How does everybody feel about Kearney's chances for success this upcoming season?
Everybody knows that Gray and Roberts are gonna score, but I think that one of the biggest questions will be their team defense. This team has one of the highest ceilings in Section V, and I really think that they have a shot at making it to states this year with Charlotte out of BB.

bishop kearney has a really good team with roderick grey and blair roberts. both who made second team agr last year. They also got a new student from spencerport who started point guard for them last year and is now at bk. Bk also has a 6'9 center now who has improved alot. The lewis kid is big and strong and will be a force down low and the jv team had a real good shooting guard last year who will be on varsity. Kearney is a basketball school and this year will be no exception.

They really have a 6'9" kid? I knew about most of the other players, but I thought center was their biggest hole.

yah he is 6'9 and tough. i saw there summer league game and they got a solid defense. they have this small forward who only plays defense, not to much of a threat on offense but is a lock down defender. idk his name i think he is a senior and was on the team last year but didnt play much

i believe bishop kearney is one of the top 3 teams in all of section v...what was the jv guards name? is he a starter this year?

James Taylor, number 32, he starts at small forward.
Kearney could end up being the 2nd best team in section V this year, if they're not already.

yea James Taylor(JT) has really stepped up big this year in kearneys first game he was 2nd leading scorer behind blair roberts(blair had 21, JT had 16). in the 2nd game he only had 6 but they came in big moments and he was in foul trouble and sat out the whole second quarter and fouled out at the end. he shoots the 3 real well, he can jump out the gym, and has gotten a lot better. he was on varsity at the beginning of last season but struggled with learning the plays so he was put back on JV where he did real well there then was called up for sectionals at the end of the season. the scary thing about kearney is that they only have 3 seniors this year and none of them get a lot of playing time. so this team will have almost everyone back again next year and only a year more improved.

They're gonna miss the three seniors, especially the big one, Coyle.
He had a huge game friday night, 4 blocks, 9 boards, and the dunk that put the game away, all off the bench.

one of the seniors is a captian i think. isnt that leadership they would be losing? BK is a good well rounded team. They have size, and a very deep bench. Most importantly they have leaders. against marshall ten different people played in what was a real close game. Zman? do you know what your talking about? The coyle kid is a senior and contributed heavily in the win friday.

He said he went there for 4 years. I think he was a bench player.
Look at the last couple pages in the "Best games to watch this year" thread

he's prolly about 6'1-6'2 now. but whoaaaa everyone else needs to calm down. i wasn't saying the senior's aren't good or anything like that. all im saying is that they have pretty much everyone coming back next year.

must be the best as the Irish defeated them last night. As for the 6'9" kid, he played sparingly in last nights game.

yeah...that game moves BK out of the top 10 overall. They'll have to win some other big ones to get back in.
Small schools on the other hand they can remain a top 3 team...

I dont think Avon will stay close. BK should win by about 18-24. I am a big supporter of avon sports but do not think they have a chance vs BK

BK only beat dansville a team that Avon handled, by 22 but the game was closer than the score. Dansville was down 10 at half and got it down to 6 in the third quarter then they got in foul trouble and they dont have much of the bench. I think Avon deffinently has a chance to win this game if they shoot well and get back on defense those are the two keys for me.

haha do you think i care if anyone likes me on here? NEP
im just on here to prove that im right all the time :)
and so far no ones proven me wrong.
As for the game last night bk played dansville and the guy at the table said if bk plays like they did against dansville last night when they play avon we would definately beat them. and bk played terrible last night sloppy and everything. JT sat the whole 2nd quarter and some of the first. and roderick didnt play at all in the 4th quarter and still had 20

Avon did beat Dansville at the beginning of the year, but I would not be surprised at all to see Dansville win the second game. I think Avon will have a tough time with BK. Avon has nothing to lose playing BK, I think Avon would wear down against BK, Avon's starters have not played into the 4th quater or have been really tested this year, this could hurt them late in the season.
garnet21w
02-03-2009, 10:47 AM
Yeah, avon won by 8, and I agree that their starters have never been tested late in a game

Not to nitpick, but Avon beat Dansville by 12. They were up over 20 at one point in the game though.
I do think BK will beat Avon though. They're just gonna be too much for them. I think if Avon handles BK's first punch then they'll stick around in the game for a while but ultimately lose. If they can't take the first punch, it could be a long long game for the Braves.

dont get your hopes up there big guy...
but i dont think dansville would get blown out by avon i think dansville has a great shot at beating them and also has a great shot at maybe seein bk again in the big house. the avon bk game idk why everyone is so excited about it. its the first time bk has played a team from a lower class than B in years. How many times has Avon seen the speed that BK has?
Boons already scouted Avon a couple times so the gameplan is gonna be good headin into the game

This happened two years ago when Campbell-Savona was Ranked #1 in the State in Class C & Prattsburgh was ranked #1 in Class D. If both teams don't stumble before they play, Kearney will be ranked #1 in B & Avon #1 in C

Lackawanna will be tough for BK on saturday i think unless they lost everyone from last year but there usually pretty good. As for next wednesday i wouldnt be surprised if Avon feeds off all there pregame energy and gets out to a quick early run. It usually happens when BK plays these kinda teams. Boon will take a timeout settle his guys down and then its gametime from there as usual
