I would only go to watch Averin Collier.

Well, the Saints have five other legitimate D-1 recruits other than Averin. OT/DT Steve Dunn (http://www.ccsaintsfootball.com/AthenaVideo3.mpg), OT/DT Dave Kubarycz (http://www.ccsaintsfootball.com/athena_dave10.jpg), FB/DE Nate Boland (http://www.ccsaintsfootball.com/Hilton_video3.mpg), OG/DE/Long Snapper Joey Yanaitis (http://www.ccsaintsfootball.com/Brockport_BlockedPunt_Yanaitis_Touchdown.mpg) and last but not least, our kicker with the 55 yard range, Matt Szczupakowski (http://www.ccsaintsfootball.com/ThomasVideo1.mpg). It takes a team to win in football.

Sounds like you want to push the names of other kids. I doubt you have 5+ D1 kids on that team. When you have Collier kid you don't need a team to win, you need to run the ball 40+ times a game.

Read this article whistleblower:

Star thinks of team, not recruiters (http://democratandchronicle.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070814/SPORTS08/708140328/1026).

Quote from the article:

According to the magazine, Bigger, Faster, Stronger coach Paul Dick's Saints will enter the 2007 season as one of the strongest high school football teams in America. The publication's rankings are based on various weightlifting competitions and the number of composite pounds a team hoists in various categories.

Churchville-Chili's strong men include two-way tackles Steve Dunn (6-foot, 275 pounds) and Dave Kubarycz (6-1, 270), fullback/defensive end Nate Boland (6-2, 226) and guard/defensive end Joe Yanaitis (6-2, 223). It's helped that Collier also has bought into Dick's offseason program. He can deep-squat close to 450 pounds and bench-press 300 pounds.

What it all means is that the swift, shifty and strong Collier will be running behind a line that could pass for a convoy of earth movers.

Kicker Matt Szczupakowski also is eager for the opener and a shot at revenge. With a range of 54 yards, he hopes to strut his stuff when recruiters come to town to watch Collier play. That's one of the nice off-shoots of Collier's recruitment. It has shined a light not only on his teammates, but also other players in Section V.

It sounds like you have a bone to pick with either the CCHS Saints or me. The last time you posted to me you tried to slander Coach Dick by inferring that he would use an ineligible player and now you're saying that you don't need team to win in football and Averin could do it all on his own...

Sir, you don't know much about football do you? :D

I have to have saints dad back on this one.I have seen Churchville scrimmage at least 8 or 9 times in the off season with Collier being MIA for all of them but one.Believe me they are not a one man team. They dominated even with Collier absent. While Collier was "camping", posing for photos and trying to figure out which college will give him the most love and not which one is the best fit for him,all the while claiming he puts the team first, the rest of the TEAM was working together, including several other potential D-1 recruits(yes they do have several in my opinion)that put the team first.Collier is a great player that can dominate against the best players in New York but to not give any amount of credit to the rest of the team that is working their butts off to open up holes for him or laying out for a block is ridiculous. As for saints dad trying to push other kids names on a football team besides collier, imagine that!how dare he give other kids credit on the TEAM.I don't mean to turn this into a Collier bashing but from a distance and from someone not involved with Chuchville it seems to be all about him.I have heard him trashing his own younger teammates at a scrimmage for mistakes instead of helping them.Another player then stood up for the younger player and told Collier"he's young, leave him alone".A player of his caliber has the responsibility to younger players as much as the coach.Sometimes a player of his ability telling you something will carry more weight with a younger player than the coach. He was also approached by an opposing player that he has never met after a different scrimmage and asked if he decided which college he was going to.Collier responded with "I dont talk to trash like you" and walked away.I may be wrong here and these may be isolated incidents and he may be the best teammate and guy in the world but it sounds like he has one of those that talks the talk to the media but doesn't walk the walk.

I've known Averin Collier and his brother Kevin for 8 years. Averin played on the Chili Lions Junior Midget squad that I was an assistant coach for. He's one of the leaders of the Saints football team and he's always been respectful towards me. Coach Dick does not tolerate trash talking and I know that for a fact. The Saints let their pads do the talking.

Team is what wins football games. For sure, it helps to have a star running back, but without a good offensive line, that star running back's production will suffer as will the record of the team. The Saints offensive and defensive line are outstanding and experienced. This is Steve Dunn's fourth year on varsity. Dave Kubarycz and Joe Yanaitis have been varsity starters since their sophomore year. Same goes for FB/DE Nate Boland. They are all outstanding blockers and they also have speed and strength. Yanaitis runs a 4.6 forty, speed that comes in handy when you're a pulling guard. The line is as physical as they come.

All of the guys that I mentioned as being D-1 recruits are being actively recruited by D-1 schools. Dunn has been courted by Syracuse and Pittsburgh. Kubarycz has also been courted by Syracuse and UB. Albany, UB and Delaware are highly interested in Yanaitis. Syracuse, UB and Albany are looking at Boland. I think if the Saints have a good year, you'll see all of these guys being featured on Signing Day.

