together this season to help them prepare and that should pay off in the end.

The final seeding for sectionals should prove to be very important for the teams vying for the Championship. Bath looks like a # 4 seed behind Livonia, Attica, & Penn Yan. If this occurs, there will be some tough choices to make along the way. Does Bath throw their ace against the # 5 seed ( maybe Way-Co ) and then tackle Livonia in the semi finals if they win ?? Or do you try and sneak a victory out with your 2nd and/or 3rd starter and save your # 1 against Livonia. That would, for all purposes however, remove the # 1 starter from consideration in the finals if you did get by Livonia. Who says seeding isn't important. It will be interesting to track this on Sunday's Joel Oriend show where all the seedings will be posted Live. WVIN 98.3
Interesting side note: Bath won last night 6-5, moving their season's record to 11-7. Last year, Bath went into sectionals with a 12-7 record and won it all. Bath graduated 8 seniors from last year's team and Coach Buckley should be commended for taking 4 sophomore and four junior starters and approaching the same number of victories this season with such a young team. Defense is the key to their ultimate success if they are to challenge for the title.
