Obviously, going into this year everyone knew that the loss of Anthony Danizio and Sean Michele (and all the other seniors from last years' team) was going to be a big hurdle for ER to overcome. However, even knowing that, I am surprised looking at the box scores. I haven't had the chance to go to a game yet, but I am surprised seeing Connor Boyer and Peter Dezio not putting up bigger numbers because I thought they would both be more of a factor on the court than they have been so far - but since I haven't gotten to see them, I am not sure if they are even getting any playing time (or maybe they ARE being a big part of the game, just not offensively?)

Can someone tell me - who are the starting 5? What order to they usually come off the bench? Is Boyer hurt? Who's looking good right now? etc.

Thanks!

Boyers been hurt since the day before the Gananda game. The starting five is Fornataro, Justin Dezio, Terell Price, Marshal Cowey, and the fifth has been changing. Up until this season the games have been sloppy but hopefully it will turn around they beat north rose tonight so we will see.

Wait - is Justin Dezio the one they brought up for Sectionals last year? Or Peter? I think I might have them mixed up...

From today's Democrat and Chronicle (http://www.democratandchronicle.com/article/20081211/SPORTS08/812110362/1026):

East Rochester ended a 45-year drought between Section V boys basketball championships for the team last season.

The Bombers are not sure if they will have to wait again for another title. They do know this championship drive will have a different look.

"We have talent and there are high expectations,'' East Rochester coach Mark Michele said. "Although we are in a hole, we are not deep in a hole.''

Gone is the backcourt of Sean Michele and Anthony Danizio, two guards who helped East Rochester control games.

"It's almost the reverse of last year,'' Michele said. "The strength of our team is our size.

"Nothing can replace what we had, two of the best guards in the area that worked together for three years. We know what we need to do. We have some injuries to work through first.''

Marcus Price, a 6-foot-6 inch senior, returned to the program after playing as a freshman. He has been slowed so far by a foot injury and the flu. When Price returns, he could make a formidable combination near the basket with 6-4 senior Conor Boyer, who sprained an ankle last week. Marshall Cowey, another returner, gives East Rochester more size. A 6-3 junior, Cowey averaged eight points a game last season.

East Rochester's new backcourt consists of the duo Bill Fornataro, a six-foot senior who picked up minutes off the bench last year, and Terrell Price, a 6-1 junior who grew two inches over the summer after starting on the JV.

east rochester also has some guys coming off the bench who help out. they should be good once they figure stuff out like how to stop the turnovers and other mistakes. whether that takes a couple more games or half the season will determine what kind off record they will have at the end of the season and how good of a team they will be.
