Who do you guys have winning the first round matchups, and winning the whole thing?

I think all the top seeds will win 1st round, but watch out for Eastridge. I know they are playing Victor but they have played a lot of teams tough this year and I wouldn't be surprised by an upset.

I'd watch out for H-F-L I guarantee they're 10x better than #1 Seed S.O.T.A If H-F-L can get by a tough Pitt-Sutherland in Round #2 I'll go with H-F-L to win the whole thing. They're battle Tested playing in that Tough LCAA conference where there were really no weak teams this year.

H-F-L & Jason Beaumont are a tough team @ #7

HFL has a solid club AND they have two strong pitchers which is what you need to get by in sectionals. If they can step up their game and get offensive at the right time, they can be very troublesome to other A schools. Sutherland will be a tough test for them, but I think they have the option of saving their # 1 for them by winning with McIntyre against Newark. He has shown me a nice curve ball and command of the strike zone.

I agree, UNC, the LCAA this year was a very difficult test for every, single, team. Each league game was a battle and I'm hoping that this didn't take too much out of the teams from our conference. I guess what doesn't kill ya, makes you stronger !? ( haha )

I'm rooting for HFL to win. I like their team and I like their attitudes. Best of luck to them....

Is there a favorite to win this class? Is it Sutherland's to lose?

In my opinion yes, if they stumble I'd say H-F-L's the Favorite at the 7 seed

HF-L squeaked out a win in the first round hosting Newark, 9-8. Newark really only tagged the ball well a couple times, but were able to take advantage of several weak infield pokes and some misques, and tallied a 8-0 lead. Amazing how things can happen when you put the ball in play. HF-L bats woke up and they crawled back with some hits midway through the game and took advantage of a couple Newark errors, finally tying the score on a Jason Beaumont sac fly to center with Doug Feck singling in the go ahead run both in the bottom of the 6th. Jason threw for the seventh, striking out a pair of batters. Wasn't the best of efforts, but the boys showed some character battling back to erase the 8 run deficit for the win.

I think we heard the same thing during basketball.

Today....
HF-L squeaked by Newark 9-8
Perry was handled by Gananda 11-5
Mount Morris got smoked by Hammondsport 11-0

It's Sutherland or Victor.

HFL is going to be ready to go Friday after a slow start yesterday. Sutherland won't touch HFL's best arm. Who even pitches for Sutherland this year anyways... no one.. Then it's revenge against Victor.

Sutherland will probably pitch Menard or Halowell and they should be able to give HFL a run for their money, but it may have been a disadvantage to have a bye first round. It seems HFL will have a lot of momentum after that big comeback, and they were able to save Beaumont to pitch, should be a good game. Remember, Victor has to get past Batavia b4 they see Sutherland or HFL. Batavia is on a roll and so is Victor, so that should be a good match. So far no upsets, we'll see what happens Friday!

Beaumont has decent off speed stuff with a curve and change and has mixed in a splitter every once and a while but not too often. His fastball is better than most kids though. He hit 88-89 against Bath I think 6 times and when he really reaches back for one on a hot day can touch 90 I'm sure. When on he is pretty unbelievable. He has struck out 10 guys at least in almost every start he has made including Victor. He didn't even have his best stuff against Victor.

I agree the kid can bring some gas, but I think he was more effective in the the second meeting in Bath. On a chilly day he mixed up his speeds and location really well and Bath didn't get a whole lot of solid contact
