The Express, the Ernie Davis movie, premiered tonight in Syracuse and will come out later this fall. I believe that this is going to be one of the best hard pressing movies of the fall. As far as sports movies goes, the man in charge of football scenes in the play has quite the background on the subject. He was also head coordinator in charge of the football scenes in Friday Night Lights as well as Any Given Sunday. Anybody who has seen football movies knows that those two movies are two of the best. He says that unlike Remember the Titans and Invincible, His movies are not scripted football scenes. They are live action, full speed plays. He says that the only thing that is scripted about his football scenes is where and how the ball carrier is tackled. If you are not a football fan, the movie tackles the issue of breaking racial barriers as Ernie Davis must deal with being the face of the National Championship team, and eventually becoming the first African-American to win the Heisman memorial trophy. Today I was able to hear Dennis Quad talk about how moved he was by the story of Ernie Davis and how much he learned about the times. I was also able to hear Jim Brown and several other teammates of Ernie Davis talk about how much Ernie was able to change their lives, and how accurate the movie is to reality.

I believe that this will be one of the truly great sports movies and what better of a setting than in Syracuse, New York.

I spent a 1/2 hour watching the interviews on the Orange carpet. Jim Brown, Flloyd Little, Dennis Quaid, Art Monk, Bob Costas and the other stars of the movie. Was very cool and being 45 miles from Elmira the hometown of Ernie Davis "The Elmira Express" it's about time someone immortalized him on film. A great life cut short. I would encourage anyone who doesn't know the Ernie Davis story to check out what tyou can online. Maybe the greatest football player to ever play in NY state.
