There is a long regular season and anything can happen (injuries, suspensions, poor play) but Class C is going to be the bracket to watch. Le Roy and Cal-Mum are always going to be favorites, but the GR has two powerhouse teams in Oakfield and Pembroke.
Any thoughts?

Hey Hilly and all ! Hilly just wanted to say that I enjoy your articles in the paper and look forward to them as well as then livingston county news as well..But as for Class C Section v in 2007 there are 3 teams that really stand out and they are : oakfield, cal-mum and LeRoy..With being from cal-mum I can say that this years varsity team was awesome on jv's two years ago when they went 7-1 w/ 5 shut outs! only loss was to leroy 21-14 after leading 14-0 at the half..Now i know jayvess do not translate into varsity much but this years cal-mum backfield will be incredible with speedster jon marrozzi and rugged backs shiedel and sullivan returning ..Cal-Mum almost won the PASSING camp at st john fisher and they have never been a passing team..I think it will come down to cal-mum and leroy this year for the title I just dont see anyone including pembroke and oakfield beating either cal-mum or leroy this year..

thanks for the compliment. i agree le roy and cal-mum are going to be tough - like always - but oakfield's line is nasty and pembroke has mckenrick coming back. i am a firm believer in the le roy and cal-mum way of doing things, but i wouldn't look past the gr teams either.

I have a soft spot for Oakfield and I do think they are capable of beating Leroy this year.I don't know anything about Cal Mum but I am hoping that Oakfield can take class C.

oakfield wont take class c they have never had competition like that except for states and some teams in the gr like pembroke, i strongly believe it may be pembroke and leroy or even cal-mum all those teams are tough and have great coaches. i think class c is the class to watch, it is a very tough bracket.

Honestly,Leroy did not impress me much at all. They seemed to make very few mistakes and just got worked over the entire first half.Batavia's offensive mistakes cost them the game in the second half.Leroy didn't beat Batavia.Batavia beat Batavia.Obviously,I'm looking at this from a Batavia perspective and would like to know what other people think. Is Batavia that good or is Leroy, dare we say, just an average team this year. I know its early but at this point I would put Cal-Mum,Oakfield and Pembroke, ahead of Leroy in class C.Call me crazy, but I saw what I saw, which was a average team and a beatable sectional contender.

le roy is still the team to beat in class c. batavia played very well and le roy was very flat. i expect you will see le roy get better as the year goes on and be ready to go for the playoffs.
but i also think cal-mum, oakfield and pembroke will have a shot to win the class c title.
