Come on. Players from Gananda, Bath, and Leroy????? Seriously, just keep these polls within Monroe County (Class AAA, AA, A). The rest, well..........
Athena has a very good sophomore #6: Johnluca Como (sp?). Small, but very technical.

Look at how HFL did against Monroe County teams:
1-0 Win over Schroeder
3-0 Loss to Victor
3-0 win over Churchville-Chili
1-1 tie with Mendon
3-2 win over Sutherland
2-2 tie with Thomas
Then look at their scores against Bath:
3-1 loss
2-0 loss
That tells me Bath can play with any team in Monroe County.
Get a little educated. There's life outside Monroe County.

Thank you for this post... I'm glad to see that someone knows what they are talking about and that schools that are not in Rochester can play too. In fact, earlier in the season the D & C said Bath is the #1 large school in all of section v or something to that nature don't quote me! but im glad to see schools outside Rochester getting some love

I think they said #1 small school, which is where they still are, but based on how well they fared against HFL, they could play just as well against any of the large schools. I doubt their record would be as good playing a full season against large schools. Especially if they suddenly had 2 or more injuries.

Whichever Figueroa brother is a sophmore has to be the best sophmore in section V right now.
Also, Andrew Smith from Pittsford Mendon and David Wright from Victor are high on the list.

Not sure if you are joking or not, but he is one of only two sophs currently on your varsity roster. I can't say I've seen him play soccer, but if he is as good at soccer as he is at lax, he deserves to be on the list!

Nah, they rate us in the small school poll. Class A-AAA is large school. Class BB and down is small.
I think that article is a typo. Cause us and Hornell are both in the small school poll.

I agree.
I would put Elvin Johnson from Geneseo out there. He's one of the most talented sophomores in the area. If he could get on a solid summer team he could develop into one of the top in his class.

He's probably one of the most talented defenders in Section V. Very fast, quick feet. He has a habit of pulling moves in his own defensive half, but they work a lot of the time so he gets away with it.

Thats just because he plays in a weak league.

There is a player from Aquinas who is an 8th grader who is just incredible to watch. His name is Jordan Allen, & the kid is on the new u-14 national team. The kid was good enough to start for aquinas as an 8th grader but I heard his dad held back on it. Watched him in training with varsity &he was just sick. The boy is special. He plays with a confidence that belies his youth, his first touch is delicious... Also he only takes on opposition when neccesary & his vision is as good as I have seen in years. I really believe he will be a 1st team agr pick as a freshman. I just hope he stays here & does not go to the IMG academy in two or sooner.

Do you understand that at some AA schools, sophomores just don't make Varsity on principle? Of the 8 semifinal teams in AAA/AA there's only about 8 underclassmen who were on the team all season long. You have to be a once in 10 years level of player to be a freshman on varsity at these schools and you have to be once in 5-6 years player to be a sophomore on varsity at the good soccer schools.
Take Brandon Bianchi for example from Spencerport. A freshman who starts and contributes significantly only happens once every 10 or more years in that program. Sure programs have lapses, like Gates-Chili did this year, but those are usually the exceptions not the rules.

I guess I was thinking that not every sophomore class puts players on varsity and in any 4 year period there might not be two players who make it as sophomores. Not every good sophomore player at these schools is added to the varsity roster.

I think your numbers are off for soccer. Because soccer teams generally have upwards of 20 athletes, these teams, even for the bigger schools typically have about 2-4 sophmores and maybe 1 freshman. You are right though in that many JV players in some of the monroe county schools would be very good players on some of the smaller schools' teams. In fact, I might even say that some JV Monroe county teams could beat some of the class D Varsity teams

I'd have to agree with secfivesports here. I think his numbers are spot on. The sophomores count might even go a tad higher depending on if it's a rebuilding year or a reloading year. And there always seems to be a freshman in the mix at least every other year. ;)

Ok, what did Bush do against LeRoy (a fairly weak team) this year? Nothing! No goals, no assists. All his stats came from very weak teams. Yet, there were some weak teams that he couldn't even score on. He is a good player but I don't think you can consider him one of the elite sophomores of Section V.

No offense but Perry is hardly a power in Class C or whatever class they are in so they do not even come close to any of the decent larger school. Last year we(HFL) played them and won like 8 or 9 nothing its not even close. He may be good for small school but to even be considered he would have to absolutely tear it up. The kid Wright from victor... PHENOMENAL. He was tough to mark in 8th grade last year just wait.

Branden Cornish and Zach Prutsman from Jasper-Troupsburg. Even though JT didnt score a lot this year, they still fought their way to sectionals. Branden had 7 goals and 4 assists. Zach played this year as a defensiveman, and he did an awesome job of it too. He saved JT from losing a bunch of goals this season.
