It was reported in today's Democrat and Chronicle that Derek Wolfley is leaving Iona for UB. Wolfley said playing time wasn't an issue. The paper said that Derek will be a walk-on, non-scholarship player at UB. If anybody close to Derek has more information, it would be appreciated.

Tony Jackson Jr., former BK standout, was "kicked off" the football team at Duke for breaking some type of team rules. mrmiami (sp) you seem to be in touch with football, would you have any information regarding this situation?

...thought it odd they'd have a "press conference" to announce the dismissal of a third string player.... re read "press release" not conference.

This is the kind of thing that can stay with you for a long time. Instead of receiving an education from a top institution like Duke, he will have to answer questions as to what happened. Do you think employers will care what happened? Will people forget? How much does anybody think this will impact his future? I hate to see this happen.

If he can contribute to another program which I think we all know he can. He will be on somebody's field real soon. Whats sad is that because of his athletic ability he will never learn from this mistake. I really hope I'm wrong and he views this as a wake up call.

It is sad that he was a Division athlete which so many folks dream of being and he ruined the oppurtunity.... I hope that he rebounds from this and finds success in whatever he chooses to do next...

Seems like Wolfley is just trying to get into a better fit, closer to home. With a transfer year to practice with the team, almost acting like a red-shirt season, he could be a real contributor come 2010-2011 season.
