Just wondering what everyone's favorite gym in wayne county was to play in. Being as Im from rc i gotta say i like our gym especially when its full. Other than that i really like the lyons community center gym where they host their games now. The floor is really unique and seems grippy than some of the other floors around. i remember when i played on jv and we played sodus at sodus and we went into overtime, the atmosphere was so loud it was amazing.
Here's my top three:
1.) Red Creek / Lyons
2.) Williamson
3.) ER

Not to rain on the parade here .... Yes the Lyons community center is a great facility but if you dribble the ball right around the lions head in the middle of the court the whole tip off circle is dead. It makes it very hard to dribble.

ha and you've never been blocked in your career? of course the home crowd will 'explode' for a block on an opposing, or yet 'rival', teams player...thats just how it goes.

My favorite gym was NR-W. The rims there are wonderfully soft, and there's nothing quite like the memory of beating a team by twenty on their own senior night.

I don't like playing in NRW there is always no crowd there it seems but big section points for us small schools if we can beat them. BTW Sodus's warm up music is PRICELESS

Marion has a nice gym. It's big. Red Creek is nice, but I've never been there when it has lots of people. Williamson is good, but the straps over the rims drive me nuts. Sodus is nice, but lighting is poor. Understand what they mean about dead spots in Lyons, but still a nice gym. ER is good, just need more room behind the baskets. I like Gananda too and the set up with the locker rooms right off the gym is nice. I guess what I am saying is every gym has it's good and bad points, well except the big house. How can you say anything bad there??? ; )

Marion - Great gym, bright lights, super clean - orange and black look tough together
Gananda - Best gym - bright, clean, huge and almost always full of fans

Franklin....classic floor, bright and always loud
East High.......only during night games. The sun shine in during day games and you will get blinded.
Waterloo........brand new. Huge. Great Lighting
Midlakes.....always a packed house
Oakfield/Alabama......I have never been a big fan of the one sided bleacher system, but with the exception of having very little room on the bench side of the court, this is a nice atmosphere.
Notre Dame Batavia.....yes, the little bad box is a great place to play and work in. I can remember working the baseline as an official and going into Little Italy. I came out with 2 recipes for Greens and Beans, one for Mama's Homemade Sauce and 50 bucks. Notre Dame won the game.

better to observe the game for bench warmers like yourself, not to play on tho. old school gyms have a great atmosphere and it always seems like the fans are right on top of the floor because of the lesser capacity compared to the new "state of the art" gyms with the checker floor.

This site is about opinions - however your opinions can be easily disputed with this thing called fact. Many of the posters on this site are older than high school or even college aged people. Hence the name HOOPFAN33 - I love the game, I enjoy watching it, learning it and sometimes even in my nearly elderly state playing it. I also enjoy reading a variety of peoples opinions on teams and even players. However, I loath people that just hop on and slam people for not good reason (except jealousy) Eli is; a two-time first team all-state player - a first team all AGR player, a league MVP and has seen two state championship banners hung. He was also one of the potential sectional champs in wrestling this year, before he decided to change sports. Quit slamming other people, do some reading and come back when you are informed. There are a few isolated idiots on this site that make it difficult to stomach at times - congrats youare now on this short list.

i think this thread can mean many things. Like some ppl said it can mean how loud a gym is and the fans. To some it can mean where they like to play most. Or how the gym looks. Personally i like playin at GCC just because of the floor. For some reason it feels like i can jump higher. One of the nicer looking gyms i have been in is southerland's gym but i hate the basketball rims there.

In my day I used to love playing in the old Sodus and Lyons gyms. Lots of people, hot, rowdy and LOUD! Clyde was the same when they came on in the 80's. I haven't seen that in years in any gym, but of course I don't see those games anymore. Most of the gyms are bigger now and it doesn't seem as though people are excited about basketball like they used to be. Maybe it's just because I don't live in a basketball town any longer. And, what happened to the good ole days when there were cheerleaders and spectator buses at the boys away games. WHO IS KILLING THE FUN IN BASKETBALL AND RIVALRIES??

your not old. there was a time when cheerleaders form both teams attended games and got there student sections going from different sides of the gym. that was fun, kids where loud, parents and fans showed emotion for there teams, good old fun. thank the schools and there so called security for turning gyms into morgues. it is for the kids that are playing and the kids rooting for there teams. As long as they are not vulger let them be as loud as they want. Don't forget we were kids once and boy did we have fun in packed gyms at ER in the 70's. Boy I am old. I hate when the administration shuts down the cheering...I mean jeering and taunting from the crowd happens in ALL sports..Its a part of it and makes them what they are. As a player i get pumped up when the crowd is loud and rowdy, it doesnt matter what they say just as long as they are yelling...Its quite boring when there is no noise being made in the gym..
