Hey Field Hockey players, there is good news upcoming we hope. As many of you may or may not know, Syracuse University has a new coaching staff! Ange Bradley and Lynn Farquar formerly of Richmond. I recently attended a clinic there with my daughter and not only was it a great time but very imformative. As you know compared to PA. and other states we tend to be FH dry around here in the off seasons. The coaches noted this and want very much to fix that problem. Now there is nothing in stone yet, but Lynn Farquar has mentioned a U16 club using SU facilities if possible and also possible week night games during the summer!
They are very genuine and nice people to talk to and want very much to get this area going . One of the questions that was asked of me was why aren't there more local girls at SU? As most of you know the former coach didn't recruit until late from around here if at all,which is what I explained. The reason many of you may not have heard of the clinic is that they just aren't familiar with the local coaches and would like very much to hear from them and find where the hockey is! So players tell your coaches and coaches, if you read this drop Ange a line and introduce yourself. She will return your e-mail, have patience they are still moving up from Richmond.
The clinic was a pretty intense one, about 35 min of warm up and drill exercise with ladders and such. Then stick work, flowing triangles etc. focussing on dynamic receiving and passing skills. Followed by game play. Good stuff all. Keep an eye out and I will keep the forum posted.
