hey has anyone heard about a kid that was star football player from Geneva last year being involved in a shooting and killing?I was just getting out of the car when the news came on and didn't have time to listen.
damn, what is up over there with there football program?I just heard some players from this year were accused of robbing an ATM.
the only thing that must be required on their code of conduct is to be able to come up with bail money!I'm pretty sure the football program wont be receiving any citzenship awards!

Bobby Greco, a memeber of the graduation class of 2007 and member of the football team recieved the state senate citizen of the year award. This ATM robbery crap is a complete rumor made up by those who have nothing better to do with their lives than to fabricate stories that came straight out of the movie Barbershop. Nothing like that ever happened. Go through the archives of any paper in the area. Don't you think something like that would have been reported? This is a horrific incident and the fact that a person of interest in this case happened to be a member of the football team does not in any way, shape or form reflect the character of the overwhelming majority of that team. As for your statement about the code of conduct at Geneva, remember the Jeff McNamara situation?

hey dude, take it easy!your comments sound more like a school press release than a pissed off parent or fan.
I was just looking for info on the situation that just happened. The rest of it was a purely lighthearted comment.I didn't mean to offend anybody but i guess if i was a geneva player or fan i would be upset too.but if you heard about this recent incident happening to another schools player along with the atm rumor you would be thinking the same thing.rumors travel pretty far cause i live in batavia and i heard it and they dont even play in the same league as geneva.i also think for that rumor to get as far as it did some players had to be playing it up to or it would have died along time ago.
and i have never heard of jeff mcnamara or whatever situation it was.

Just because a rumor spreads to many people doesn't mean there is any truth to it. Considering the situation now, I don't think lighthearted comments about the Geneva code of conduct are in very good taste and deffinitely hit a nerve with myself and anyone else who has personal involvement with those affected by this tragedy.
And since you didn't know, Jeff McNamara was the QB for Geneva during their state runner-up season of 2005, who violated the Geneva code of conduct for the third time during his high school career and was banned from playing sports at Geneva.

Rumors can be not true, but there is often a reason why there is a rumor in the first place. I don't know if anybody could actually steal an ATM machine, but maybe something happened and it got blown out of proporton.
Look at the Mike O Ford thing in Batavia. There were a ton of rumors for a long time - ranging from the mafia, to Ognibene being arrested, to him stealing millions in cars from Ford. None of those have been proved to be true, but months later he is forced to shut down his dealership and is facing a big lawsuit by Ford.
Rumors are just rumors, but they often start for some reason.

True, rumors often stem from something of face, but if you're implying that this rumor stemmed from an incident where players from Geneva found themselves in trouble with the law, you're wrong. The only thing I can think of is an incident where a few players stopped at a gas station to pick up snacks before heading to blockbuster, and being accused of stealing something. Security tapes confirmed that the kids did nothing wrong.

first of all are you calling a atm rumor a tragedy?i would never joke around about someone getting shot.i was looking for info cause all i heard was a geneva football player was questioned in a shooting.my cousin was shot and killed when he was 14 so i would never joke around about something like that.the comments were in relation to the atm "tragedy".you seemed more concerned with dispeling the atm rumor than someone getting killed.
your comin down on me for a rumor that originated in your town.who you blaming?i never sasid because it got this far it was true.i said it had help. if you ask me that rumor didn't start without the help of some teammates.i haven't been out of school that long but i'll tell you how things get goin.a player was probably joking about the store incident which reminded them of the movie which was overheard by someone else who told their brother.the brother then asks someone on the team who thinks its funny to keep the rumor going.its all in good fun to 16 year old boys.dont tell me a rumor about a football team stealing an atm is not funny.it is.you can bet that the majority of the team thinks it funny too!
i cant believe you guys would get so excited about a rumor and a lighthearted code of conduct comment.loosen your draws and lighten up man!

Obviously the tragedy I speak of is not this ATM crap. A former teammate and friend to many kids that I work with has been charged with murder, and a friend of many kids has lost his life for no good reason. Do you understand what I mean by tragedy now and why your comment that the only thing on the Geneva code of conduct must be the ability to come up with bail money, after you stated you heard a Geneva player was involved with a murder. You expect me to believe that comment didnt include what you heard about a shooting and only this ATM BS?

like i said before i did not mean to offend anybody.i knew nothing until now about anyone getting charged with anything.all i heard was a player(that i don't even know name of still)was being questioned in a shooting of somebody.i had no idea of length of his involvement.he could of been providing info or been a witness for what i knew at the time.i was hoping somebody knew something more.the only thing i know now is what you just told me.
you kept commenting on the atm rumor but using the word tragedy.i was very confused.i wish you of told me after my first post that he had been charged with murder and there was also a young victim(i'm just assuming he was young by your above comment)i would've apologized again and left it alone.geneva cannot be that big of a city so i am sure it has affected everyone that lives there.
this is a tragedy that somebody will never have a chance to grow up and someone else will grow old in prison(if he's guilty).
i heard this kid was a star and had a lot going for him.what went wrong?

While I wouldn't quite call him a star, he was a very good player who would have been attending Erie Community College this fall. He moved here before his sophomore year from Florida and he has a troubled past and was trying to rid him self of that. If you want more info go to www.fltimes.com
