What were some of the sights and sounds from the Webster Tournament that anyone wants to share?

I watched the Webster Thomas games.

The first vs Aquinas was a marathon 11 inning affair. Thomas probably should have won in regulation because they unnecessarily were too aggressive running the bases. The Thomas pitcher, Erika Hoppner, seemed to get stronger as the game went on. The Thomas and Aquinas fielding was very good, and the Aquinas pitching was very good. It was a well played game and it was too bad anyone had to lose. Aquinas after being state champs and losing some key players are still very strong.

The final vs Victor was all Thomas until the last 2 innings, when Hoppner
appeared to get tired. I don't remember Victor getting any solid hits all game. Thomas ended up giving Victor their first loss.

It looks like Webster Thomas is one of the top teams in the area.

Webster is a good team but they also lost to mercy 7-0, who lost to Bishop Kearney... Some may argue that Hoppner didn't pitch against Mercy and that is why they lost, but Mercy still shut them out, regardless of how Thomas played defensively.

Hoppner didn't pitch against Mercy and there were other lineup changes.
Why? Who knows. I guess the coach was trying some new things for a non league game.

Mercy is a good team with a good coach. Thomas plays them again later in the schedule.

Thomas was in a funk after spring break. They played no games and practiced little.

Mercy did not start their # 1 pitcher against Kearny, ended up costing them

Victor was hurt by a baserunning error in the 7th when their lead runner interfered with the Thomas SS on a ball that was not going to be converted into an out. It was a great game, Thomas deserved to win because they out-hit Victor. Although over the long haul I think Victor will be the better team.

It was good to see the Thomas SS Kristina Moss back playing again. She hit the ball hard twice.

I don't think Aquinas is all that strong. They didn't hit the ball particularly hard. When the winning run scored vs. Thomas the 2b was clearly too far back to throw a runner out at home. Then they went out and lost to Olympia.
