#4 gananda takes on #1 honeoye at penn yan wednesday
i think honeoye will obviously carry away with the win. with overall record of 15-3-1 we carried the top seed and obviously proved we are the best in cc. ganandas defense seems to be sloppy allowing 30 goals, and their offense seems nothing more than mediocre... with only 27 goals for. dylan jobson will get things done for honeoye adding atleast 2 goals and i think we'll get another one or two. our tough, disciplined defense will earn us the shut out as we defeat gananda atleast 4-0 at penn yan

#7 marion takes on #3 byron-bergen
i think byron bergen will easily pull away from this match with the W. they have the strong offense to get things done. their defense will only allow one goal imo. marion has struggled for the first part of the season and lost to sodus 1-0. i think byron bergen will embarass marion with a final score of 4-1.

when you're coming out of seed 7 and 4, it doesnt say much... im not underestimating wayne county teams... just these two that come from wayne county.

fingerlakesfan.... first off no one said that your team was bad or anything...everyone is simply stating that you shouldnt count a wayne county team out, and that it is going to be a more even competitive game than you posted about to start.

I have personally seen you both play, ( i have actually seen all 4 teams that are left in this bracket play at least once, some twice) Both of these semi final games should be very even games and it will come down to not only skill on the field, but the determanation to win. ( which many times sectional games are decided by)

ill be the one to say it... wayne county is the toughest league in section V... with that being said... and with me not being from Wayne County (Genesee Region) Honeoye is not that good... they had a weak schedule and they racked up points against garbage teams... so Honeoye should really keep there mouths shut until they have a Fuzzy little white patch from Section. Honeoye prove yourselves and we will shut up. However, you brought up the polls... you may have been state ranked, (by the way, the state only looks at records, not schedules) but u failed to be ranked in the D&C Coaches poll for a large margin of the year, and they see the teams and base it on their play. just saying. Prove yourselves Honeoye. Everybody can talk as much crap on here as they want, let the field decide.

For the record, I want to apologize for one of my overzealous players who took it upon himself to spout off about our team the night before our semifinal game against Gananda tomorrow night at Penn Yan's turf field.

I am the varsity soccer coach and I have nothing but the utmost respect for our opponent, their coach, and their players. Our game tomorrow night will be a great matchup at a great venue that I, and my players, are looking forward playing.

I agree that the regular season and the post-season are two different entities...something I emphasized in practice the past week...but obviously it fell on at least one set of "blocked" ears!

I also have the utmost respect for Wayne county soccer and the teams that are in that league...in my opinion they are one of the toughest boys soccer leagues in New York State, and as a result, I agree that a team's record coming from Wayne county doesn't reflect the quality of the team...its players...or its overall program.

We look forward to the challenge of playing Gananda...it should be a great contest featuring two talented teams playing for a chance to take the class CC title!

One voice does NOT represent the sentiments of my team or myself...so please regard MY post as the "official" HONEOYE position on our game vs. Gananda tomorrow night, and please disregard the opinions of "Fingerlakes Fan 90"!

It has nothing to do with it at all... the only reason I brought up the past about Marion is stating that it can be done from a low seed like 7th... and showing it has happened in the recent past...

fingerlakesfan just doesnt understand that sectionals and the regular season are 2 totally different things... and that numbers in your record dont mean anything anymore...

with that I predict the following...

Gananda and Honeoye will be tied 2-2 after regulation and overtime, and Gananda will advance on PK's

Marion 3-2 over Bergen in regulation

that is just my opinion, and prediction... fingerlakesfan please dont come on here and get all upset and start throwing names around because I predicted your team to lose, its nothing personal... like I said I have seen all 4 teams play at least once, and that is what I am going off of, not just records!

Most of you just need to grow up!

Who cares if it's a ref or a coach or a player or a fan? If they have insight as a ref and have seen them play and is just offering an opinion - BIG DEAL! They would be the most knowledeable to offer an opinion. If it's a coach just chiming in to defend his team from a bad apple (whether he was a player or not that made the post), I think it's a good idea to stop the bulletin board material from flying.

People! Just remember - IT'S ONLY A GAME!! and these are kids having fun - not the pros playing fopr milliions.

I think all four teams have an equal shot at winning the championship.

Yes, Marion and Gananda play in the tough Wayne League but both have lost or been close in games they should've clearly won easily and on the other hand Byron and Honeoye have done what they were supposed to to most of the lesser quality teams on there schedule.

Yes, the polls are skewed and for the most part hold no merit due to the impossibility of being able to rate every high school team in a division let alone a county or the state.

Now for the Games

Honeoye has some definite talent in Jobson, Conversi, Beaney and White.

Gananda has some great talent in Bozzelli, Casciani, Pagano and Leone.

So I see this one going down to the wire but also would not be surprised if one of them breaks loose and wins by at least 2 goals as Bozzelli and Jobson are always a threat to take it to the net and score 2 or 3 times quickly.

As far as Marion they have an overall very balanced team with a kid to watch in the future in DeLyser who still has two years left, they also have May and Metcalf who can surprise you if left alone.

Byron is always very well coached and has a rich history and tradition on there side, they have a great GK in Sass of which the defenders are a great tribute to that success. You also have Longhini who is very unselfish and helps in any way possible along with Barrett.

So another great game that is to hard to predict but should be very entertaining.

Any way the games go the kids should just remember to have fun and give it your best and you will have no regrets and only memories after it's over.