Great! Bring your rain gear! I'll be on chain gang.

It's too bad the Saints don't do the Cal-Mum scrimmage anymore. Coach Dick is good friends with Fairport Head Coach Mike Ierlan and they wanted to scrimmage.

Actually, Averin and my son are playing on the same team, the Black squad. Steve Dunn and Chris Vitale are on the Orange squad. The coaches made an effort to divide the two squads evenly, so it should be a good scrimmage.

You are so off on collier I have met him before and he showed me nothing but class,he is a good teammate and what was wrong with his College vists I think 245 out of the rivals top 250 did the same thing and chruchville's other players steve dunn is probley D1 AA,and nate b is D2 nothing wrong with that but they are not D1 players. Dont get me wrong without collier I think chruchville would be a 4-2 and make it to the aa semis but with him they can win states.

I can only go by my experiences just as you have so until I see different,I am sticking with my opinion as you are also.I will say, with a high profile player as Collier is,he has spent the last two years trying to sell himself to colleges and coaches. These kids become real good at knowing what to say and how to act to media, coaches and adults in general as they have been groomed to do so.With that being said I am glad to hear the positive too.I have nothing against the kid and my response was to the idiotic comments made about Churchville not needing the team just needing Collier and didn't start off as a knock against Collier but it ended that way and for that I apologize.I'm not apologizing for what I said because it is still my opinion but the thread wasn't about is personality so I should have saved it for another day.

couldn't make the scrimmage:rolleyes: how'd it go ? who stood out on churcville?

We had a great turnout, considering the threatening weather. I estimating that we had around 500 people show up. R-9 News and Mike Hedeen (http://www.rnews.com/Story_2004.cfm?ID=52430&rnews_story_type=18), Channel's 8 and 10 as well. Prior to the scrimmage, there was a memorial balloon release (http://www.whec.com/article/stories/S172379.shtml?cat=566) for the 3 CCHS kids who were killed in the car accident on Memorial Day weekend, Katie Palmer, Teddy Piendel and Brian Sayaseth and also for Mckenzie Stenglein, who died of cancer this past summer. This has been a rough one, losing those kids.

The rain held off for the most part so the fans stayed relatively dry. Churchville Chili Stadium has a beautiful state of the art natural turf field, that has excellent drainage, but the grass hadn't been cut recently and it slowed down play on the field and effected the kicking game. Both offenses started out slow and that's to be expected early on in the season.

Standouts in the scrimmage were Vance Lenny for his 100 yard kickoff return, Chris Vitale for his numerous zig-zag runs, Averin Collier for his 55 yard kickoff return (that QB/K Matt Szczupakowski made the saving tackle on!) and several exciting break-away runs (that were whistled early to prevent injury). FB Nate Boland had several crushing runs. Man, I'd hate to be the DB who had to tackle him one on one! Mike Laurri, Vance Lenny and Joe Sinicropi had some nice catches. Steve Dunn was awesome on the line. Joe Yanaitis had several key blocks on Averin's runs and also several tackles as DE. Dan Brewer was also a standout at DE registering several tackles. Brandon Hodgins had some good runs and also some good tackles at linebacker.

The Orange Squad prevailed over the Black Squad, 19-12. This scrimmage is a great workout for the team, but it's also a great way to get the community excited about the upcoming football season!

was browsing another forum on syracuse.com http://www.syracuse.com/forums/hsfootball/ when I came across a post from a marshall fan (marshallfan1) and wanted to know if you agree or disagree with these statements ....

58873. The big game
by marshallfan1, 8/21/07 11:19 ET
With the big game less than 2 weeks away after watching chruchville last night at there intersquad game and watching marshall at 7 on 7 camps and eastridge camp.I am going to break down the matchups
QB-Marshall advantage

RB/FB-Chruchville advantage

WR/TE-Marshall advantage

Oline-Chruchville Advantage

Dline-Marshall advantage

Linebackers-Chruchville advantage

Secondary-Marshall advantage

Special teams-Chruchville has a good kicking and punting game marhshall has a great return game so im going to say this is a tie.

Coaching-Thats an easy one Marshall advantage

SO when I break it down in skill postions it is 4-3-1 marshall and coaching marshsall advantage so I don't understand why the d and c has basically given chruchville the sectional and state title when they won't even win there first game.

just because marshall has a 366 lb. lineman does not give them an advantage on the DL if you ask me...

SectionVDude,

That was a great repost from marshallfan1. The dude knows his football and I respect his assessment of things. I'm with you that a 366 lb. lineman does not automatically give them an advantage on the DL. I'll take strength and speed over size for my linemen. Give me a mobile lineman who's quick off the count anyday over a big, bulky lineman.

Thanks again for sharing that. Now why isn't marshallfan1 posting here? Drew, you ought to invite him! He sounds like he would be a knowledgable and *respectful* participant here...
