OA defeated Nazareth 3-2 in Oakfield today in a nailbiter. OA struck first in the bottom of the opening frame. Lindsay Chatt walked and scored from first on a Mary Bostwick grounder that took a huge bounce over the head of Naz shortstop Lisa Santos. Bostwick later advanced to third and scored on a Jen Cassidy grounder to Santos, after the throw pulled the first baseman off the bag. There were two outs and the play would have ended the inning had Santos simply made the throw rather than attempting to look Bostwick back to third. Nazareth later picked up a run on an RBI single, and could have tied the game at two with the speedy Santos on third, but after OA catcher Dani Sage ran Santos back to third, Santos took off for home after the ball was given to Bostwick, and Bostwick lobbed the ball to first baseman Brynne Perfitt, who was covering the plate, and beat Santos by a mile. OA later extended their lead to 3-1 on a Dani Sage home run, but Naz came back with a tally in the next inning off a Bostwick wild pitch, scoring the runner from third. OA finished off the game on a popup behind the plate, where Sage made an outstanding catch to seal the win. OA next travels to Victor on Saturday for the semi-finals. Congratulations to OA on a great victory and hats off to Nazareth for playing a tough game. Best of luck to OA throughout the remainder of sectionals.

Very good write up... I, personally, appreciate it. Sounds like it was the place to be yesterday! Clearly, a game worthy of the semis or maybe even the finals. Thanks!

No problem. Nazareth was probably the best low seed in Section V this year
