Which Section Five Newspaper has the best Local sports coverage? Why?

Is it the D&C with their Friday Varsity section? The Daily Messenger (Canandaigua)? the Evening Tribune? The Finger Lakes Times? Any of the Post papers (Brockport, Gates, Greece, Pittsford)? The Livingston County News? The Batavian? The Wellsville-Daily? Batavia Daily News?

They win. They do a pretty good job of covering all areas of Section V, whereas the community papers tend to cover their communities....as they should.

I guess I prefer doing a great job on your area, than a so-so job on the whole area.

D&C's advantage is their information available on their website. But I question if that should be taken into account when we're talking about best paper.

As far as covering all of Section V, it would have to be the D&C. I go to the D&C for my daily scores and updates.

I am partial to the LCN for local coverage concerning one particular area. Unfortunatley they are a weekely paper, but there coverage of the teams in Liv County are great. They also cover some of the youth sports in the county.

By reading the community newspapers, I only get whats happening in that area. I get more of the whole picture with the D&C. It's better have morew information than too little. I just don't get enough from the others. My secretary brings in the Batavia paper. They cover primarily Genesee/ Orleans and Wyoming county. Try to find a capsule of the Monroe County scores with the exception of Batavia High School.

I missed that. I enjoyed his writing. Did you know that he is Beth Adams husband, she from the Chet and Beth Show on WHAM1180?

I don't think we are setting up a category for amazing online only news, so I guess we get stuck in with the newspaper group.
In five years you are hardly going to see any newsPAPERs anymore anyway. Everything will be online. The cost of actually printing a newspaper is so not worth it. Ask the D&C, which just had to lay off a bunch of people because the cost of the paper and ink, along with the salary of pressmen makes making an actual paper not financially feasible anymore.
