What do you all think of making one big X-C/Indoor/Outdoor super thread? Or should we make a X-C/Indoor/Outdoor Category with separate forums for Distance, Sprints, Field Events?
What I mean by category is to make an area similar to the "Basketball" category that has a 2008-2009 Season Forum, a Monroe County Forum, etc.
I'd like to hear your thoughts, but I think we can make it more organized and better to use for our Running and field event fans.

i like the idea of sprints/field/distance for the two track threads.

i guess we could, but going through each thread that's open now, most are just about indoor track in general right now. So maybe a general thread too? I dont know.

I think it might work. It would be good to try it and see what happens. Having seperate areas for events definitly might be more organized.

Definitly. Combine both genders, too. If you've ever seen the message boards on dyestat.com - they're great. Its all running combined.

i think if you did sprints/field/distance then some would get a lot of looks and others wouldn't i think it's good the way it is now

Do not combine all 3. They are not all the same sport. It would be alright to combine Indoor and Outdoor track because they are virtually the same sport. Leave XC as it's own entity however.
Also, do not split up the events. That is a bad idea. Like Snowboarder said, some will get tons of looks while others will get none.

I say leave it how it is, or combine indoor and outdoor and leave XC it's own thing.

I personally think its a good idea. It would be more organized and be easier to sort through. I dont post that much in the track threads, and i only read the ones that interest me, and it worked good with basketball so i think that its a good idea.

Get a poll going, but just in indoor track because thats mainly what people are looking at this time of year

Why does it need to be changed anyways? What is wrong with the way it currently is?

It doesn't need to be. I just thought we could make things work better for people.

I say try the sprints/distance/field categories for awhile and see what people think. Or just do a poll in the indoor thread like bdevil suggested.

I dont think it should be changed. Outdoor and Indoor have very different athelets and thus very different disussions come up

My opinion is that we should combine indoor and outdoor. Just because Christian Segar plays baseball in the spring shouldnt affect a thread setup.

Different Events
Indoor has so invites like outdoor
Many more
If you combine them it will be chaos
People will have no idea what is going on

Because it would be indoors and outdoors at the same time.
All the runners would run with umbrellas.

Jus Keep indoor events with indoor category and the outdoor events with the outdoor category.

It really is set up fine now. Track people don't have a problem. I can just see it now
BJ is trying to talk to 13.91 CincO about beating him in indoor, CincO thinks he's talking about outdoor. They argue back and forth forever and CincO's font keeps getting bigger, and bigger, and bigger.
Bad idea again. Two very different sports, two different threads.

Tha Yankees have an open-air stadium while the Twins play in the Metrodome.
Do the Yankees and Twins play different sports?

I know, haha. Just trying to get a rise out of you guys.
Smaller track, different events. My father was a track athlete in high school and college so I understand the differences. He still complains about U of R's indoor track, haha.

UofR is THE worst place ever for track. I'm sorry, but hurdles were not meant to be run in a tunnel or on turf, so no matter what that event sucks there.

I think I'm going to create a "Track&Field" area kind of like there is for basketball. Accept instead of different league forums, we'll have Indoor, Outdoor and XC. I'm going to make it for Boys and Girls and if you want a specific thread just about Girls' times/pbs you can note that in your title.

We got rid of the separate section for Girls track. Combined it all into one area.

should defanatly have a separate forum for each of the catagories like sprint and distance and then there should be a different thread for XC track...indoor and outdoor
