Lots of tough picks the hardest has to be CC where the top 7 is extremly strong you have #7 South-Seneca at 12-4 and they are very capable of winning the whole class.
AA is also tough the top 4 are all capable of winning sectionals, the same can be said in A where the defending State Champions Pittsford-Sutherland are probably the most dangerous 9-5 team in all of the state. they're currently at #4 behind Newark, S.O.T.A and Pitt-Mendon.
should be a fun Section V tournament

Are you kidding? Have you seen Waterloo play this year. In my opinion those girls will definately make it to the Class B finals!

After starting out hot they've been on a slide as of late, sure a few of the teams they lost to were larger like Canandaigua & Victor but I still think the best two teams in BB are Hornell & Wayland-Cohocton, they actually just played this past weekend and Hornell took the W by 2 points. So I expect those two in the end to both still be there, they're both battle tested playing in the Tough LCAA. I like that Waterloo played a tough non league schedule but in the end I think Hornell or Way-Co will eliminate them from Sectionals.

Class DD - Elba
Runner-up - Romulus
Romulus has been a semi-final contender for a long time. That coach has learned alot from watching Notre Dame and Elba, and with ND out of the picture, I expect to seem them in the finals. They play a tougher schedule than the teams in Steuben do and should be ready for the next step. And, this could be a tough Finals for Elba, even with ND in C.
Class C - Geneseo
Runner-up - Notre Dame
Geneseo plays a tougher schedule and seeding points are harder to come by in Livingston. Genesee Region League is one of the softest in Section V, and Notre Dame hasn't really been tested by the out-of-league teams they've beaten. Notre Dame isn't the team they've been in the past and an earlier exit than the finals wouldn't be a surprise.

I'm not sure about the tougher schedule comment. Hammondsport, Canaserega, Canisteo-Greenwood, and J-T have all been state ranked this year. Did Romulous play 4-5 games against state ranked teams? I don't really know their schedule so I'm actually asking, not being rude.

Romulus did play two state ranked class C teams Bloomfield twice and one with Marion, all 3 were losses but they played Bloomfield tough both times and lost by 21 to Marion. So those are three good games they also played and lost to South Seneca who although they're not ranked has one of the best girls teams in class C year in and year out.

I still see Hammondsport or J-T in the final with Elba. Does anyone even have a shot at Elba? How good are they? Are they a tall team? A fast team? A good shooting team? What type of game do they play?

I really think they're head and shoulders above the rest of the DD teams, they play at a very high level, I like to call Elba a Girls basketball factory as they just reload, they've had a top notch program for years.
they're tall 4 girls at 5'10" and they're rather young only one senior on the roster which is scary because of their success this year, they'll be a tough out in sectionals.

Wow, they are young. Looks like they might have a pretty good lock for the next two or three years.

I'll be at the ND-Elba game this Thursday. As always, this game will be close and will be a great game to watch. I haven't seen either team play since mid-way through the season, so it'll be interesting to see how this game unfolds.

I've looked at State Rankings for years, and I don't think that most sportswriters look beyond the win-loss record for teams that are outside their coverage area. From watching Class D/DD Sectional competition for the last 12 years, I see the same teams, year after year, meet ND or Elba and (with the exception of J-T a few years ago) get spanked, no matter what their state ranking is. I'm not convinced that the rankings (http://www.newyorksportswriters.org/reference/current_polls_bkw_070207.shtml) mean much when you get down to D.
Notre Dame will probably get even less production from their bench as they move into Sectional play. Not only are they young, but they're short on Varsity experience, as well. They lost four senior starters from last year's team, with the loss of Haitz' clutch playmaking in big games, Hackett's shutdown defense overall and Morey's (sp) athleticism and smarts contributing to the drop in their record. Norton's point production has been up and down, and she has a history of foul trouble in big games. Against Genesee Region teams, this isn't an issue, but when they run into C teams that are used to playing a faster game against bigger players, it could be a huge problem. Should they win C, I don't look for them to move past the CC/CCC teams.
Elba, on the other hand, has sophs and juniors who have played a lot of regular season minutes in years past, and, with repeated blowouts in previous sectional competition, they got a lot of minutes during Sectional qualifiers and semi-finals. Johnathan's been a big contributor since she set foot on the floor as a freshman, and Bergstrasser can have a big game any time teams ignore her to focus on Marci. Marshall is only a surprise outside the team. She's very athletic and has invested a lot of time and effort in her game outside the season. They are a big team, and they have kids with tremendous athleticism that doesn't show up in the box scores. Elba has a real shot at going very far this year, and look to be strong for the foreseeable future.
