Athena has some nice young players. I wouldn't be surprised to see them at or near the top in the next 2-3years.

Thomas is far more susceptible this year than last. Teams gang up on Reidy and Crawford isn't a target like Shuber was, to hold up the ball for others to join the attack. Thomas never really had an all star defense like Penfield did when winning their state titles, they were just solid with an all star offense to keep the pressure away. This year its the same, its just that their offense isn't quite as high powered as last year. I think Brockport, Athena, McQuaid and even Churchville-Chili are capable of knocking them off in sectionals. If they get the AA title, Penfield and Fairport will give them a difficult time reaching states. But that's the beauty of Section Five soccer!

perry defeats keshequa 3-2... keshequa went up early for a 2-0 lead.. then perry started to gain some momentum when lucas pachuta scored a goal with about 20 minutes left in the 1st half... right after the whistle blew for the second half perry led a charge down the field to tie it up with a goal by tyler bush... then the game started to get good, back and forth back and forth it was crazy.. with about 10 minutes left keshequa had throw in after throw in like 5 corners and free kicks but they couldnt score because of our defense.. the announcer says one minute left and perry led another charge and with 17 secs left in the game lucas pachuta hits it perfect upper 90 to seal the win for perry!!

C-C gave Thomas another scare last night with a 3-2 game.

There were a couple of important games for Class B and C/CC last night too:
Pal-Mac handed Mynderse their second loss of the season (14-2). Pal-Mac is a decent class A team though.

HAC beat Honeoye, the top CC team, to grab a solid hold of a top 3 spot in C. Honeoye also has to face the #2 class C team, Geneseo, tomorrow. They should have a pretty good indication of where they stand after this weekend.

My guess is that it is due to the fact that, statistically, they have not been good for the last couple years. This year they finally got everything going for them. They probably just expect to win every single game. You've got to remember, soccer is one of the most emotional games out there.

One player was kicked off the team as a result of the aftermath of the game and another was suspended. That let down was probably key to their 3-0 loss to Honeoye on Saturday.

We play them on Tuesday. Just wondering so we could try to plan accordingly. The GK situation could be bad for them; looks like they have only had one kid play goal all year.

If it's the goalie then his suspension didn't start with the Honeoye game because off of your own link Drew, "Honeoye forced Geneseo goalie Joe Rutigliano to make 17 saves." Even if Rutigiliano, who is an excellent keeper despite his age, is still playing Geneseo only possessed a 16 man roster at the start of the year, a majority of them underclassman. The loss of 2 players, starter or otherwise, for any amount of time could have a dramatic change on the Geneseo team that, until recently, and been cruising through their season.

Perry 1 (didn't catch who scored on a direct kick 1st half)
Bath-Haverling 1 (Mike Rossi on a penalty kick 2nd half)

Having not seen all the hype that is Bath-Haverling before, I decided to take a trip down the road and take in the game. All I can say is I don't know if it was a down day for them, or if Perry's scrappy/physical style of play completely threw them off but they weren't what I expected after reading their hype on these boards and seeing their record. That being said Perry was VERY lucky to escape off their turf with the tie and all their men on the field. I've watched Lucas Pachuta for the last 4 years and I've been impressed with both his foot skill and his finishing abilities, but tonight I watched from the side of the field as he threw a blatant elbow in the first half that wasn't called or carded. Lucas lost possession, was bumped off the ball, and swung around with the elbow and it made me fairly sad that such a good player would get frustrated that fast and resort to that type of play. That one play aside Perry's goal keeper was solid enough and their Defense was outstanding keeping form well and scrambling to help their keeper (once clearing a ball that was ON the goal line). Bath-Haverling's two shining stars for me were Luke Ferree and John Smith. Smith was absolutely a blur of speed and aside from 2 worm burner flip throws every other one was as good as a corner kick. Ferree was solid in the back and played several good balls forward both in the run of play and off set pieces. I guess I was just surprised at how the game played out, I was expecting something completely different. Big congrats to Perry for the tie, it was hard fought and you earned it.

The elbow thrown wasn't to the face, it was to the back/neck area, and the only reason I saw it was because I was over on the parking lot side of the field. After Lucas was spun he was facing the parking lot, the Bath player was facing the stands, the elbow came up and back and it connected. I've seen Lucas get frustrated before and resort to pushes etc, he was even carded against Letchworth for such a foul I believe. I can understand a push or a shove in frustration, it has to get under your skin being that skilled and being marked man to man in just about every single game, it's a contact sport but this was a bit far even for Mr. Pachuta.

On another note the word out on Geneseo was that 3 players really went off at Perry, not sure what punishments were handed down and not 100% sure but the names I heard were Mel Rogers, Elvin Johnson, and Joe Rutigliano. Seeing as Joe was playing against Honeoye that might narrow things down a bit, but like I said that's not 100% confirmed as of yet.

They dominated the first 7 minutes with possesion but after that, the game was all mcquaid other than a few outside shots here and there. Stephen Baker scored two goals and was very impressive with his ball skills and finishing ability. Congrats to Mcquaid...Well deserved

The Final from Paetec Park, Letchworth 2 - Avon 0. After a very evenly played first half, the majority of 50/50's won by Avon but the majority of shots and scoring chances by LCS, the horn on the big score board sounded with a 0-0 tie. Into the 2nd half Letchworth started it's scoring with a well placed cross from Max Meixner that was finished by Junior midfielder Cam McLaughlin with a diving header for his first varsity goal (and what a memorable first goal, game winning, diving header on a pro field). The scoring was capped off on a cross from Junior Andre Roberts and a 6 yard put away, on a brilliantly timed run from the wing through to the middle, by Junior Devon Bacon for his 3rd of the season. Jason Lowden also recorded his 10th shut out of the season behind yet another solid showing of team defense, to keep the Indians undefeated in Livingston DII (12-4-1, 9-0-1).

Lost 3-2. Eastridge scored their last 2 goals in the final 10 minutes.

Sorry to hear about all your injuries tonight, I hope all your players do well in their respective recoveries. As to Greg Kryman's 2 yellow's here is part 2 of the Section V Yellow Card Policy:

"2. If a player/coach receives three yellow cards during the regular season, he is ineligible to participate in the next scheduled game (league or non-league). Following this if a player/coach receives two more yellow cards during the regular season; he is ineligible to participate in the next scheduled game (league or non-league). For each additional yellow card received, he is obligated to sit out an additional game. Players/coaches receiving yellow cards in their last regular season game that result in a game suspension (3-2-1) are ineligible in their first postseason game."

I think it\'ll be very different than the first game. We\'re on our field which is probably the biggest in Monroe by far, and we\'re used to it. Also, I didn\'t play against Odyssey the first time so I hope that\'ll change the outcome a little. We have a completely different lineup in and hopefully things will click early and often.

Letchworth 3 - LeRoy 0. On a sun filled yet chilly afternoon Letchworth finished their regular season on in a well contested match with LeRoy. Junior CJ Lathrop started the scoring for the Indians in the first half with 4:30 seconds to go on a scramble in the box when Nick Pankow's header from 6 yards out hit the post and bounce across the goal line. CJ continued his scoring 10 minutes into the 2nd half on a pass from Junior Andre Roberts. Letchworth finished their scoring on a corner taken by Andy VanderPloeg that found Cam McLaughlin's head on the back post with about 13 minutes to go in the game. LeRoy impressed me never giving up or backing down and spending a considerably more time in the Letchworth end of the field after Lathrop had scored his second goal. The score doesn't reflect what an enjoyable game it was to watch, best of luck to both teams as Sectionals start.
