Should be a good game, Bath beat Livonia tonight while Attica crushed Midlakes. This game will be played tuesday night under the lights in Livonia I have heard. Who do you think will win, and why?

I'm rooting for Attica but Bath I think will win it...sure they won by 9 tonight but they haven't played a team like Bath all year and really don't like how things stack up for them. I hope a huge upset is in the works but just don't see it, depending who pitches for Bath they win 7-4.

Attica can hit and they hit hard throwers very well. I think it's going to be more of an issue of whether they have the pitching to shut down a good hitting team. I'm rooting for them as well.

No disagreement here! I'm a huge Attica fan and would love to see them win but will agree that they are an underdog to the Bath squad. Who is Bath's top pitcher and will he pitch Tuesday in Livonia? I'll be the eternal optimist here. They still have to suit up and play the game so that gives Attica a shot. GO BLUE DEVILS!!

Bath's ace is Mike Rossi, tough to beat.... I'm pretty sure Attica has not faced a lineup as strong 1-9 as Baths either, they absolutely take it to opposing pitchers. GO RAMS!

Attica has absolutely no chance to win this game.
Bath is much tougher, top to bottom, and is battle tested.
No offense to Attica, they just aren't nearly as good.

I don't know for sure, but:
Penn Yan Lacrosse plays at Geneva at 4:30 pm
Bath Lacrosse plays at Geneva at 7 pm
The baseball games, originally, were Penn Yan/WayCo at 4:30 and Attica/Bath at 7. Therefore, the two games for each school would have been at the same time.I'm assuming they made the time switch to acommodate fans, parents, etc who might want to try and attend both games ?? For me, it works out great because I can catch most of both game since I have a kid on both the baseball and lacrosse team.

that's my rationale then. Bath beat leroy. Leroy beat alexander. Alexander beat Attica
that means that bath already has a 3 run advantage. (figure that one out)

ok. assuming we have no scores.
Bath beat LeRoy. Giving Bath 1 run
Leroy beat Alexander. Giving Bath another run.(still following me?)
Alexander beat Attica. Meaning that technically, Bath has beat Attica by 3 runs already this year. Because you take one run for each win as you don't know the margin of victory. So they have a 3 run advantage. Confusing i know.

Great game! I feel very bad for the Attica kids and coaching staff, but that being said let's not take anything away from Bath. They hung tough and battled back from what was once a 3 run deficit. Scored two in the bottom of seventh for the win. For Bath, I don't think pitching was the problem. Their pitcher only allowed two hits, one HR and a three run base hit. Attica had a few (four??) errors that I'm certain they wish they had back but that's the way it goes sometimes. I hope Bath wins out thru States because that will make the Blue Devils from Attica look pretty good. Good Luck Bath and nice season Attica!!

First and foremost... a heartly congratulations to a downright feisty Attica team that took it to us. I didn't have a program so please forgive my spelling or use of numbers. I just got back from my other son's lacrosse game in Geneva, ( sadly lost 9-3 ) The young man who pitched for Attica, Keicher I believe, did one whale of a job tonight. He kept the Bath hitters off balance, I thought very well, changing speeds and hitting his locations for the most part. He threw his curve for strikes and also had a nice straight change. Until the last inning I waas sure he would keep us at bay !!
Montana Yastremski made only two " bad " pitches all night. I believe he gave up only three hits. He left a fastball up to # 7 and he promptly deposited it in the parking lot for a HR. The other was a hanging curve to Scripp who laced a two out double into right center clearing the bases. That gave attica a 4-1 lead. After the 4th inning he kept us in the game !! It looked like that was all that Attica would need as Keicher did his thing on the mound. Kosek made an outstanding catch in the first inning on a drive in the gap by Rossi. He then almost made another acrobatic catch on a long Brett Havens drive that he, had for a second, hit the fence, and the ball just careemed out over the fence for a HR for Bath. Rossi had also had an ESPN highlight stretching out to snare a line drive at 3rd base in the 3rd. All this set the stage for a dramatic ending in the 7th for Bath. Attica is up 4-3 going into the bottom of the 7th.
Matt Whedbee led off for Bath and quickly flied out. Billy Crowe then hit a hard ground ball to SS that was misplayed. That brought Mike Rossi to the plate with one out. On a 1-1 pitch he laced a double into the gap in right field and Coach Buckley waved Crowe around third attempting to score. The relay throw was a little in the dirt and Billy scored Bath's 4th run tying the game. As the ball short hopped the catcher Rossi tried to take third and was called out. Two outs and tie game. That brought Brett Havens to the plate who walked on 5 pitches. It didn't take Coach Buck long to send Havens ( our fastest base runner ) off on a hit and run. Montana Yaastremski was the batter and he looped a single just in front of the diving outfielders who could not make a throw to catch the speedy Havens who scored standing up. Phew.
I really felt bad for the Attica boys. They played their hearts out and yes they did have us precariously on the ropes. I do, though, have to give the the Bath players and the middle of our order props. They have come through all year long in pressure situiations. We won many one run games that most onlookers thought we maybe should have dropped. To win sectionals you must have a little luck and we may have used all of ours up tonight.
I also heard that WayCo was winning 8-0 in the 5th against Penn Yan and.. Avoca lost 4-2.
Rams15
06-03-2008, 10:26 PM
WayCo was leading Penn Yan 12-0 going into the 5th. Penn Yan scored 9 runs in that inning making it 12-9. WayCo's ace, Alex Pragle came in the last 3 1/3 innings to preserve the victory ( 15-9 ) for WayCo who will meet Bath in the BB finals Friday night at a place and time TBD.
WayCo and Bath played three games this season. Bath won a one run game at WayCo, Bath defeated WayCo at Bath 7-3, and WayCo beat Bath at Wayland 8-6.

I thought that the young man, Scripp from Attica, was going to duplicate Kirk Gibson's ( Tigers ) feat of winning the game on a key hit and then limping around the bases. The poor kid was in obvious pain, ( hamstring injury ? ) but roped a key, bases-clearing, double, to give Attica a three run cushion. He could barely walk and what courage he showed to try and keep his team in the game !! That is a moment he should remember for a long time. I hear he may be going to GCC to play ball next year. Any truth to that ??
The boys from Bath spoke of their respect for the kids from Attica and the level of enthusiasm that they exhibited last night. You always like to win, but you still feel for an opponent that played their guts out !! My congratulations to a very nice ballclub on an outstanding season !!

Thanks again! Yes that was quite a scene in the 3rd with him limping down first base line. He hurt his knee earlier in the year, maybe Football related and it has been bothering him all year. Then he evidently really hurt it badly late last week or over the weekend. Tried to go in warmups but just couldn't. Not making excuses, but it would have been nice to have him in the defensive lineup. I've heard GCC and some four year schools. Not sure if he has decided yet. Baseball is his best sport! Anyways thanks again and good luck the rest of the way!!
