After 71 consecutive losses, Mount Morris Baseball beats Geneseo

In what could have been the biggest upset in Livingston Conference D-III baseball history, Mount Morris a team that had gone 71 straight games without a victory, defeated the host team Geneseo 11-10 in D-III action last week.

It was Mount Morris' first victory since 2003.

Has anyone heard of any other schools in Section V who have similiar winless streaks going? Not just baseball but other sports Boys & Girls, if so please post here.

It doesn't approach 70+ losses, but from the information I can gather, Bath's varsity Lacrosse team has dropped their last 37 regular season contests in a row.( 2005-2007 ) I am not sure, however, if there was a sectional win in the mix. Somehow I would be surprised ?

I think that their last victory was an 11-10 victory over Newark on May 6th, 2005. They need a win bad !!!!!! Especially for morale ...

I don't know the numbers but Bradford has to have one sport that would at least come close to that.

Speaking of these tiny schools, what sports programs (not teams of one) do they have?

Most of these schools have 1 sport per season, usually soccer, basketball, baseball/softball. Sometimes individuals will participate in Cross Country or Track&Field on their own.

I can't imagine a school having such small numbers. You'd think they would combine with a nearby school like Gananada and East Rochester did for football.

The public schools get lots of state money and like Whitesville get beautiful facilities built. The schools are mostly based in communities where their autonomy is more important than their success in sports.

The private schools are mostly Religious schools that are there to offer an alternative for parents.

Harley-Allendale-Columbia is actually a combination sports team for two schools The Harley School and The Allendale-Columbia school.

That's what Class D is. Very very small. That's why people have a hard time placing any Class D player on a "All Section V" or "AGR" team.

I wasn't in any way dissing Bradford. In fact, I commend them. They have a lot of unsuccessful teams but there is always a slew of kids out there fighting there hearts out.

You have to start focusing on the youth programs, that's the key. The reason that Campbell-Savona is so good at Boys basketball is their 5th & 6th grade and Modified programs. So if I was working with the Mt.Morris sports program I'd put some attention to the Modified Baseball teams and try to develop a strong youth program that can carry over to he J.V & Varsity level.

A perfect example is the Bradford Varsity Boys Basketball team they've gone 0-40 the last two seasons and they only won 1 the year before that so that's like 1-59 in the last three seasons, however they had a successful J.V boys team that even upset Campbell-Savona, so that's a good sign of things to come the next couple of years, I'm not saying they'll win the county tournament but should definately be more competitive and it could spark some interest in the youth and maybe they'll turn things around.

The same goes for Bath Lax, i know they've got a good youth program going, and are attending camps and really trying to develop a strong program their, it's not there yet but it's coming............

It's tough to keep up on records with Softball & Baseball, you have to rely on coaches to call in the scores and records and that's just not happening. I don't think there's one avaliable! Sorry

But here it is twight@brcs.wnyric.org Tom Wight is from Bolivar-Richburg and handles both the Girls and Boys sites. I'll tell you, the reason the site is behind is from the lack of info coming from coaches, But Tom is very nice and I'm sure will listen to your suggestions.
