do you guys have any home meets? or what is your favorite coarse to run on? bath is so bad for xc. we practice next to a playground and we run on a 750m grass loop around our soccer field lol. we dont have any places for meets we tried at mossy bank but no. my favorite place is mcquaid invite. i love that coarse and the competition. i also like oatka park(might of misspelled it) all in the deep woods.

Where town is Oatka Park in?
Marcus Whitman is a great test for a cross country runner, the course at Newark (the old Stuart Park) is another.
Genesee Valley Park (McQuaid Invite) course is a zoo. The course is not easy but on a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the toughest, I'd say GVP is a 2.
I like Sunken Meadow, site of this years state meet. There is going to be a range of opinions on this, it all depends if you like a challenge or if you like 'em flat and fast. Flat and fast is good if you're a miler, add some hills and now it's a race.

I love Oatka, it's my favorite. Pembroke is a nice course, so is GCP1 (only one i've ran on idk about GCP2) For some sick reason I really like Stonybrook, it's a good challenge for a new runner like i was last year
We have a home meet this year and our invite so we get to run at Alexander twice :D i don't like our course too much though because it's just two loops

yeah ours isn't that bad at worst it's a gradual hill two loops
unless we change it to the death course (we practice on it) then it'll have one of the hardest hills to go up in section v haha no joke, it's nasty but it'd have to be flattened and whatnot so i doubt that'll happen

stony brook has a nasty hill in the back. states last year had a 3 killer hills. one of them was called stinger hill, the other was swear hill and i forgot the other one. i like mcquaid cuz you know im miler haha.

big long gradual hill to start the race..... run around the top of the hill.... then go back down to about the starting line... (i'd like to say it's about .8 miles, but i'm not really sure)... back up the hill only you go left this time (went right on first loop)... run a little on the top of the hill, then down a steep wet paved road through some woods, another little loop... then back to the start of the loop and go up this hill of death..... i'd compare it a lot to the first hill at stony brook. Only it is not quite as steep, and when you clear the woods part of the hill, you are only really half done with it even through it feels like you should be done.... then back around to the top of the hill that you started with and run down the finish line that is on a level area parallel to the starting hill. it's a shorter course... like 3 miles even i think
boobiemiles
08-19-2008, 12:57 AM
i dont think that helped at all......
so basically it's a 2 times up a long gradual hill
and once up a steep long hill.................................
my favorite courses were always stony brook, mill creek, and the hfl park for some reason haha............ and i also had 2 really good days at livonia when i ran it this year and my freshman year
i also hated our course at oakfield.....
and there's a new course at holley... does anybody know anything about that

Coarse would be more appropriate if you were describing sandpaper.

mill creek is some godforsaken golf course that i ran at......... i think my sophomore year, i graduated last year..........
it has a big long down hill to start... run around the golf course a little, then up a steep grassy hill, back down another hill and back up the starting hill to finish.... for some reason i really liked that place...
the hfl course i thought was really fun just cuz of how hilly it is

also, i never liked gcc because of how windy it can get by county championship times, and I also thought byron bergen invite was always too hot and it never felt right until we go into the woods

that marcus witmen course seems easy but its very deceptive. that long gradual hill kills people. i always believe if you feel good after the first loop you are going to have a good race.

There is no pond, but there is some concrete and a long section of wood chips and their big and get stuck in your spikes. Even the guys with pin spikes had to stop and pull some chunk of wood off their shoes. The day we practiced a couple of us went back to the bus and put our trainers on and we was so much faster than the spike guys. Good luck - when do you race there?
