What's everybody's thoughts about it being helpful to lose at least one game before you get to the sectionals?

once you learn how to lose, you learn how to win

I've thought about this myself. It a hard question to answer too.
On one hand it helps because it lets you know that you are not invincible and that you can lose. This will motivate the team to play their best because the fear of losing is real.
On the other hand it hurts because who wants to ruin an undefeated season? And if you really are that good that you can win every game that should (hopefully) carry over into sectionals.
Its a difficult question, but i would have to say it helps to lose a game at some point during the regular season.

I think it is very difficult to not get cocky if u go undefeated for a season. I think losses are good

I agree with what everyone has said so far. I believe if you lose at least one game, it helps bring the team together and play harder. Yes an undefeated season is nice, but I would take a loss in the regular season than a first loss that kicks you out of the post-season.

I think that John Calipari had a great quote about this last year....

I think that it is very difficult at the high school level to come focused like that day in and day out and if a team can do that it will help with their mental toughness when it comes sectional time. They will know throughout sectionals that they can beat anyone that they play and intimidation does not hurt if your the one intimidating the other team (not physically of course).

idk if you have a smart and mature team then an undefeated season can be helpful... it shows that your a tough team but the team it self has to realize their job isnt done so i guess it depends on the team

one wrestler cant win a match for a team so ur previous statement was very erroneous. but they have like 3 paddocks at this time i think in there lineup. they have a good team but they arent undefeated. as of the 20th they were 15-3. wrestling wise specerport and penfield are both undefeated and brighton

It's a good thing. As an Avon Swimmer (undefeated for 2 straight seasons, I think its 27-0 in our last 27 meets, give or take) I can tell you that we had a moderate amount of issues this year. Like funtioning as a team, I think largely the kind of sprouted from the younger guys, the freshmen and sophomores as they to this day do not know what it is like to lose a meet. If we had dropped a close one at one point in this past season, I think it would have done more good then harm, thats for sure.

yeah paddock is only one person that can only wrestle one weight class per meet... it takes a well rounded team to win a match. This is obvious by their record.
