Who are the best players (pitchers) in class DD and who is most likely to win it all??

im thinking richter of fillmore will be pretty decent this year, and could help out her team. Seeing that B-R is down a couple of seniors, will most likely make the games versus them more interesting to watch. Hopefully GV's pitcher has gained more control, that could aid GV very much.

Alison Richter, Amber Harding and Sue Black will be the core of the Fillmore team, but there is a solid group of young girls that will be there once they get their feet wet. They should be very competitive this year if they can hit the ball.

B-R wont have a huge dropoff, I think, in talent, even though they lost Ingalls and Sisson to graduation. They always have tough pitchers, and Erin Fleming is a very solid pitcher who many have not seen because of Ingalls dominance. Also, they have a young catcher with amazing arm strength and footspeed. Not many bases will be stolen on her, I can tell you that.

GVs pitcher had excellent velocity last year, but she was downright dangerous control wise. I saw her hit far too many players in the few games I saw.

Avoca will be very good again, Sarah Becker will return to the mound for the Tigers, she's been the starting pitcher for 3 years now. Several other key players return. Emily Benton, Megan Putnam, Allison Robords, Brooke Hammond, & Kayla Wightman

Addison, Canisteo-Greenwood, Arkport, J-T, A-A, Avoca, Prattsburg, C-S. There may be more teams, but that's what comes to mind. Any details or info on these teams?

Addison, Canisteo-Greenwood & Campbell-Savona are all in Steuben County but are Class C Schools. Prattsburgh & Bradford both play in Class D. Arkport, Alfred-Almond & J-T are Class DD but the last time I knew J-T didn't field a Softball team.

In the first duel between B-R and Fillmore, the winner was Fillmore, 3-2. The pitchers were both very good, controlling the game. Fleming was solid and so was Richter, all game. It was a fun game to watch, I can tell you that.

GV defeated Walsh 37-0. Was this a football game? lol Walsh is not good, but GV is a solid team when they get some hitting. Fillmore is playing very well, and course you have B-R who seems to play at a high level almost every year. I think sectionals will be very competitive. A lot of good teams with talented pitchers.

I think ND Batavia has to be the favorite. But I like the way the sectionals are looking. There are some good matchups in Class DD.

37-0? That smacks of some very poor sportsmanship to me. You don't accidentally score that many runs, no matter what team you are playing.

I do agree that this year's sectionals will be fun.

Unfortunately, I believe the mercy rule in softball comes after 5 innings of play. So, if you're scoring, not much you can do. Think about some of the basketball games, 100-0 that made headline news. I saw Hornell beat Walsh 78 to 6 I believe. They're just overmatched, but what do the players do, just stop playing? It seems demoralizing to the other team and I'm sure it sucks a lot, but games like this will happen. It definitely was not intentional or bad sportsmanship in my mind.
As for the upcoming sectional tourney, seems to be a handful of solid teams that could make a run and win the title this year. More the merrier as they say.

Fillmore beat B-R 4-0 in Richburg tonight. My understanding is that Allison Richter was lights out, but I don't have any numbers yet. This puts Fillmore at 15-1 or 16-1?

Richter has been great lately. Beating a good B-R team like that says a lot about her pitching. Allegany county has 3 teams in DD that could possibly win the title. B-R has lost a few in a row, but that won't phase them. GV has fireballer Lyman and when she's on, she's very tough. Then you have B-R and Fillmore. There's probably 6 teams that could win it at least in DD.

Here's one thing the teaming batting could have done when ahead like 20-0. They all could bunt back to the pitcher, and get thrown out at first. I'm sure some others have ideas to help get out of the innings and help this coach from GV since he/she did not have any.

We beat a team this year 36-0. None of the players on our team were too interested in intentionally striking out, bunting to the pitcher, etc. because of how it would factor into our BA's. Instead, all of our baserunners left early in an attempt to be called out...unfortunately the base ump missed alot of "runner left early" calls, and that's how the run total got so high.

Big game tonight for Fillmore vs. Batavia ND. Two very good pitchers going at it in Richter and Pike, I wish I could get up to Letchworth to see this one, but alas, I can't make it. Hopefully, someone tapes the game!
