I haven't seen you guys play but know you had a couple of tough losses to Lyons, who has had a great year. OA has gotten better as the year has gone on and will go as far as the arm of AJ Kehlenbach takes them.

I picked Marion....jk. no i think this year is a very good sectionals. very competitive. OA is obviously the team to beat but honeoye is good Kearny is better than their record shows and ER has good team too.

Honeoye beat them like 14-0 earlier this year.

I think the C teams are wide open, CC is a 2 team race, CCC O-A is the team to beat if for no other reason than they get Cal-Mum and know them all too well. I don't think their pitching will be too stressed going into the finals.
Of course an even bigger problem for Section V is this 3 level in the C ranks crap. We get smoked against each other then face a rested Sec 6.
I'd rather see 2 C's, then at least have a chance of going futher against the rest of the state.

the 3 c's classifications is merely based upon the number of class c baseball teams in section 5. there are 3 classifications only to give the teams in section 5 a chance to win sectionals

I think the classes are split up the way they are to keep the numbers in the brackets manageable - not to give teams a chance to win sectionals. A 32 team bracket would be hard to get in before the end of the school year.

It's the "everybody is in" policy that makes it difficult. Put all the teams in one classification and keep the top 12 seeded for Sectionals. Would make the regular season a little more meaningful.

as the title says, I'd settle for 2 levels again. I heard they switched back to 3 because schools were complaining the C's only had a champ for every 18 teams as opposed to other levels getting one for every 12 or so. it looks like next year C is going to loose 5 teams due to school sizes and gain one back from B.
I guess I"m split on the everyone in thing. The extra teams extend the timeline on the other hand letting low ranked teams have a run at each other is good for them too. Because if you don't then the first round is a #1 playing a #16 and that does neither team much good.

I know for basketball... Class C is split into 3 classifications, CCC,CC,C if the number of C teams exceeds 32 teams, and is only 2 classes, CC,C, if it is under 32. Does anybody know the number for baseball

OA beat BK 3-2

Cal-mum advanced

ER beat C-G 14-2

Honeoye beat Avon 8-4

Now quarterfinals are done, who is the favorite for everyone?

Saw them play this year. If Way pitches as well as he has been, they are going to be very difficult to beat. However, they have a couple of losses that just makes you scratch your head. Losing to HAC is just about unexplainable for them.

Looks like BK gave OA a bit of a scare tonight, taking an early lead and only giving up 3 runs. What happened to OA? Everyone was predicting a blowout.
OA just came out and played flat. It looked like there wasn't all that much emotion from the OA side. the entire game it just seemed like oakfield knew they were going to win though

does anyone know why the ER/honeoye game was switched from a 7:00 game at livonia to a 4:30 game at Dwyer Stadium Batavia? Was it to make it more neutral?

I guess I wonder why they are making those two teams drive out to Batava?

O-A vs Cal-Mum is a monster rivarly and I'd expect a big crowd for that game as it is almost a home field for them. Those two schools would compete tooth and nail in tiddly winks if you game them a chance. It has to be one of the biggest rivalies in Section V.

T'emUP

no doubt a good rivalry but i think that o-a comes out with the win. cal-mum's pitching is not as good as o-a's and what o-a has been seeing. oakfield is a good hitting team who makes alot of contact and doesn't stikeout much. cal-mum hits well too so they will have to hit well to win in my opinion.

Since Cal-mum hasn't played in a sectional game yet cause they automatically won quarters? will the layoff help them or hurt them against OA who just played a tough BK game?

Yeah, that's true it could hurt them a little bit, but they carry a lot of momentum coming into sectionals winning their last 4 or 5 games in a row.

I think it will hurt the bats but it does give them an edge with rested pitching especially IF they can get to the next round.

Nice job by the #3 and #4 seeds tonight taking out the #1 and #2 teams! I would have liked to see ER vs. OA in the finals, but you've gotta respect a good upset. Good luck Thursday.

This will be a close game... but i think Honeoye will come out on top by three... maybe 8-5. Honeoye has got good bats, and cm's bats tend to be an off and on thing. If cm can hit like they did against oa, they might be able to pull it out.

Is going to be led by Marcus Way. He pitches very well, and is a solid hitter. Sean McGwire is a strong left handed hitter for them. This is a very good club. I haven't seen Cal Mum, but I can promise you they have their hands full with Honeoye.

This could be a very interesting game...................cm has some solid players for them and they are good in the field but i think honeyeo will come out on top because of their bats. If CM wants to win intentially walk Way(expected to get boo'd by their fans if you do) and play the best game in the field and hopefully get hits......if McGuire's pitching it could be close.

McGwire won't be pitching. Way I'm positive will be throwing this game for Honeoye.
