Aunt Rosie's in Amherst @ the pepsi center is probably the best around this area. They have lots of teams from canada, ohio, penn. & the top local talent. 16U is June 27-29, 14U is July 3-6, 12U July 11-13, 18U July 24-27

anyone been to a good tournament in the last few weeks? Softball does not end with the high school state tournament.

College Showcase Tournament in Binghamton, July 11-13 for 18U. Teams from all over and many of the college coaches on the east coast will be there.

42 Gold and Elite teams showed up in Binghamton for play on Fri, Sat and Sunday. Every team played at least 5 games before rain shortened the tournament. In the area, both the TC Tremors and Conklin Raiders faired well.

Attended the Webster Tournament. It seems the quality of teams has went down.

Was that 12U, 14U and 16U? I was there for some of it, too... some teams were fundamentally strong and some weren't. Also, I couldn't walk 50 feet without being hit in the face by High School and College Softball gossip!

Mostly coaching changes... nothing I want to feed into. The one I thought was the most disappointing was Doug Kircher is out at Sutherland. I understand the whole "not working for the district" thing, but he's been coaching soccer and softball for a long time - and doing a very nice job.

From where I am standing it seems parents/players are making decisions on who should be coaching. This is a sad state for athletics. Where is the backbone AD's once had. How can any coach feel safe if a group wants a coach out? It seem if a coach does not play the certain players they get mad and want the coach fired. Some parents do not look at the whole pitcher, they only care if their daughter is playing, even if she is not the best at her position. They think just because they are a senior they should start. The best players should start regardless of grade.

I heard Mercy, BK, and of course Sutherland jobs are open. Any others? Rumor has it a former college coach is applying for the Mercy job.

You really could change that some to most. Its the way our society works now - HS sports are treated as rec sports by many parents.

That is very sad to hear. If parents want rec sports they should go to their town and sign up their son/daughter.
