Liverpool game had its great moments. The goal that was almost scored from past midfield by Liverpool was a cracker and a great save by the keeper.
Torres had a wicked strike early in the game that nearly found the net and was a great save.
The goal by Liverpool was just awful marking by Madrid on the set piece...smallest player on the field with a header for the win.

I'm watching the CONCACAF Champs League tonight, since the wife's gone and kids are sleeping. Montreal is representing the USL1 pretty well. They're up 1-0 in the 65' against last years MFL champs Santos Laguna. They have 50,000 at the game in Montreal in the old Olympic stadium. Quite the site!

Real Madrid dominated that game to... i think the possesion was like 59% to 41% I didnt get a chance to watch the game but the highlights were sick! That shot from half was pretty nasty... What a game!

I disagree - Madrid had the ball a lot in their own half screwing around with it. I thought it was a very even game and Liverpool had more chances to score. Possession time does not always indicate who won. Being an Arsenal fan I have seen many a game where the Gunners have the ball for 55% or more of the game but get outplayed overall.

Like i said i did not see the game so you are probably right. I was just going by what highlights and stats i saw and i have seen games just like you have were one team dominates the game but ends up tying or even losing the game... but that is the beautiful game of soccer.

Arsenal might not be playing in the Champions League next year with their recent poor form in the EPL, so they should play some inspired soccer trying to win it this year. Of course, heart can only get you so far, and Roma hasn't been great in Serie A this year either. I still think Arsenal will be able to hold their first leg advantage, though.

I am a huge gunners supporter and I don't think they are good enough to win this year but they have a chance if they keep playing well and controlling the games.
They sold a lot of their aging players over the last couple years and I was pissed too, but they have a group of amazingly talented young players. It is scary to see them out of the top 4, but they are by no means out of top 4 contention. They have had some injuries that haven't helped them out. I am still rooting like hell for them and I agree with what they are doing long term, I just hope it doesn't bit us in the ass this year and we finish 5th.

Yea I dropped the ball on flamini he didn't fit the older category. Hleb was on the other side of his prime in my opinion, I don't think Gilberto would be starting and even if he was arsenal was trying (in my opinion) to open up spots for all the young guys to get time with the first team to grow for the future.

the problem is arsene wenger is obsessed with playing young players and sometimes you need older experienced players to help a team.
Arsenal's dream team of 03-04 had a combination of youth and experience. And in my opinion played the best soccer that i have ever seen.

That team was absolutely ridiculous. I think Arsene sometimes wants to have a young team that will play his brand of futbol without arguing and without egos. He has had a lot of success doing it, this year they are a bit down but they have had some injuries to some of their key guys too.

What? They create scoring chances from almost every possession.......I guess dominating the game with lots of scoring chances is boring. Yeah, they pass around alot, but they are careful not to force anything. Thats why they always dominate possession, thats how they create so many chances, and thats why United have only given up 1 goal in like their last 10 games.

Giving up 1 goal in their last 10 games is not a good reason to say they play exciting soccer. I don't agree that ManU plays really boring soccer, they play a nice brand of futbol. I am not a Ronaldo fan but you can't argue that ManU is a very good team. They don't play super wide open exciting soccer or extermely boring bunkered in soccer...somewhere in between which is where the majority of teams fall.

manchester plays boring because the tend to pass the ball around without alot of movement or intenstiy. They seem content with keeping the ball without doing much with it. Especially when they get the lead, then they really start to pass the ball around and not do much.

When manchester plays counterattacking soccer they are fun to watch but when they slow the game down and posses the ball it becomes boring. When they have a lead is when they really slow the game down and its frustrating to watch. I still think they are probably the best team in the world right now. They need to pass quicker and speed the game up to play more attractive football. They also need to dribble more as opposed to passing.

Are you kidding me? They need to pass quicker and speed up the game more and play more attractive football??? Manchester Und doesnt play for the fans they play for themselfs, and what they and how they do it is a success. "They also need to dribble more" ? sorry to say but you dont know soccer. Why would a team want to dribble more when there up a goal or two? Manchester United is the best team in the world as of right now, why should they change there style of play? They play to win not to inpress the fans. You think that is boring soccer but i think thats how the game of soccer is supposed to be played.

There is no way that the game is supposed to be played. You can play soccer in different ways. Just watch a variety soccer teams play and you will see the difference. As for the best teams in the world playing like Manchester that is false. Barcelona's don't play that way and they are one of the best teams in the world. Inter Milan doesn't play that way either.
Also I can guarantee you that I know a lot about soccer. I've been playing since I was like 7 and have been watching it on tv for like 6 years.

Rooney gets far to many bookings, simply because of his reputation. Take the Inter game at the San Siro. Rooney slides, wins the ball without any contact with an Inter player, gets up and takes two steps, then is caused to flip in midair by a dirty, reprehensible sliding challenge from another Inter player. Then inexplicably, Rooney is given a yellow.

Also at the San Siro Ronaldo got booked for "divving" and it was a bogus call just because of his reputation he clearly got stepped on and got tripped!
The people that categorize Ronaldo as a diver are unintelligent. Ronaldo is one of the fastest players on the planet, and when you're moving that fast, the slightest impact on your legs can send you flying. Its happened to me before, and I'm not exactly Usain Bolt. Many of the critics of these players have never played the game themselves.

He is a diver...he moves fast but he dives. Part of diving is how hard you make the foul look and he makes everything look like he got shot in the leg.

Sometimes he makes it a little theatrical, but many of those instances warrant a foul against the other player regardless of apparent severity.

He always makes it look theatrical...sometimes its a foul and he looks like he got shot...often times its a guy coming close to him and he makes it look like he got shot.

I just read that FSC won the bidding rights for ALL Champions League games starting next season. That sucks for those of us who don't have FSC...which is a lot more people than those who don't have ESPN.

Yesterdays games-
Villarreal and Arsenal tied 1-1 (By the way, Emmanuel Adebayor's goal was absolutely disgusting)
Manchester United and FC Porto also tied 2-2
Todays games-
Barcelona vs Bayern Munich
Liverpool vs Chelsea
I've got Liverpool and Barcelona moving on...

barcelona is in the semis. bayern tends to look good early on and then get beat in the ko rounds or the quarterfinals. the trio of henry, messi, and eto'o are unstoppable. it also looks like chelsea will go through. lpool would have to score at least 3 at stamford bridge to advance.
the other two games are close.

I don't think they talk about how nrw is good, it's just the only thing most nrw kids talk about is themselfs bc nobody from nrw knows anything else outside of Wayne county.

There is a lot of NRW-related stuff on this site. And yes, I only really know the Wayne County kids and the high scorers. I read in another thread that Garcia from Athena was one of the best defenders in Section V, but I didn't know because I don't watch any Athena games. If we talk about something, it will probably be about something we know about like WC or our sectional class.

I just think nrw gets talked about to much on this site. I think that they should make different forums for high school soccer just like they did for high school basketball. Like monroe county... Wayne county... Livingston county... And so on...

Im interested to see how chelsea handles messi. I remember a 4 years ago messi ran all over del horno and got him sent off.

i didnt see the chels barca game but from what ive seen on soccer websites and highlights, chelsea was the better team and should be in the final. I mean barca's world renowned offence was held to one goal over two legs. and in the second leg when chelsea decided to attack they caused a lot of trouble for barca.

I wouldn't say Chelsea was the better team. Barca controlled the ball for huge long swaths of the game and had much nicer buildups and chances. Thing is, Chelsea was able to make quick counter strikes because of the high line Barca plays.
