My first choice would be the 1978-1981 Cal-Mum teams that had the 49 game winning streak.
My second choice would be the 1999-2003 Webster Schroeder teams under Coach Anthony Bianchi.
My third choice would be the early 80's -1984 Canandaigua teams with Bill Scharr.
My fourth choice would be the 1998-2002 Aquinas Teams w/Magliocco, Hill, McMahon and Arel Gordon... you forgot to mention Ian Goodberlet who kicked the game winning field goal in the semifinals against CBA and who earned All-State first-team accolades, was named Most Valuable Player in the State Championship game, All-Greater Rochester first team and led Aquinas Institute to two consecutive state championships, made 46 receptions for 1,108 yards as a senior, converted 54 of 58 PATs, which is a Section V record for a season and 125 PAT's in his career which is also a Section V record. Ian also played Pop Warner Football with the Chili Lions (http://www.chililions.com).
My fifth choice would be the 1991-1996 Cal-Mum teams that had the 59-2 record.

The poll should read for PY with Crissy and Collins as the 1976 team and they were 9-0.
The 1982 Team was 10-0.

i gotta give some love to the GR.
it was notre dame that ended cal-mum's 49 game run and if we did this pole in five years, you would have the current oakfield-alabama teams on there.

Most people have never heard of em BUT the 87-88 Romulus Warriors were pretty good. Only had had 23 kids on either team. No jv program. Won Class D in 88, most points allowed in a game those two years was 12.Let the abuse begin but I would have put them up against any c or d school around at the time.

I think we're too close to the '06-'07 teams to put them in any sort of enshrinement.

To be on the list you need to win a section v title at least?

How can you not vote for a team that did not allow a single point for over a span of 7 straight games and the starters were done playing in the first half

How can you leave out ER 1978 when they were 11-0 ranked number 1 one the EAST COAST from Maine to Maryland...average point per game was 43...and their starters played primarily the first 1/2 of the games....numer ous players went on to play college football...Bob Leone QG Virginia...Rick Sidor G Syracuse......

How could you leave out East Rochester Bombers 1978..11-0 #1 in the Eastern US....average victory by 40 points and the starters played only the first half.....

Probably because those who posted the poll weren't alive during the 1978 football season. I can add them if you'd like.

It depends on what you are talking about. The question asks which is the best team ever in Section 5. If you go as a team for 1 single year I'd have to go with the '95 LeRoy team. However, the poll answers give years (about 4-5 years). Over a longer span (4 - 5 years) I would have to take the Cal-Mum team with the 59-2 record.

You also have to think about the teams that where pre-sectionals. I know my dads Dundee team lost 2 games in four years '68-'72 (i think). I'm sure there where many other really good teams back then too.

2007 Churchville? They were certainly talented but you need to get past the 1st round of sectionals if you want to be mentioned in any sort of best ever conversation.

89 Elba Lancers 10-0 beat, beat a 6-0 Livonia team 34-6, beat cal-mum by 22 and won the sectional title 34-0, maybe not the best team ever, but definitely up there.

no i dont thinkso but i could be wrong my uncle was the starting center on those teams but i can tell you truthfully that they were sloted to play a team from pa for an open date but coach bill macalee decided it wasnt in the best interest and tey had section 6's salamanca scheduled but they backed out and aquinas backed out believe it or not

in 1989, elba did beat cal-mum 33-16 & cal-mum finished 4-4 that year-prior to the elba game they beat alexander 38-0 and the week after the elba game they beat perry 38-0 then batavia nd 30-18.now on side note calmum finished 2-6 in 1988 also losing to elba that year 22-12 and in 1990, cal-mum squeeked out a win against elba 22-18

In Florida until mid june, getting married on May 25th...That 1990 game was the year after I graduated, I remember being on the sideline for that one, we kid my cousin all the time because of a bad longsnap, and I will leave it at that...Im telling you the 1989 Elba team ( and yes, I am a little biased) was very, very good..We really rolled over everyone. Our line was 250,240,285,190 and our center was 175..We had a great fb and Tyrone Woods was our HB, enough said..

Wasnt that pretty much the same team that got beat by Romulus the year before.....and Romulus didn't have a player over 200 pounds that played? In fact they had a guard that was only 150?

Same team minus our Senior QB who threw I think 7 interceptions in the game in 88, we had obviously way more experience in 89 and because of the shock of losing to underdog Romulus in 88 we were hungry for the title.

I'd like you to if its not to much to ask. It was way before my time but i did some research on them and alot of players went to college to play football. ER has had a football player go to the NFL for long snapping and im pretty sure he was on that 78 team. I will check though.
