Hows Section V looking this year? Who is strong? Who are the top players?

Even though I'm from Victor and CA are our rivals, I would have to say that they are going to be pretty good this year. They have a lot of really good younger players (Friend, D'Amore, H. Marafioti). Like kahm said, Brighton and PY are going to be tough to beat as usual.

Don't forget with the new alignment, it should make competition for the class B crown actually something to watch this year! Brighton and Thomas will probably be the last two standing, but I think Canandaigua also has a legitiment shot if they can get the young players adapted quickly enough. For class A, Penfield and R-H are always tough to beat. Both return a good number of starters. Class C, ER and PY will probably be the teams to beat. Don't overlook Waterloo or HF-L though, they're young programs, but growing very quickly.

I think teams like Brighton and PY lost a lot of talent over the past few years, but they should be dominant for at least one more season. After that, it seems like there's going to be a lot more parity in the league. Should be a fun season to watch (everyone got their parkas ready?!).

Does anyone have any input on who to watch and which players will have the greatest impact on Section V?

Look for Brighton, RH & PennYan to rule. All are very deep with exceptional young players as well. I don't see any parity anytime soon. On the West side, look out for a vastly improved Gates-Chili team. Might surprise some people.

I think I'd add Canandaigua to that list of young, talented players. I kind of agree with the parity thing. I see a lot of teams following suit as far as youth programs, it's just not at the point where I'd call it parity. I feel teams and coaches are becoming more dedicated and realizing that there is no off season. Parity is much more evident at the collegiate level. It's getting to be almost as difficult to get recruited to a college program for lacrosse, as it is for softball and basketball. Should be fun to watch the season unfold.

I have to disagree with your recruiting point. Section V sends about 30-40 lacrosse players to D-1 schools every year and about 5 basketball players. There are about 250 more college basketball teams than lacrosse too.

It's definitely not as easy as it used to be.

It is nowhere near as difficult as basketball, baseball or football.
